This may sound greedy but you should have kept the info to yourself,I found out on my own about the pvp beta by visiting gamespot to check something and saw it.Now il have a even harder chance of getting in .

 WoW will not die,even in the worst case scenario it will still have atleast 1mil subs,plus blizzard made soo much money from WoW that they could visit 1mil WoW players just to tell them they are filithy rich because of them.

 WoW will not die aslong as blizzard doesnt change the formula or people get bored of ultra simple unmimaginitive games (a cure for stupidy is found).

 On a side note,I do not like where EA is taking WAR,it will most likely turn up a Lotr + WoW game,in terms of mechanics similarities.

The thing is EVE is a misunderstood game and it is wrong to compare EVE and POTBS.

In an active potbs server  it should have so many pvp zones that it becomes impossible for 'carebears' such as traders and producers or mission runners playing in peace. There would be no avoiding it unless they all relocate themselves.

In eve whil it is possible for me to pirate and kill in high sec, I will be hit by Concord very quickly. Likewise the clever players in high sec, mining or whatever are helped by the inability of pirates to enter those areas...and if they can all you need to do is be careful and fit your ship correctly and stay aligned to a station and you can mostly escape rapidly.

So basically EVE caters for hardcore pvp'ers with its harsh pvp system, while providing adequate protection for the carebears and providing a massive aspect of the game (market trading, detailed production etc) for them to play without ever fighting.

  Like someone mentioned,the only religious race in eve is amarr and they are very addicted to it.The other races dont realy have any religions,plus this isnt a game about religion,there is no need to use religion as an excuse to take over a system,you just say you are bored and that is good enough.

 SWG barerly has 5k active subs,most subs come from station package sub.

  I blame WoW for the lack of any sandbox mmogs,every mmog dev looks at WoW and thinks that linear gameplay = money.

Like everything on a game, is not real.  A sandbox game has the feel of freedom,  that you can go anywhere, and play any rol you want.

As a example of sandbox games:

Morrowind.

A linear game ( as oposed to) has a linear historiline, and you are pushed trought it.

As a example of linear games:

Oblivium.

There are special games, like Fallout 1, that are both linear and sanbox (?!).

 

 If you are refering to Oblivion ,it's a sandbox rpg aswell like morrowind,no one forces you to do the quest line.Also there is no such thing as a sandbox and linear game,they are in direct oposition.

 It's true that the term sandbox has deteriorated since the release of WoW ,alot of people havent played a true sandbox ,they played WoW and some others and consider PotBS a sandbox for exemple.

 The only true sandbox mmo on the market worth mentioning atm is EvE Online,the 2nd sandbox that "WAS" worth mentioning is pre-cu SWG,but thanks to Satan's Online Entertainment,it is no longer a sandbox.

Just what is one able to do in Eve in terms of gameplay. From what  I understand you can either kill pirates, mine asteroids and build things for ships, or do mission which require you to do what I listed before or transport things from one station to another. Is there anything more?

With other MMORPGs I can get a good idea of what I might be doing but with Eve not so much since it's so different.

 You can do almost anything you can do in RL in EvE,you can pirate,you can become a merc,you can con,extort,lend money ,be a loanshark,steal,pirate,trade,monopolize the market.

  People with lack of imagination (aka most WoW players that try eve),will whine and complain that all you can do is missions or mining.

 Also dont listen to any of the local trolls who say that you can never catch up to older players ,most people dont understand that the point in eve is not to train up skills and have the most SP (omigod I has to lvl),but the point in eve is to make a name for yourself and do what you like focusing on the skills that help you reach your goal faster.

 I doubt anyone can detrone SWG NGE fiasco.

 Well HGL cant even be called a MMOG by any standards,it's more like freelancer (in terms of multiplayer,not fun,freelancer is still fun after all this time),basicly you log on to a server were there is a game world.

  HGL is a vanguard in smaller proportions,it promised alot and delivered even less then promised.

 WoW is about grinding to lvl 70 ( might be fun if you know the quests well,and if it's your 1st or 2nd time doing it),the whole game revolves around grind and erects statues for the grind gods.\

 Basicly -> grind to lvl 70 -> grind instances for blue gear -> grind heroics for epic gear -> grind raid instance for better gear -> pvp *it's realy boring and meaningless and revolves strongly around gear".

 WoW is a good game for simple people/kiddies who dont like to think and just click 2-4 buttons and jump around,it's a very softcore game in terms of learning how to play.

  If you are looking for a different game that doesnt revolve around grinding,you can try lotr online,wich focuses more on lore and quests,eve online is also nice,but beware,it's the opposite of WoW and WoWers will flee at the sight of it,either then those 2 games,I can only recommend you wait for AoC or WAR,tho I dont like the road EA is taking with WAR.

 Il play the overpowered class,cause each time I pick a class I like,that turns out to be the crappiest and weakest class ingame.

 3 completly different games,cant say much except go with the one you feel best playing with.Or just play all 3.Personaly id recommend eve online but it's a personal oppinion,people who like to play WoW will most likely hate eve,in eve you always learn something new,even very old players dont know everything,that's how many complex things you will encounter.

 Planetside is nice too,I doubt anyone will get bored of PS fast,expecialy since it's the only mmofps out there atm that is worth playing,it's pretty fun and last year when I played for awhile it didnt have any population issues and I never seen any hackers running around,well the ones who use cheats on the game,ive seen plenty of people hacking vehicle terminals soo I cant get my damn tank

FFXI - never played it ,soo cant recommend it or tell you to stay away,but from what I hear,it's a pretty decent game.

Housing was good in SWG where you could place vendors, crafting stations and collectible items, but World of Warcraft has none of these...

  Yeah housing in SWG was the best,you could put throphies on display,decorate it with rare items,place vendors etc. In WoW it would be pointless to have housing unless some very important elements are added,and since we are talking about blizzard,a house in WoW would propably cost 10k gold.

  Real life rule set ,that's what keeps me playing,anything goes .Like some other people mention,the fact that you can scam,steal and all of whatnot also let's not forget the political territory disputes and all the wars that are wagged for better territory.

  Also the best thing that keeps me playing is the fact that all the WoW kiddie's brain explode after 5mins of play,soo you wont see alot of immatureness,only OMGZ TIS SUX,I cnt LVL!!!1o ne.

 When they add walking in stations I doubt il ever look at another MMO again.

And what would the point be ? can you sleep better at night if AoC is higher on the list ? ... some people are realy sick,I remember the guy that spent a week to get eve off the nr 1 chart 1 year ago and tryed to get WoW up there.
