ironically so true. you can build an absolute top of the line for less than 1500, no idea what he spent the other 4500 on...

No way you could build a top of the line rig for $1500. I'm sure it's a nice PC, but not even close to top of the line. I spent about $2800 for the best hardware I could find (590 gtx) and another $850 on the monitor. Warranty on pretty much everything included in that price, but the video card alone was $750 which is half of your $1500. Just sayin..

I agree with the OP. I love TERA, but the dungeon finder sucks if you're not a tank.

Really, well said?  You do realize that if it wasn't for those very "entertain me" players, the genre would probably be close to if not already defunct.  There certainly wouldn't be any more AAA games after SWG, if WoW hadn't come along and drawn in all of these new, paying customers.  At best, you'd have a handful of indie niche games with very few people to group with as all of your hardcore buds would be spread out in the older games like EQ, UO, AC, AO and DAoC.

 

Obviously you are upset that you are outnumbered and therefore will not get to see the representation you feel your playstyle deserves.  I can empathize with that, but I cannot stand your elitist attitude about current games being dumbed down and that casual gamers are clueless, immature, lack patience and have no attention span and that developers are stupid to be catering to casuals.  The sheer arrogance of such statements boggles the mind.  With that kind of attitude, you deserve your dying breed status in this genre.

I agree with Zippy 100%. I am also 100% okay with the highlited sentence. Pretty much every game I played before WoW (which includes UO, AOC, SWG, and EQ) were actually challenging games. They really didn't cater to the 'casual gamer' very well, and the people who did play were actually skilled gamers. I actually like TERA and it is challenging in some areas, but a lot of times I literally almost fall asleep quest grinding. This to me is just not the ways mmo's should be played.

No problems here. Even if 2,000 people were having this problem, that's still a pretty small number in comparison.

I could probably write a book on all of the fun things I did in UO from 1999 to 2003. Sadly, I just can't do this game anymore. I honestly can't even do the free servers either. I wish they would come out with a newer version that was like it was in the original UO with some better resolutions to the graphic engine. I definitely don't mind the 2.5d, but a hi-def resolution would be nice. Man I miss this game.. sad to say noone ever really developed anything else like it. 

Glad you're having a good time. I got a few of my friends into the game as well. It's always funny to hear their reaction when traveling from the newbie island to the main town. They are all surprised at how much better the art design looks once leaving the newbie island. I recommend people play to level 25-30, and then determine if they like the game. That way you've done your first dungeon, and you have a decent amount of core abilities. You've also had the opportunity to see a few of the game areas, and fight some decent BAMs, and maybe even PvP depending on what server you rolled your character on. Anyway - hope you enjoy it!

You cannot be an archer priest. You cannot be a lancer mage. Sorry. There are differences in classes when it comes to glyphs and crystals. But I don't know enough about that to say how it affects end game content and pvp.

I honestly can't count the amount of MMOs i've played in my 15 years of gaming, but you do make 1 valid point. People have different tastes. Which is fine. Where it gets ridiculous is people attempting to slander an mmo with opinions based on youtube videos.

I have no diea why you felt the need to tell us that you have 15 year of gamign experince? it still doesn't make your opinion superior or better because when it comes to MMOS likes and dislikes differ a lot.

 If you read he basically stated I need to play more MMOs when that couldn't be further from the truth. I've played so many MMOs that it's almost retarded. I never once stated my opinion was superior to others in anyway. My whole point is saying that people are judging games when they haven't even played them. I don't think it's possible to be more direct than that.

I agree that GW2 will probably be just fine. I don't want to judge or compare the 2 because GW2 hasn't been released yet. However, TERA has a lot of polish and is getting a lot of love.

In regards to Archeage - I honestly hope it is picked up by En Masse as well. Archeage really does seem to be a next-gen mmo, and En Masse has been very impressive as a North American publisher.

Live chat 24/7..and yes they do answer and are VERY helpfull, you might have to wait for a bit, this weekend had I think 1hr+ wait for live web-chat, but still it was available.

I really hope these guys pick up Archeage when it gets ready for deployment to the west.
