and they need translators in switzerland.  looks to me they fired people, and or are replacing people.
that looks nothing like they are adding employees.  besides that is 13 openings on AoC.  all the rest
on a new mmo lmao any takers there.

My concern is the position titled "World Editor Tool" and it being shared between AOC and Secret World...

The fact that whoever gets that position will have an official  title of "Tool" is funny in itself.

This is a sandbox. go make an account while they last, full game is free right now until they decide on a payment plan and get the billing system back up.

It runs really well on my computer (3.0e8400, 4gigram, 260gtx). I don't have any performance issues w/ all settings to max on a 1920x1200 monitor. I don't know what kind of rigs people w/ performance issues are playing on, but perhaps a new game requires new components. I do get 1 or 2 lag spikes on a 6-8 hour session, but thats livable. I do crash once or twice w/in the same period of time. Compared to most MMO's I've played, that's acceptable (to me) , and I've played 'em all.

This is some major bashing of a decent game. Just opinions i know, but geesh.

GL Failcom, I mean Funcom!

Read the tech forums sometime, maybe. People with comps better than yours can barely run the game, if at all. The "you comp sucks" argument fails in relation to this game.

1.2 million boxes shipped.

800,000 boxes sold

415,000 subscribers left, which include trials and cancelled accounts with time left on them.

And that was the number for June, they just repeated it for August since they ASSume we're all ignorant enough to think noone joined or left the game at all for a month straight.

You made me laugh. Hard. Thanks.

Enjoy.

The success of the game has nothing to do with subscription numbers.   The important part of the equation will be to look at the Cash Assets compared to how big their negative cash flow is for the 3Q.   My guess is that they will have abou 16M in cash assets and will have about 12M in Negative cash flow.  This means they will barely be able to cover the bills for the 4th Quarter.

The other big thing to watch for is the decrease in employees.  My guess is that they dumped a ton of devs and QA people already.   If the numbers actually drop significantly, that is a good sign that the game is no longer going to be actively maintained, it will be on life support.

What about the 40 odd job postings for the company on their website? It increased by about 10 over the past 2/3 weeks.

LOL dead on assesment. My favorite is QA engineer. That most definatly is a new position.

I guess the monkey died.

The rats are all abandoning ship. Now they're stuck hoping they can find some country mice to work for'em that have never heard about the Funcom and AoC disaster yet.

This is an old post but I just wanted to give details about RYL, I thought that game was cool because I only played it for 1 week, it's cool for a week but on week 2 I found out that the myths of player-built structures was abandoned and swept under the carpet yet people still collect housing tools not asking why, the pvp is pretty much non existant except for the in-town pvp where you have to agree to the fight, the world seems large but once you've been everywhere it seems far too small. All in all it's fun for 1 week period, the graphics are what tricked me, they are fully 3d, yet the requirements needed to play this game are so incredibly low that I could play the game fine on my laptop that has no 3d card whatsoever, I don't know how these asians can make fully 3d games play so smoothly on a laptop with a super crappy non-3d accelerator card, which leads me to believe that the games shoved down the USA market are purposely built with impossibly slow 3d engines so users are forced to buy new computers or cards to simply play them, an example I can't even play tron 2.0 a 1999 game, I'm buying a new computer soon but until then I'm forced to play 2d games, excepting the few 3d games that will run on my system.

Next time investigate a little longer before posting and demand something:P

I'm wondering if he ever figured out how to use the game list at the top, since Ryl was here back than. Just another who demands things without using the tools already provided to see what he wanted was already here.

@OP: If your computer sucks so much it can't even play Tron 2.0, that's your problem, not ours. You expect games to stay at the same level of graphics for 10 years. Just for the record, Ryl's graphics and engine have always been sub-par, as is the game itself in ALL its incarnations. that's why it's able to run on your POS.

The game is getting more attention now than it used to, more publicity. Plus it's free for now, so those who would normally not have paid for it have no barrier to getting in. When you open up to a larger percentage of the gaming population with no boundaries, the ftp asshats start filing in eventually.

They need to get subs going again.........quickly.

What does that mean man?

TELL ME

Doesn't mean anything, other than someone at Amazon made a number for a non-existant game on the off-chance it would actually turn out to be true.

The future of AoC is the same as it was a year ago, when a lot of posters accurately predicted what would happen:

1.) AoC will have a huge launch as it will have no modern AAA competition, thus many bored gamers will buy it

2.) Funcom will work its magic and have a terrible launch due to a rushed and mismanaged production

3.) Players will revolt and cancel en masse

4.) WAR will launch and halve whatever AoC has left

We are currently approaching step 4, and the evidence is everywhere. Does everyone like WAR? Nope, not even close. Even discounting the trolls, a lot of players genuinely dislike it, but no one ever claimed it was the perfect fit for everyone. However, the overall response is positive, since the game actually works as advertised, and not a day goes by that I do not see a couple guilds ditch AoC in favour of WAR.

I had no doubt AoC would not be a smashing success - the writing was on the wall for a year, at least. The only part I was wrong on was how low AoC would go. I felt it would sustain 300,000+ subscribers, at least for a while, but now that appears to be wrong. I did not think niche status would occur so soon at all.

It is a shame, too. An MMORPG not living up to expectations ends up doing no one any good, except, perhaps, the competition's wallets and laziness.

Exactly , Which boggles my mind why some hope games they don't like DIE. Any death in the genre is a bad thing for the whole ,these incidents turn investors off . Without them there's no game .

No, we want games made by unethical developers to die and the developing companies to die with them. It sets an example for other devs to think twice about jumping in for a quick buck at our expense, and also teaches those investors what to look for when investing in a game company. It will not turn investors away, it will make them smarter investors who will in turn be funding devs with good solid game ideas and strategies, Indy or not.

Perhaps Famine has finally realized he can't polish turds: http://mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/2239646#2239646

I'm also of the mind that his being here resulted in that "mod report" tool.

I guess its back up, but im curious if this is a free account, a trial, gimped demo mode untill i subscribe.

It is not a "gimped demo mode", it is the full game. Until billing is set in place and a subscription model is determined, the game is free. So consider it one huge trial, more of a trial than any other game out there has ever provided. No boundaries, no chat or trade limits, no artificial caps.

So far I have gotten three-point infractions (and a ban until december) for doing the following:

- Making a thread where I politely and a civil tone outline what you're doing wrong with communication on the forums, and why it's hurting your player-dev and customer-provider relations, after witnessing a series of threads on a very real issue (that was not an exploit) being unceremoniously deleted under the guise of referring users to another thread on the same subject. Except that the referred thread had been moved to a sub-forum not available to regular users before the other threads on the same started cropping up. For the record, I did not in any way shape or form recycle the content of those threads.

- In a thread about the GM cyber farce, wondering why they fire people who mock-cyber with presumably adult players, rather than firing the people who actually do damage their reputation as a company, such as Lufkin and Tahitoa.

I'm not sure which of these - "reposting moderated material, EULA/RoC Violations, and naming violations" - those two horrible transgressions against humanity sort under, but I'm sure that if it's not explicitly mentioned anywhere, you'd make up a rule to fit it in a heartbeat. Or take the easy way out, and invoke the omnipotent "you are questioning moderation" rule.

The threads in question are of course long since deleted/moved to a forum I as a guest (nor as a user) can't access, so I'm afraid I can't link them. Nor can I offer you any of the completely nonsensical PMs I received from Tahitoa. My username of the EU forums is the same as here, if you feel compelled to investigate the matter further. Oh, and here's my posting history, just so you can see what a complete and total interwebs terrorist I am: http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/search.php?searchid=2233503

--- Edit: Fixed URL.

Nothing is deleted, simply moved. I do see the threads in question and thanks for pointing them out. I will toss you more information on the infractions in question to your inbox.

Commenting on the moderators. They are volunteer moderators and they dedicate free time to help out the community. They are only following the social guidelines of the forums. If you do have any issues with the guidelines or even the moderator in question then feel free to poke us. We will look into it. I don't think anyone is perfect but we will look into it.

I'll toss you the rest of the information via PM. :)

Oh, please. If you've been reading these forums, as well as your own ( before deleting the posts ), then you've known about Lufkin and Tihatoa for months now. Suddenly, you're gonna look into it? Wow, Funcom efficiency at its finest. And to say they're only following the guidelines? Who wrote the guidelines then, Atilla the Hun?

The Preview weekend is awesome and the game is more polished on the closed beta client we are runnning that Conan is currently. Didnt have a single client crash during 14 hours of play which is very refreshing after all the bugs in AoC and no lag spikes.

This is going to force Funcom to get their act together or else from what we have seen this weekend with Mythic. I can't wait for the oben beta but I still have 2 days on the preview so long Conan.

Let the fanboi flames begin I'm loggin into Warhammer ( a real game).

No one thats plays AoC cares have fun in your  ( oben beta )

Have fun paying for your closed one. Or have they dropped the eternal NDA yet?
