Who said anything about SWTOR keeping us subscribed? It has taken me just over 4 days of /played time to get to level 39. I got there in about a month. I enjoy the story, so I intend to play through each class story once. I imagine this may take me 6-8 months.

Now 6-8 months is great IMO, because no other game except DAoC held my subscription for more than that length of time. Most games lose me before the first month is even over. Who says a MMORPG needs to keep you subscribed anyways? What's wrong with staying subscribed for as long as the game is fun and then only returning to experience new things as they're released?

Games don't survive without concurrent subs,I think ADD wil be a big problem for Devs in the future.

I'm used to playing games for years not months.

var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_e8ef74f4d924489aafe027f4b723033a(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } FCTB_Init_e8ef74f4d924489aafe027f4b723033a(document['FCTB_Init_0be6812eca7f43909128acefe99906ff']); delete document['FCTB_Init_0be6812eca7f43909128acefe99906ff']

Pretty much spot on,all those reasons are pretty much why I passed on this mind you I had alot more playing time then 3 days but it doesn't matter 3 days 3 months the game is just not that good for an mmo if it was a single player game then ya I would of payed.

They spent to much time doing the VO which is just window dressing for the game but who knows they could come out with some hail mary patch and open ended space pvp which would help it greatly.

Xcom Enemy Unknown

Panzer General 2

Omikron

MOO

Shadowrun

Metal Marines

Contra

Star Ocean

Xwing vs Tie Fighter

Right man, there is no need to answer on stupid post like that. Probably he likes only games like tetris

Panzer General 2  Xcom Omikron XvsT  are what I like not my fault most new games can't hold a candle to the older ones. And yes I like Tetris and Bejewelled god forbid if a game actually needs you to use brainpower.

Two months from now when your all bored with nothing to do in game the same people praising it will be on here crying about it...

Everyone is forgetting they spent 140m on this for that price yes there should be two complete top tier games my god thats  the budget for 2 blockbuster titles.

I do love the game but I definately question where and how the money and development time was spent.

LOL relax and space combat are two words that should never be in the same sentence.

Space combat is integral to Star Wars having one w/o the other is just wrong.Smugglers that can't smuggle Bounty Hunters that can't hunt.

Lame...

Seriously,we find bugs we report them and give feedback on the builds your confusing CB testers with whatever that weekend thing was.

What has polarized the CB community so much is we keep giving feedback only to be told that they have no plans to address whatever concern was brought up so pretty much marganizling what we were trying to do which was/is make the best launch possible.

This wasn't one time this pretty much all the time.It was very odd indeed considering BioWares background but whatever,it is what it is.

don't think that they are actually asking you for your opinion on how to make a good game.  There are people who they listen to for feedback and those people get paid.

I was an in house tester for NC in Austin from 02 to 05 and later in Seattle from 08 to Sept 2010 (currently employed at UBISoft in Montreal) while I can't speak for BioWare NC took the concerns of their closed beta/Alpha testers just as seriously as the concerns of the in house testers if not more so,we tested the current build for the CBT confirming all major bugs were addressed it would pass the QA and would be released to the CB community to address smaller bugs the lead testers were not able to address.

And no the in house testers do not influence the game to the degree your assuming, yes somethings would be requested to be ommited or added but it was all very superficial,it's not feasible to make sweeping changes to a game from a pool of around 100 in house testers the majority of which are employed part time.

I think I said tester too much now the word sounds weird...

And the same thing was said by "older" testers that tested WoW and EQ2 and countless others.  I really don't put too much faith in what beta testers say.  It's not like they sit in on the staff meetings or know what is being worked on.  Mostly they just complain about one change or another that doesn't measure up to their "expert" opinion.   A lot of these beta testers believe that they are invited to test like they are some sort of consultant when all they are is just another warm body in the room.

Reason is, then the reverse would be true. Just about every game Bioware made up until this point has been very successful for the most part (DA2 some people say hasn't) so by his logic, that means Bioware will AUTOMATICALLY have a hit with SWTOR.

And this is also false.

depends what you mean by a hit. I feel this game will make its investors there money back just from the initial box sales due to the fact its bioware, star wars, and uses the very familiar MMO layout(unlike SWG). Does that mean it's a hit even if it closes doors on month 6? or month 12?

I have serious concerns that it may flop, personaly hope it doesn't but I think people that havent played are going to be in for such a let down that it may make them cancel, and I have been testing ToR for half a year and ALOT of the older testers have the same concerns on depth, the VO is great but I still think it ate up too much of the budget and development time.

Like I said hopefully theres enough die hard fans to keep the subs up while issues are addressed.

I don't know what he's referring to, lol. Old EA seems pretty clear to me since EA had been around for decades.

Then you would know that every online game EA has touched has failed miserbly and closed not long after the one exception that comes to mind is WaR which stayed open by the skin of it's teeth'

I guess this is why they say "YMMV". Most people I've met noticed the same thing in regards to how well the combat responsiveness worked. If you're going to pick out one class and say one FEATURE of that class doesn't work... meh.

Could of posted all the bugs in the character classes but you would be here till tusday reading a wall of words another annoyin  bug is the cooldown on alot of the skills not being clickable after said cooldown not to mention making the attack system completely reliant on constant clicking which goes against all things mmo.

Flashpoints are cool though, but hardly new WaR basicaly started that concept.

LOL I would still play this even it was the first alpha build.

just feels like took a step backward in many aspects.

The one thing any vet notices is how much more crisp and responsive the combat mechanics are and reminds you of WoW in that "you click, it works" correctly.

This game is anything but crisp Smuggler cover is completely bugged to shite the AI is horrible the pathing of progectiles vs cover is bugged 1/3 of the VO still isn't in the UI is a freaking joke.

Will I play it sure I love SW's will I continue to play it that remains to be seen.

Anyone that CB tested Tabula Rasa can't help but see the glaring similarities the one thing that ToR has going for it is just how dedicated the SW fanbase is,it will at least give them some time to flesh out the crafting and get some eg content going as well as address the myriad of other issues.

Just look at STO if that had been named anything other then Star Trek it would of closed in the first 6 months.

Rehashing the same content and slapping a new level cap on it and calling it done.

It took you to Cata to figure that out lol? They have rehashed the same crap for years with the same ol level to max/grind gear garbage.

idk what games he's been playing but thats pretty much what they all do,all these people saying their gonna quit lol plz if you could you would of long ago :p

They do not plan to release this in America or EU. Read their news feeds about this game.

No idea where ya heard that I used to work for NC and know for a fact they are launching the game in 7 countries  more to be added based on launch numbers so I don't get where ya got that .

Im surprised no kudos was given to NCSoft all went to ArenaNet in the article  but whatever.

Another amusing thing is all the posts by people that don't like pvp I can't wrap my head around the reason your posting anything here,it's a pvp game.

GW2 will rox ur sox, also gives me somthing to do till B&S is released (by NCSoft to) love you NC my free time stealing company.

I remember in Beta people were screaming for real time flight which absoloutely floored me,who want's to sit at a computer 3 hours while your ship slowly moves from sector to sector I am glad they didn't listen to some of the hard core trekkie fanatics lol.

The foundry kicks ass.
