Which books have best MMO potential

The Chronicles of Narnia. Narnia itself isn't that great, but Lewis mentions multiple dimensions, giving developers much flexibility. |

Next SWG? No. Crappy home-made game? No. Something in between, perhaps. When it comes out, it should be added to the list. However, I don't think it's worth tracking. |

Originally posted by AmazingAvery For crying out loud, did you hear a single word that I said? Jagex makes 60 damn million a year. They have more than enough money to have decent CS. However, they don't feel like they needed it. At least, Constant didn't think so. Personally, I think this new CEO might improve the CS, but don't get your hopes too high. The German version of the game didn't take a lot of money to make. They just translated all the words to German on two new servers. |

Originally posted by Ozmodan First of all, RuneScape's a browser game. You don't have to download it. Second of all, it says that there are 6 million active players, not customers. There are only one million paying subscribers. I think 6 million is a bit high, but not too far off. Third, it'd be pretty odd to have 150,000 to 250,000 players logged on at any given time if the total amount of players was only a little higher than that. Developers don't lie. They all learned their lesson after what happened to DnL. |

Originally posted by AmazingAveryYou must've been F2P. If you aren't a member, you're almost always going to get an automated message. I play RuneScape, and I only got a message from a real person once, and that was three weeks after I sent the query. Jagex does care for the community. After all, that's where all the money comes from. Your last sentence is bull. Of course it's never too late. Jagex makes a lot of money and is able to do a lot of things. However, they seem satisfied with the 105 customer support employees they have right now, and that's not a good thing. |

The scamming and gold market isn't as bad as the overall immaturity of the community. And the community isn't as bad as the low-end graphics and dull gameplay. On your poll, I rated it a 6.

I get your point. It's just that most Java MMOs have poor graphics, so people assume that Java isn't very good. RuneScape is 3D because it has x, y, and z axes, unlike just x and z for MapleStory and x and y for all other 2D games. Also, you can swivel the camera. However, it has no zoom feature, so I guess you could say that it doesn't have a "3D perspective". Of course those are just renders. If they were real screenshots, that would be pathetic. I'll be keeping track of this. Good luck! |

Maybe you could try LOTRO. It has spectacular graphics. Remember, though. Gameplay > Graphics. Vanguard is an excellent example of that. |

No, the map is too small. It's slightly smaller than most F2P Korean MMOs, which is pathetic since RuneScape makes so much money. I made some calculations and estimated that the total land area is about 1/2 of a square mile. However, the amount of stuff squeezed into such a small place makes the map seem bigger.

Just clearing something up. There are about 1 million subscribers. The total number of active players is about 4-5 million. RuneScape is popular because it's a browser game. |

You aren't anywhere near the truth. RuneScape is popular because it's easily accessible. It is, without question, the best browser game ever made. |

I'm thinking that this article is more of a humorous one as opposed to a rant. If it is serious.....
...... well that's just sad.
