Alienware is now produced by Dell, personally I don't like a Dell due to the lack of local repair options. i.e the geek squad wont touch a Dell but they often offer to send it back to Dell for repair. not my cup of tea. Before Dell bought Alienware I was attracted to the green laptop. :)

Personally I Like HP laptops, currently I game on a HP Pavilion entertainment laptop in my living room sitting in my lazyboy chair. This allows me to sit in comfort and monitor the world news or watch a movie.

Now the question is how to find a laptop that will be cost effective. I go to stores like best buy, sams club or a store that has a large number of laptops on display. At this point I start looking for the open box items, display models or returns that have been marked down. Most of these have been tested and refurbished if needed and have a one year warrenty. Once I find a laptop I like

I make a cash offer to buy it. Most of the time I can get a laptop that is worth 1200.oo for around 400.oo to 600.oo out the door. now you may be asking hows that? Well these stores have limited display space and storage space. Secondly the manufacture will not accept any returns due to their volume out puts. Naturaly they will accept a defective laptop for repair. But it is returned to the store to be sold. I make it a habit to purchase my laptops this way and I have gotten several great deals. :)

How to rig a laptop for comfort and ease of use: wireless router, wireless keyboard and a trackball ftw. booyah

Btw if you have a problem with a display model after purchase a call to the help and support will help resolve the issue with a little social engineering :)

Ummm it's nice an shiney. I hope to beta test this soon.

Omg glomma that looks like a Zelda clone, Ewwww left Zelda a loooooong time ago :P

Wild West would be hard to keep adding content for it cause you can't add any crazy dragons or giant beasts because they just don't exist in that setting. So you'd just have Humans vs Humans with not much vairety to explore.

A creative mind could resolve that issue, I can think of several things. Mountain lions, bob cats, wolves, etc.

Some of the varity issue is resolved by the player system Dana has offered.  In addition if a player is riding through a desert his horse might die and he would be on foot, depending on his decissions he could die too.

1) A miner could dig mine shafts etc.

2)A player could be a blacksmith or any number of other professions.

3) The game economy would be purely player driven with the exception of new player start up.

Just let the creative side of your mind mull it over and offer ideals, thats whats needed to get a new game off the ground.

It's easy to say it lacks content or find some fault with the ideal, the hard part is moving from a nay sayer to finding solutions to the problems you may see.

I found the ideals put forward by Dana Massey to have some interesting concepts. If I am not mistaken I believe I posted a suggestion sometime ago regarding a mmo game set in the wild west. I am glad to see someone has had the time to fill out this ideal. Great job Dana :)  Hopefully some indy game developers will take these ideals and run with them before the major game developers figure it out hehehe. I like to see the underdogs win one now and then.

Here's hoping that some game devlopers are paying attention.

Best Regards

This fits the bill of being off topic. So I will post here. Wtf I logged in to find my rank has dropped from advanced back to novice.

Can someone please explain why? I realize I do not login everyday, I do have a life...... contrary to popular belief.

FYI I am currently testing a game which by the eula I can not post anything regarding it. When the game is ready to become a open beta I will be posting a report on it. So please be patient with me.

Best regards

As we say good bye to yet another game (  Tabula Rasa ) it occured to me that some decent games could live on if developers  issued a patch that would  allow players to run segments of the game in a shared resource environment.

I am thinking along the lines of  the seti project,. naturally there could be a charge for the patch. Yeah I am bored today and I am just mulling over current events. The question that remains is what do you think? Would this ideal be worth a try?

Thanks for the input folks, I was browsing the forums here and ran into a posting for this game.

http://www.linkrealms.com/pages/account/Register/

Now this has possibilties

I just called it quits on Galaxy online. Not because it reminded me of early 80's console games. I found it just to darn boring to play. I like to give any game a chance when I try it, but lets just say that space cowboy was more enteraining and we all know what happened to that game. I would like to recommend this game but in all good graces I can not.

In this day and age the gamers expect a certain level of performance ranging from graphics to in game playability.

I would rate this game accordingly: 1 being very poor 10 being outstanding.

Graphics: 5 fair for a kids game

UI: 4 difficult to master without reading a game encylopedia

community: 6 if you get time from blocking the chat spammers.

playability: 2 The game play is to drawn out

Over all: 3  all I can say is Ewwwwww

Well if you ever drop into Afterworld look me up. Indana. Like indiana jones :) Would love to share opinions etc.

Recently I was testing Afterworld, to my dismay a newbe dropped in and ask some questions and was refured to the wiki. Suddenly this newbe started threating another player with pvp. This was not very mature to start with, not everyone ingame has the knowladge one might be seeking. The worst part was when this player started telling everyone that he/she was on staff for two gaming sites and he/she was going to write a game review regarding Afterworld.

First of all I beleave it to be very unprofessional of any game reviewer to base a review on one players conduct.

Second: A true game reviewer seldom makes themselves known, I for one lurk in the shdows  testing the game  while watching the social interactions in chat.

Third: In my opinion people that claim to be game reviewers just to garner attention or some favor from dev's or other players is just plain wrong. This type of person is just such a turn off.

If you want to be successful work for it, yeah it will take time, effort and maturity. but you can get the respect of others and a sense of self accomplishment that is unmatched by any other means.

First off I noticed when I follow the listed link to Cabal's web page I find no forums link on their page to post comments on. ( Still under construction? )

In recent days the game has suffered several set backs due to some glitch's. The agent shop ( auction house ) went down on several servers. This issue was resolved after a week. Currently there is an issue with the chat system, with no guild chat, no whisper, and no buddy list. These issues have plagued the game for well over two weeks, and  the game is starting to loose it's appeal to many players.

I have played this game for some time now and I really like it. The game has great graphics and the game play is interesting. It is sad to see the dev's struggle with the bugs that currently plague Cabal, when they could be creating new content. I sincerely hope these issues are resolved soon. This is a good game and I would hate to see it discontinued due to loss of players. Please do not let my critique of this game dissuade anyone from Trying this game, after all glitch's are often short lived and this might become an oppertunity for a gamer to get leveled up faster due to fewer people compeating for the same resources.

I spent several hours down loading the client and updating it, to my dismay the game would not run. With each atempt to create a toon and run the game I would get a server timed out message.

I paid a visit to garage games.com to see if I needed the torque game builders programe to aid in starting the game. ( I was lead to this ideal by a selection in the game start up window, seems we might be able to mod the game?)

During my visit to garage games web site I found several things still under construction. So maybe this game is on the back burner for a time. I will continue to try to play this interesting looking game.

I turely hope it is not going the way of space cowboy and other games. I want to go waste some enemies with a chain gun

To the best of my information it is still oin open beta in the united states. I could be wrong but game play is still a little buggy so I tend to beleave it is still in ob. If you have a link that shows beter information then I have please post it.

IF you don't mind playing f2p games take a look at Cabal Online. It is one of the best mmorpg's I have seen in some time. The game is still in open beta, that means you can become a member of the high level elite that so many struggle to reach and never do. The game has good graphics and many many quests. It also has PvP so no matter what you like it has something for you. Give it a try.

Btw I have played EVE. It is a great game but the monthly costs to play has made it diffcult to justify in this current economic enviroment.

Not long ago I was bored with the ole hack an slash rpgs. Several friends reccomended Cabal Online. So I downloaded the client and started playing. I was met with very good griphics and great game play. MInd you the game is stil in open beta, so there are some glitchs to be delt with. This is a minor situation to deal with considering what you are getting for free. I found the game interesting and  has a lot of content to keep one busy fighting and running for your life. Hehehe,

If you are bored check it out, you will not regret it.Not many games have so many quests and  monsters to kill! This game has a lot of features yet to be explored. Have you ever wondered how people get to be such high levels in a game? They start playing in the open beta of the game. So if you want to join the elite of high levels now is the time.... Come see!!!!!!!!!

If XTRAP was soooo good then why is there so many gold selling bots running in the game? Some say it is insiders running these sites for privte profit idk about that. The thing that gets me is how they are getting past the type in the alph numeric bot checker, That thing is so annoying at times.

Due to some unknown reason the game is experencing some problems, some server clusters are up an down like a yo yo. I enjoy the game despite the lack of a game supported forum to get updates on server statis an the lack of bug fixs. If there is anyone that knows of a game like this pm me I like Cabal an another game like it would be a good refuge in difficult times

Whoa hoss, I reealize that this site needs to pay the bills. I have no problem with that. I was just hinting that some review of the sites buying adverizing might be a good ideal. The crux of the issue is that it is the viewers and members of this site make it possible to even attract advertizers. To me this is one of the best sites for gaming information. In a nut shell like other users of this site I relie on this site to provide good gaming information.

Please do not not miss understand me I really admire the folks that make this site possible, many thanks to all of the talanted people that spend hours making it possible to have such a reliable and informative site.

GamerDNA launches way to discover games that fit your tastes Dean Takahashi | December 15th, 2008

As I read the artical I was some what interested in finding games that fit my gaming style etc.

The site looks promising, but time will tell if this is just another way to generate income. I must admit I like the look an feel of the site.

No hate intended, if you visit the site an try the game all will be revealed. As they say the proof is in the pudding.
