Is this game fun? Collector box related question
General Discussion « Age of Conan 1/15/08 11:33:02 AM
The game is not released yet and beta testers cannot tell you anything due to NDA still in effect. Thus, you have to decide for yourself. Hype-Meter on MMORPG says that many people think that it will be fun.
As for $90, if you do not want extra "bonus" items that you get by ordering from EBGames, you can find it much cheaper (around $60 I believe). Do a search on Google's Product search. |

Nobody here cares if they get to test in Closed Beta. However, people here are upset that they will not get chance to see the game in Open Beta. To put all of this in more simple terms: people are worried that Funcom does not believe in the quality of their own product. |

You can change font in the Settings (ESC key) -> "General Settings". The max size is 12pts. It is kind of too small for me, but I noticed that I got used tot it. Font for chat windows can be changed using "a-" and "A+" buttons. |

Originally posted by gestalt11I believe, you are very much mistaken if you think a company can "test" any kind of software and fix most of the bugs and stamp new CDs and distribute packaged game to all retailer across the world in just couple of weeks. This takes at least a month even today with all our efficiency and technology.
Open Beta is usually used for promotion of a product. Nothing more. What worries people now is that developers do not believe that their product can advertise itself if people would try it. |

Originally posted by Spiritraiser You need to work for their marketing department, 'cause even they (and they are good) could not come up with such a good excuse. |

Originally posted by ZorvanI wonder why, could you elaborate? It's just that I'm on the opposite side right now. AO release, people say, was rather bad. They told us nothing substantial about AoC. They constantly lied to us, so that they could "improve" and "polish" the game, only in the end to deliver an unfinished product, according to Beta testers. We will not get a chance to try it in Open Beta - they are that sure about the game quality themselves. |

The main issue of consern - will the game be 'complete'?

What happened at AO launch? Was it really that bad to be included in "one of the worst"? (sorry for being lazy and not looking it up myself) |

I admit that my "nagging feeling" is also stronger than ever today :( I just hope that if we nag enough, perhaps Funcom will realize that Open Beta is better for promoting the game, than a black box. |

Unlike what you've been told, Open Beta is not to test anything - game is already stamped to CD and distributed to stores at that time. Open Beta is for marketing, a free trial with a character reset if you will.

Originally posted by andyjd indeedthey did, but that was their mistake - I canceled my pre-order after I tried pre-launch (release client) gameplay. Funcom learned from Sigil's mistakes and they will try to get that first $50 w/o giving me a chance. |

Originally posted by TiiKii SOE and Vanguard/Sigil perfected this technique - better to get at least $50, than nothing, because customer saw the product already. Kind of like going to a store to buy something, but only you cannot see the product until you get home and you cannot return it either. I wouldn't buy even bread like this. |

No Open Beta? Hey, at least they are being consistent with lies. I just wonder what is the next one. |
