ALLLLLLMOST Bought AoC Today...Is there Strong Solo?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 5/23/08 10:18:31 AM
1. Don't know. Solo WILL be viable, but at the moment it is much more viable for certain classes than others. |

Crafting is a DISTRACTION?! Listen, I live for the crafting. It's what I do. I guess I'll be passing on this one then... |

As a Teen, Everquest Made Me Smarter; WoW Makes People Stupid >Poll<
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/20/08 9:58:52 PM
You could argue then, that because Tetris is simple, Tetris makes you stupid... But you would be wrong. No, a simplified game cannot make you less intelligent. Speaking l33t might ruin your grammar, but it doesn't make you less intelligent either. A game might have aspects that attract these people, but it does not cause them. |

My computer is more than a year and a half old, so I can't play AoC. :( I guess I'll have to stick with WoW. It's really not THAT bad. |

"I forgot to mention that I'm an RPer, so PVE servers are out of the question." Yes, because it's so much more immersive to be repeatedly spawn-ganked by xXxKillerxXx. |

Different themes that would make great MMO's
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/18/08 6:51:42 PM
I haven't seen any Steampunk MMOs yet.
You get a huge potential for crafting and an 'invention' system would be nice.

Hello Kitty Online... will it be the WoW killer?
General Discussion « Hello Kitty Online 5/18/08 3:11:53 PM
Why does everyone want there to be a WoW killer? It's more likely to keel over and die of old age than another game. |

There are plenty of people that say they quit WoW entirely because of an immature community.
I don't understand what prevents an immature community in AoC. Is there some sort of magic wall that prevents immatures from joining AoC in large numbers?
I guess the idea is that blood and boobs = less kids. (WRONG)
I mean, how many people, out of the 1 Million Beta signups are under 17 years old? How many are duplicates to get a better chance at entry?

Well, many gamers have come to use the term 'zerg' in a different context in the very specific case of arena/battleground PvP. In most contexts, zerg does mean to swarm or overwhelm by numbers. Since you can't actually 'stop' people from advancing, they can just run through your polygons and past the defenses in large numbers. |

Yes, but when the official strategy is as follows: Crash the other team's computers. Then you have a problem. |

Funcom announced "nervous" Q1 financial report
General Discussion « Age of Conan 5/13/08 7:02:27 PM
Whatever the outcome, Funcom will definitely be either a good example, or a warning to future MMOs.
Only time will tell.

I don't have too much hope for any MMOs so far. Except for one. World of Starcraft FTW! |

Regarding the original post:
I hope they are not mistaking graphical overkill for quality.
With the differences and focus of AoC, I think it could have stood on it's own without such intense, memory-consuming detail to realism.
Quality of game and Quality of graphics are quite separate, and do not often relate.

Well, it depends on what kind of person you are. And what you enjoy.
Obviously, Conan has more polish, but that doesn't actually do anything for me personally.
I guess I'll be going for Spellborn because I actually do not enjoy beating people to a pulp and then hearing the lamentation of their women. I'm more of an explorer type.
And you can look however you want in Spellborn, seems interesting.

Also, I know that you get immature people in all games, but there IS a definite and inverse relation to focus on violence and community. ATTID is completely non-combat, and they have the most amazing community I've ever seen. The ones that focus on gore and head-chopping (Requiem, AoC) generally have really insane/immature communities.
