you need to hover over the game in the gamestop download program. when u do itll give you a link to your code.

So the OP tried the game till 20. Decided it was woth buying at that point. Then after his 30 days decided he wanted to sub. Then at some point decided all this choice was a scam? Yea sorry im not buying what mister 6 posts is selling.

That really looks fun.

yeh thats that not best idea this close to people having to decide if they wanna start paying for the game.

How Linear is it?

There are the quest chains that take you through the zone. Then there are the story/saga guest chains that once u have them dont show up on your quest helper. So you gotta find the stuff on your own by reading the quest and figureing out stuff on your own. You could you a website but whats the fun in that. Gives really nice rewards usually ends up in dungeons. Some call for crafted items. Me and a friend are working on The Saga of the Endless: Implanting the Idea. they start around 15 i think. There are also Ancient Wardstone Quests that u can find. Some are KIll X amount of X. Some story driven. Like take these glasses and track down this killer. Use them and his tracks will show up. Then u find his camp then a bunch of other stuff until u finally locate and kill him. Rewards for those are planar.

Why play Rift?

At first i thought the rifts and invasions would bother me. I even tried avoiding them. Then i ended up in rather large public group durning a massive invasion running for one rift to another closeing them and putting down invasion forces. After all that was done the boss spawned and there was about 3 full raid groups there in the city in Gloomwood killing her. Was a lot of fun and after it was all done i opened my reward bag and it was completely full of currency for The planar vendors to buy blues (sadly i wasnt one of the lucky ones to recive a epic stone for armor), collection pieces, buff items, a few pieces for crafting, some other level things that when opened gave u armor or what not for that level, and socket items. Completely changed how i feel about them. Now i find myself jumping into public groups all the time when i see one. Not to mention they give a ton of xp. To me it really adds the somthin that has been missing in the open world in games and gives me another reason to play. Cant wait to try the raid rifts. From what i have seen they are completely different from how the regular rifts and invasions works.

Based on my WoW experience no, I'm not big on the idea of cross server LFG tools.  I'm not particularly fond of the cross server warfront business either.  However, Rift is a different game so we'll see how things go here.

I've played Rift since beta 1 and it may have other features that help to support the community.  Time will tell.

/not watching this thread

Agreed Rift is a different game. Has far more to do in the open world at all levels then the other game with a RDF. Dont see it killing a community that has so much to do as one.

If you don't want to use LFD then don't use it. If I want to use it why must you get in my way?

Becouse it soon gets to a point where there is no way to get a group unless you use it, so, if you don't want to use it... you have no choice anyway.

Exactly the same that has happened in some other games when they have made everything soloable. You can theoretically get groups. But you actually can't becouse... everybody is soloing.

This is rift not other games. Way more open world stuff to do here to meet and form groups. Rifts/Invasions/Ancient Ward Stones/Raid Rifts/Puzzles/Collections. Once again this is Rift with the "rifts" not WoW with only quests. There is gonna be a ton of people running around open world. If u cant be social there with all there is to do well i dont know what to tell you.

OH God NO!, when a game has that server rep means nothing to players.

How does this effect rift? With all the people out in the open world doin all the Rifts/Invasions/Ancient Ward Stones/Raid Rifts. Seems like a ton of ways for server rep. People will know u on your server from them more than they would from some dungeons.

With a game that has so many dynamic events and things that require group efforts.........cross server dungeon options would not be smart. Building groups with strong bonds would be a better idea.

How would a RDF stop people from froming groups for all the other dynamic events? Does a RDF make it impossible to say high to all the people in the open world doin these events? The world is still gonna be full of people doin them. Awhole lot of chances to be social.

I do. And I don't understand why this is bothering so many people.

Say server A has 10 people. Server B has 8 people.

A has a guild of 6 people. The other 4 don't want to join this guild, but they don't mind teaming up with members from A. 1 person from the 4 does not want to team up at all and is a solo player. The guild makes plan and is able to execute the dungeon finely. Those 3 people are screwed pretty bad now are they not?

Now say we have cross server LFD. There is no guild in server B. Person xxx from B find 4 people from server B to go do dungeon. Without cross server these 3 are screwed up bad too. Say 1 from this group does not want to join cross server people to do dungeon and he knows if he waits it out he'll find a group on his current server and he does not mind waiting.

But other 2 rather que up and go fight.

I don't understand why other people are bothered because some people want to do cross server?

The situation you present just doesn't occur in MMOs. The dungeon finder is a tool that promotes anti social behavior. For some of the tiny handful of us that still play MMOs for the social element (and let's be honest, modern MMOs have been taking games closer and closer to single player RPGs with elements of Diablo thrown in every year) this is just the final nail in the coffin.

I thinink this guy is extremist.

Once again someone baseing an argument off a game that this is not. Covered this over and over. This is Rift not WoW. See lengthy above arguments.

Still baseing everything off of how it went in World of Warcraft. This is not that game. Rift has many more ways to go out and be social. So my question still is how will a RDF "kill" the community in "Rift". Everyone keeps giving examples from WoW. I want to know how will it do this a game that has many more things to do as a community.

You caught my eye.  Specifically what is there different about Rift in terms of doing things socially from WOW?  Because I'm not seeing it and if what you say is true it might change whether or not I play this game.

Inquiring minds want to know!

Regular Rifts i belive 7 different kinds. Full zone Invasions. Also 7 different kinds. Raid rifts not sure how many of these im guessing 7. There was always people out doin them except for the raids. Was not high enough for them yet. Ancient Wardstones. Then there are Puzzles and Collections that give u a reason to get out in the world. If your just sitting around in the main city its not cause of a lack of things to go out and do in Rift. So im still not seein a RDF bein a social killer in Rift which is what this thread is about.

Well, I suppose it would come down to, is Rift combat/rewards preferential to dungeon content?  If yes, then there'd likely be no issue, however if people would prefer to fight in dungeons and a DF tool were to become available you might find people doing nothing but standing around in town waiting for their next dungeon to pop.

I think in the end I'm giong to have to play Rift to see if this rift content is really all the fun or interesting.  My idea of socialization mechanics is a bit different than what you presented but perhaps seeing for myself will be best.

You can get epics startng at around 15 from rifts. The loot is very much on par if not better from rifts. Aswell as collections. Special items to enhance crafting. Items to shield or heal you or cuase damage. Like i said before lots of reasons to be out in the open world.

No ! No Wallace! No? NO! NO!

If finding ppl fast enough for farming dungeons was the excuse for killing interaction and sociallity in wow , they could simply have way fewer servers with full population instead of having loads of almost empty, low pop and mid population servers.

Example : In stormscale server in wow there loads of hordes players that even if dungeon tool wouldnt exist u could very fast find players for every dungeon u need.

Now concerning the population mater and balance population issues in my opinion there should be a +-50 ppl diference on each server beetween the 2 sides . Example if on x server there are  5000 defiants and 4950 guardians if a player wanted to make a character on this server he shouldnt be able to pick defiant but guardian only. If he wanted to play defiant simply play in other server. This is a very easy way to keep numbers beetween the 2 sides balanced cause in games like rift numbers are doing the diference .U cant afford ona server to have 8.000 defiants and 2.400 guardians for example. Devs should focusa on this cause its a very important factor.

Anwy things like dungeon tools kills whatevr sociallity a game has.It leads the game to a more synthetic way ,shouldnt be allowed.Find tanks and healers anwy in rioft the way that classes works will be easy so there is no excuse to implement dungeons tools.

And let me tell u this. On vanilla wow and bc where we were making parties players used to know almost every person in server even the hordes...It was our little medieval fantasy village..Now thnks to things like bg and dungeons tools u hardly speak or know other ppl in your own server . And concerning this matter its not just my opinion. Its the truth, and i honestly dont give a shit what braindead kiddis think about this matter. Its thanks to them that wow took that way down to shithole . If they are anti-social as persons and want want queqes and like farming so much they should atake a scythe and shovel in RL and go harvest fields. Its the way our society is taking ,ppl dont talk to other ppl so much, u sit on a bus station and if someone tells u goodday u look they look at him suspicious thinking: what the hell he wants now? Thats the shit we r into in RL and games and i say no. What about u..

Why would you want to put someone from another server in your list?  They are from another server. Its not about maken new friends its about maken sure you get in there and get it done. You want friends thats what your guild is for or hey go meet them at all the rifts everywhere. Still dont see how one would kill the community in Rift with all the "rifts" goin on. This is not the other game.

This is where wow went down the drain ... exactly here!

That was WoW. This is Rift. There is alot more leveling choices in it. Way more ways to meet new people and be social. If people cant find a way to meet new people and be social here maybe they arent as social as they thought they were.

Well some people are shy. Some people just roam the world and meet future friends on a whim and maybe get invited to a guild through those world interactions.

And why should you discard people because they are less social then you.

Don't portray your own characteristics on everyone in the world. Not everyone is like you.

I think we can safely say it is a fact that the cross server dungeon finder tool had a lot to do with killing the community in wow. It could be it made running dungeons easier since the game is top heavy. But Rift isn't at this point yet. So lets not bring that evil tool in when it's not at all necessary.

Im lost now. People wondering the world of rifts with all the rifts in it can only find and meet new people through dungeons? Somthin tells me they gonna be meeting people through the rifts before the dungeons. If the RDF killed communties in WoW once that was WoW this is Rift. If ya dont like the "evil tool" because of a different game experience then dont use.

It is not about us people who know how a mmo is supposed to work to abstain from using the tool ... it is about people who are new to mmo's not to think this is a "normal" feature.

If you put this tool in I can guarantee that a whole bunch of people will think this is a normal feature and they will never leave the towns.

This immediately scraps a big chunk of the community resulting in a smaller amount of people to meet out in the world.

I don't know how many times I need to repackage this concept for you to understand.

Why will they stay in the towns when there is so much to gain from all the rifts? I see your arguement but its based off of WoW. This is not World of Warcraft where the only thing to do out in the world is quest and explore. New people to this game "Rift" get introduced to them right off the bat and know the benefit of them and usen them for gear and more from the start. So they wont be in town sitting around waiting for a que. O and the shinies. Lots to do out there. Not really seein people sitting around in town waiting for that. Well unless they have explored everywhere done all the quests gotten every single reward from the rifts and collected all the shinies and done every puzzle/acheivement. I like the shroom one.

You are making the assumption now that people play a game for all the different features.

It is clear that a lot of people go in for specific features ie Rifts, Dungeons, quests, pvp (... the ones I forgot).

So there will be people not interested in the Rifts or after a while won't be interested.

Again I am trying to convey you the concept that a dungeon tool will isolate a chunk of the community.

How will they be isolated from all the other people in the game. Will the dungeon finder make it impossible to see all the people running around in the world and in the city? Will thier chat stop working? Wether its there or not they still have the same options they had before it. And becuase this is rift they will have more than in the other games. Even if they hate rifts and all the other things to do besides dungeons. The people that do like them will still be there and they will still be able to talk to the and form groups all they want. Its starting to sound like a very small percentage of people your talking about. They can choose not to use it if they like.

This question is answered by looking at wow ...

Thank you for making my point.

Once again i ask how? This is not WoW. This is Rift. How is it goin to in "RIFT" with all its options?

Cross server? No. Keep the dungeon loot in the server it was found on. Cross server crap outside of arena pvp screws up economies.

How does mostly BOP gear out of a dungeon kill the economy? Sure there is a random world drop, but its a "world" drop. Just not seein dungeon loot being the death of a economy.
