Let me enlighten you, I'll mention a few MMO releases that had a slow dl at release of live/beta client: WoW (BC, WOTLK, CATA, MOP), Warhammer Online OBT/CBT, Age of Conan CBT/OBT/Release, TERA OBT/Release, Rift release, GW2 CBT/Release... (The list goes on)
Catch my drift? Who am I kidding, of course you don't, you're a troll afterall. ;) |

This pretty much sums up why ffa pvp mmo's fail.

Eve Online wasn't near death, it has never been near death. It is one of the few MMO's that actually has had a steady, albeit somewhat slow, increase in population since its launch. Its a rock compared to every other titles that crumble early after launch in terms of player population.
So, stop saying silly things. ;) Allrighty then, with this being said. Keep on the discussion!
(Note: To counter your obvious first thought: "Ah, he must be a fanboy!" - No, I'm not. I played Eve for about 3 months, years ago, it's not a game for me. BUT, I do not like games being described as something they clearly are not.) |

Darkfall Unholy Wars: Air School / Elementalist Role

I'm tired of how people always give a, problem, an issue, a bug, no matter how small or big, a slide because it's in "testing phase". They expect every bit of problem to magically disappear just because they're playing on 'v.994 Release candidate Client' instead of 'v.1.0 Release Client'.
I'm of course not hoping for any of these errors to exist as launch, but you give too much faith into the developer. Calling "Beta!" or "Testing phase!" as soon as someone is hosting even the tinies bit of concern for something is both naive and stupid. |

[General Article] PlanetSide 2: Review in Progress - Part 1
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/21/12 12:31:28 PM
I've been playing almost all day today, never crashed once, stellar performance and SUPER FUN AND INTENSE COMBAT. I've played CoD and BF a lot, and I unfortunately has to say, they doesn't come close.
If a FPS developer is thinking of doing something a bit more original, something that is not the standard 15vs15 lobby game, they should definitely look at PS2. As an PS1 vet, I can say that I'm definitely not disappointed. 8,5 / 10 for me.
(These are all my personal OPINIONS, read them as such.) |

[Column] The Elder Scrolls Online: Megaservers vs. The Elder Scrolls
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/31/12 5:14:11 AM
As far as the concept of the Megaserver goes regarding multiple and instanced zones, I'm all for it.
My experience in TES has always been accompanied by the feeling of 'you against the world'. This would be completely ruined if I were to play in a zone with 100 other people in it. Quest hubs being filled to capacity, strangely morphed-faced characters running around tea-bagging eachother. That ruins immersion for me, I hate that.
I would love having the option, if I could, to play in a zone with less people in it(Maybe the 'Lone Wolf' option they spoke about). I don't mind running into people every now and then, I just don't want every area being crowded with them. So if it works like this, I'm definitely in favor of the Megaserver.
As far as the rest of the game goes, it does indeed sound mildly promising. I've always wanted an option to play TES with my friends, even since the time of Morrowind and later Oblivion. Having said that, I've always been afraid of how MP/MMO could potentially drag the IP down in a pile of dirt. It sounds however like they are somewhat on the right track. |

The PS1 player doesn't need to achieve any keys, they will(the players) be included in the first CBT's automatically. All of them.
This is something that SOE has been saying since the announcement of PlanetSide2 basically, they would commit suicide if they didn't hold their promise. On top off that, there is no reason they would so. In short, if you're a PS1 player, you're safe. :) |

All you need to know about Beta you can find in PSU's Beta FAQ.
"I'm seeing a lot of the same panic and assumption from the last time keys were handed out so I'll use the same response. Former PS1 players will be brought in as some of the earliest testers. That means all of them. If you fit in that category you shouldn't be worried about getting a key." by RadarX (Official PS2 Community Manager)

That feature is great, but it does only fit in a CoD/BF3 type of game. PlanetSide is all about being persistent, the map never change after a set period of time and/or if the game has been "won" or "lost". In PlanetSide you're playing in a persisent, MMO-like, world. Therefore, destructible environments doesn't make sense. |

Guild Wars 2: Pre-Orders Begin
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/10/12 9:33:30 AM
Good times! I pre-purchased right away without any second thoughts. :)
I find 50€ to be a standard price these days. Physical GW2 costs exactly as much in my local retailers. So did BF3, and Shogun, and the other few games I've bought these last few months. |

PlanetSide 2: Alpha Game Play Footage Released
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/31/12 3:15:43 AM
Originally posted by gostly I re-watched this video and tried to listen for this. I'm not quite in agreement with you, I can't feel that Matt talked too fast. There was one point though where it got a little bit messy, but that was thanks to the loud infantry action background noise rather than his speed of talking.
As far as Matt himself goes, he's probably my favorite public speaker in the gameindustry right now. He knows what he's talking about, not just with PS2 but with the original PS as well, which is something I personally value quite a bit.
And yes, the game looks amazing. It's my most anticipated game of 2012, and with the amazing games that'll see the light of day this year that statement says a lot. |

This game is THE game I've been waiting for since the original PlanetSide. I literally can't wait, and the game is looking so good already! I haven't been this excited since... well. |

Originally posted by Loke666 Wait a minute, not to be nitpicky here but wasn't D3 first announced around 2008? I'm honestly not sure, cba to look through all of the old articles to find out. But my initial impression is that 2005 feels a bit early now doesn't it? |

Yep, the combat is definitely what makes this game. In previous tests (FGT/CPE) I've been playing mostly melee damage classes. I tried a Mystic once I believe. This time around I decided to try a priest, since I was finally playing with one of my friends who picked a berserker. Boy did we have fun?
Healing in Tera = fucking amazing. I was actually a bit surprised, and sort of bumbed out that I hadn't tried it in any of the earlier tests. I'm also glad to say that my friend got hooked right away thanks to the combat system. :) |

First impressions... very early days but loving the feel of play and asthetics
General Discussion « TERA 2/08/12 7:07:58 AM
In regards to combat, TERA does this to you. Thanks to its amazing combat system even mundane tasks like just AOE-grinding at the early levels is fun. I did that a lot during the FGT's and CPE's, I just started AOE-grinding and could never stop myself. So eventually I got behind on my quests a few times.

Rift: $100 Million in Revenue in 2011
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/19/12 11:49:22 AM
I don't play Rift, I never resubbed after my first month.
But I must say that I'm happy for Rift, or should I say Trion. Rift is by all means a good game and it's success warms my heart. :)
Who knows, some day I might resub.. ;) |

POLL: How well does SWTOR run on your rig?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/06/11 5:14:02 AM
I had to run SWTOR on the lowest settings possible in order to get a decent framerate. Somewhat disappointed.
