ATTENTION TO ALL MMORPG PLAYER!!!!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/27/08 3:55:30 PM
1. How was the life in MMORPG?
I’m not a role-player but I have always found that MMORPG games to be more “fulfilling” than other games. I’ve played a lot of non-mmorpg games through the years but after playing WOW when it came out 4-5 years ago these “solo” games just don’t seem to keep my interest. Only played WOW about a year and then was in EQ2 for 2-3 years and am now playing Vanguard. I guess I would summarize it this way, there’s just more depth to the mmo games.
2. For the noob/newbies, how are you interact with your senior/senpai/higher level player in the games?
Well, just like in real life I suppose. The old saying, “You can move mountains with Please and Thank You!” very much applies when someone helps you out. My experience has been very positive but of course you get the “turds” every once in awhile. Getting in a guild/clan/etc is the way to go in my experiences.
3. For the veteran/higher level class, what tips that you give for your kohai/junior/noob in the games and how do you interact with them?
Remember, the “noobs” were once you and they could very well be your future teammates. Also, the attitude of the community (of which you represent) has a lot to do with a games success. IMO, I don’t wanna play a game where the upper people are a bunch of snots.
4. Which one is better? work as a group or alone in the online game (MMORPG)
Gee, which is better apples or oranges? I like to group much more but there are plenty of times depending on my mood that soloing is nice. Grouping in tough zones together builds friends and seems to just make it more fun to me. I have never really understood why someone would pay for soloing entirely; I suspect they would say that they enjoy the mindless banter in general chat (just kidding). I guess I have always thought why pay the monthly fees when you can go buy a solo-game at the store and play it without monthly fees.

I'm on Seradon and have to say it seems about "right". By that I mean it has enough folks to get groups, guilds and so forth but not so crowded you feel you are at a Minnesota Mall. Of course (as usual) the general chat has your normal mindless blah blah blah. Regarding class, I have a Shaman and they are a lot of fun also. I forget what level (15'ish???) you get to choose a pet class which can be a tank, melee or dps. Of course you are a healer so if you don't like support classes I wouldn't recommend that. Still I can solo a good portion of things (mostly 3-dot). In the end I always say, pick the one you want to have fun with, enjoy the journey is what I say. Good luck to ya and maybe we'll bump into you! Asomodeis Guild - Safe Haven

Recommendations for 20's Dungeons/Areas?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 2/28/08 11:44:56 AM
What other dungeons or areas might other players recommend for folks wanting to group their 20's? Any suggestions? Thanks for your help in advance. Pooks |

I had some credit card fraud and the bank had me do a few easy things. REALLY REALLY SHOULD DO a credit freeze by going to any of the 3 biggies, only need to do it once and will share with each other. It freezes anybody opening/closing credit/accounts for next 3 months. I used www.equifax.com but you could use the other ones. BTW, very easy to do. Also, ironically they said often times you will see a "small" amount charged to an account and it is often a thief trying to see if the account is first open. It could be like 50 cents on your statements or something rather tiny. Your bank should be able to get all your money back since YOU did not do it. It's a pain in the butt, however, it should get fixed or your bank is "questionable". Remember squeeky wheel get's the grease. Good luck, I feel your pain but it should have a happy ending. As a side note, it was interesting that my credit card company who is very reputable has SOE on a "list" of potential fraud alerts meaning they would not let a charge go through to SOE until calling me personally(it was a pain registering and setting up billpay). This is NOT a SOE thing but rather I guess there a lot folks out there trying to do fraud with SOE. Pooks |

i would recommend VG. It seems to me that so far it's been almost 99% PVE (been playing about a month). As to the robe thing, yeah you can wear your big ol'dress (just kidding *wink*). I was leary of playing based on all the past history but I'm certainly wowed by the graphics and I think that they have fixed or made dramatic improvements. I'm certainly having fun so far. A word of caution, VG is one hell of a resource pig so keep that in mind also. If you have an older system you might lean a bit to the others. Good luck to ya know matter wich one you go with. I "nervously" bought this game about 3 weeks ago after following the threads on this forum for over a year. At that time (in the beginnining) I watched from EQ2 as players left and then came back and universally came back saying that game was atrocious and should never have been released in the state it was. I dare say these forums were absolutely dead-on and correct to "bash" Vanguard. I also hope other companies got the message not to release crap before its ready for the "paying" public. IMO these forums functioned the way they should by getting the message out to folks. So, I'll be honest, Vanguard was not my first or even second choice. However, after giving up on TR( very fun "solo" game) and EQ2 (loved it, and played over 2yrs, but frankly just needed something fresh) I decided to take the plunge and give this game a shot. I AM ABSOLUTELY STUNNED AND IN AWE OF THE GAME!!!! As folks said, yes there are some bugs but as of now (only lvl 15 shaman) these bugs are minor imo. If you decide to try it I think you will like what you see, but it is definitely a resource hog. Don't blame folks who played in the "early" days for being bitter and it sounds like they have every right to be angry. Nobody, likes being played the chump. However, I can see myself playing this game for a long, long time and liking it based on what I have seen so far. I have no doubt that had it released in it's current state that it would have been highly successful. Pooks |

I agree on the PVP part (although not much of pvp'r). However, on the subject of "balance" I would have to say respsectively submit, THAT IS THE ISSUE. The classes are so wacked out of balance with each other that you don't need to group in this game. As somone posted earlier on this forum, they have created a really good a-sosical "solo" FPS MMO. I don't know about you but there are a lot of FPS you can buy if you want to solo (btw, not against soloing at all, just think mmo's are also social/group things). Regarding the GM's have to wayyyy agree with you. My experience with them has been very, very positive. They are very quick and responsive to issues such as bugs and so forth. Frankly the bugs are there but not a biggie and in time I think those will be ironed out quickly. As far as GM's go they were certainly better than my experience with SOE and WOW. Sadly, I dropped my subscription after hitting 47 this weekend since I couldn't see the point in soloing anymore stuff (or lack thereof). I'm giving Vanguard (glutton for punishment?) a try and hoping that will hold me till AoC. Cronus |

Medics...lies and dislikes with your class in PvP and PvE?
General Discussion « Tabula Rasa 1/16/08 11:26:45 AM
Hmm.....Likes and Dislikes, Eh? For the record I'm a lvl 44 medic (Cronus on Orion). Likes + Injection Guns FTW. So much fun hearing "pfffft" then watching them croak. + Like the variety in which you can configure the class for groups (recusitation vs immunity vs buffs). IMO if they ever get the group dynmics down this will be alot of fun to mess with. + When we go into heal mode (and the squad doesn't spaz and run around like morons) you can really do well with keeping them alive. + Decay on the right target can be very effective and it's fun to throw it and run. Come back and voila, they are toast + Lighting (pump 5) rocks! The stun and graphics are a blast to watch. When I cast Regeneration it is so cool to be throwing lightning bolts everywhere. Dislikes ---- Honestly don't feel that the class is valued or unique. Frankly, the way the game is now pretty much everything can be done solo. This is a little out of context with topic but I get bummed that there doesn't seem like a lot of group action needed. Basically, I don't feel needed at all :( - Leech...I really try to like(pump 3) and who doesn't want to whip out a big gun, but I either go into full heal mode or damage mode with the inj guns. - Mind Control should be better, but right now (at pump 3) the guy basically stands there half the time (personally I think it causes constipation in the bane, so he get's confused, "should I attack or take a dump". Well, that's my 2cents on medic. Cronus - Orion Srvr

Just bought this game and am really enjoying this game so far. I saw the rather large list of fourms at the TR website but was wondering if anyone had some really helpful links they might be able to point me to. I kind alike the wiki site but was hoping for some better ones. Generally I use the sites for maps and quests. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Pooks |
