Hey guys i posted this on the AoC forums and figured i would check here as well to see if anyone had any idea about this issue. Crashing: Need help First off i would like to say that I browsed through the forums and did not find any info on this. Also i did an OOC on my server and a few people had the same issue.
Rig AMD2 6000+ (about 3 gig) 2 gig Corsair XMS 2X 8800GTS (640s) 2X 10k Raptors HD PS 800watt MSI Platinum Mobo OS: Windows XP 64 edition The issue is teh game will crash randomly, really for no reason... i could be sitting still, talking to an NPC or even fighting. Pre-Launch i never had these issues and have been running High Settings. I have been crashing about every 10-30mins of gameplay and even tried to lower it to med settigns and still having the same issues. I cant remeber the error (at work), it was an application error Age of Conan 1.0.0.0.0.0 or somting like that. What i have done: double checked on all my drivers and updated defrag system clean (spyware, disc clean up, etc.) I have been hearing it could be an SLI issue or that XP 64 is having issues with AoC... only thing is it ran fine in beta and before the Game launch patch (right after EA). Right now I am at a loss, does anyone have any advice or have found a solution to this :?

I have a very similair set up except i have 2 8800 640s. I am running a VERY smooth 50-90fps. Here is some issues you could have. 1. Your ram is "value ram" and the latency suxxors. you could either get 2 extra gigs of it or get a GOOD musy or XMS 2 gigs. 2. AMD FX runs hot as a bugger make sure that baby is cool. 3. get a second vid card for some smoother performance. SLI will take a good load off your CPU and in some cases your Ram. 4. Update your drivers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

40 gigs i would imagine.. 50 to be safe. Either way if you are running more than 50% of your HD full then you MAY hit a little bit of performance (loading) slow downs. .... I am just waiting for a large enought "flash hard drive" to come out so i can put my games on LOL. |

Nah you are right Whar. My wife is running a Pentium D 3.4 gig with 12 gigs of ram and the same vid card AGP. I am thinking of getting a 3970 (only 160 bucks) for a lil bit better gameplay.
All these poeple whom are complaining that thier system can't run AoC is becuase they are too lazy to update all of thier drivers and probably have 98% space taken up on their HD with porn (wohhooo) and other random downloads with a good ole chunk of spyware and viruses. >=D |

1. Makes me sad to be a part of MMORPG.com because of children like this 2. The OP (as well as others) are breathing OUR perfectly good oxygen 3. More than likely these people are reproducing SERIOUSLY OP??? |

You should not have a problem if it is decent RAM. If it is "Value Select" or "Cheap" ram then 2 gigs will not cut it. The latency is crude on the lower end ram. I am running an AMD 6400 2gigs Corsair XMS 2x raptors at 10k and 2x 8800 GTS (640s) and getting a solid 40-80fps depending on the area. I may assume that the vid memory is taking some of the load. However, my wife has the same ram 2gig XMS with a Pent D 3.4 and an AGP radeon 1650 (512mb) and she is running about 30-60ish fps on medium (with lower distance rendering). My suggestiion (if you have value ram) is to NOT get 2 more gigs but chunk it and get 2 gigs of Corsair XMS or similair. Windows server is not a resource hog if you are running it as a desktop system so that should not be the issue.
I am assuming you have updated ALL of your drivers! |

Life after 20. I witnessed the General Beta. (/COUGH via my wife). The first "13" levels were very, how do i say this, Oblivion/Diablo 2 like. The quests were very entertaining (funny) and the story was great! I was worried, however, about how the land was so blocked and linear. This changes post 20 though. I won;t go in to great deatail becuase of NDA (not sure if it really counts for observers or not) but after 20 the game is VERY MMOish, so if you are worried about the solo/light mmo first 20 levels, then dont. =) |

IMHO I am very surprised at the low levels of bugs that this game has in this beta stage. Currently it is much better the EQ2 (i wont even campare this to Vanguard) or DDO during thier launch. Still there are some little issues; for instance i had a quest bug during one of my awakening quests.. I simply zoned out of the "night" and back in and it was corrected.
BTW I tried running it on 4XAA last night and it ran just as smooth. For another computer update we ran it on my wife's old comp, and it ran fairly smooth 30-50ish fps on Medium (with distance cut down and no AA); here is her machine. CPU: Pentium D 3.8gig RAM: 2gig Kingston (non value) VID Card: AGP!! 512 Radeon 1650 Raid 0 dual 72k HD
Hopfully that will put some peoples minds at ease :) |

Open Beta Level 1-10.... my take
For one, I must say that the graphics were beautiful. The game play (thus far) has been extremely entertaining as the quests (like said by funcom) are very story line based, have a meaning and are fairly entertaining. The crude harsh culture of the time is very prominent. Jumping between Day/Night for Multiplayer and Solo player is smooth. So far I have not grouped yet because my Necro has not needed to as of yet, so I cannot say much about the multiplayer aspect.
The Pros:
1. The graphics are gorgeous. Lush forests, very detailed models and enough things “going on” to immerse you into the time period. The water, what can I say, they did a darn good job on the water.
2. The performance was much better than I expected. I am running 2 gigs XMS 2x 8800 GTS (640s) and an AMD 6000. I am running about 40-60 fps on HIGH Performance. Not sure why others are complaining about lag with similar rigs.
3. The combat is fun and the spell casting has good, but not overwhelming, visuals.
4. Quests are a blast, and usually humorous. Whether it be a drunken guard or a courtesan they are all very conanesque and usually involves plenty of gore >=D
5. It is fairly difficult and not horrible easy at lower levels, I can’t wait for the upper ones
6. Not many bugs (at least to level 10) So if you guys are worried; only expect minor cosmetic issues and not game play issues.
7. Those who wine about the up to level 20 solo, just ignore it lol there is multiplayer options and other options once you complete you initial level 20 solo.
The Cons:
1. Loading times (initially) take a long time. If you are entering a zone for the first time it takes 2-3 mins to load the content. However if you enter there again it is MUCH shorter.
2. There is a lighting bug on high settings that if you stand a certain way it makes your char (and the surroundings) look very blotchy.
3. Not an “open world” system. So there are paths and little nooks in the forest, but you do not have free ranges, same as with other areas.
4. There are already fairly obnoxious players. One who insisted on running around topless babbling “it puts the lotion on it’s skin or else it gets the hose again.” AND is saw one’s name “Gurlzgonwild”..... He was removed from the OB fairly quickly, however.
5. Everything has too much loot. If no one loots a bag or box it can be looted by others (after a certain time amount of time). This resulted in bags filling up very fast and fields and fields of loot in dungeons. Items/armor and weapons need to be much rarer IMO.
6. Official forums are 85% useless; almost as bad as all the ramblers here lol
That is what I have so far. I will update the post when I find out more.

We were having the same issues running on both our machines 1 is an AMD 6400 4 gig Corsair XMS, 2X 8800GTS (640) and 2 x raptors other is Intel (forgot the number ... the .45 nm one) 3.0gig, 4 gig corsair XMS 2x 9800 GTS (512) and 2x raptors. It has to be a network issues.. which is VERY much expected for 1st day mass login/install/play. Give it a week. |

There are trolls everywhere and for every game. Especially just before launch. MMORPG.com is getting worse with the ramblings of trolls, and those too lazy to do a little googlin on the subject before they mindlessly post. Heck, even the official forums are getting worse. Never-the-less i would not worry about it. Fucom learned alot from thier AO and did a BEAUTIFUL job with TLG (STILL WAITING ON THE THIRD ONE BTW FUNCOM). Don't let your mind be convereted by the recent fourm doom-sayers. Besides there is nothing we can really say until OFFICIAL launch on May 17-20th. |

Anyone have a violyn handy.... this thread is making me want to play a sad, sad song...... do you guys actually think the NDA will hold through next week with all the fileplaneteers playing lol, if it does i would be surprised. Anyway NDA, and beta invites is no reason to cancel your game... it is just impatience on players part. Besides i see my 2 preorders as $ to funcom to help fix bugs DOOM ELSEWHERE i say lol |
