Originally posted by Rpro That's the thing, a lot of jobs get left behind when it comes to merit parties. So, the whole tank thing goes out the window anyway. Since all they want are DMG with /NIN, RDM, and possibly a WHM, any other job just slows them down. As a BLM, I stopped getting invites after 71 and my wife who leveled BRD with me of course would almost always get melee burn invites. She of course had to turn them down cause, why would they want a stupid BLM? That would certainly only slow them down. Of course they're needed for endgame stuff, but they can just solo their 75 and merits before they can do that, since they cause too much downtime right?
NIN is a great DD, but I don't want a DD, I want a tank. I'll take my PLD. |

You're gonna have to buy it. Although, they sell the bundle with FFXI and all the expansions for 20 bucks. I had to get that after I lost my manual that had the key codes for my original box for XI. |

Originally posted by Lexington I don't see any problems with the server I'm on. I see plenty of new people running around leveling up when I'm fishing. It's still a good game and plenty of people still play it. You do not need a maxed character to enjoy the game and get parties. If that were the case, how would anyone be able to level another job? It's still a good game. |

Elvaan arms are sexy, just like everything else they do. But yeah, the arms stay that way. Basically I guess it's so that they just aren't Humes with pointy ears.
Yes, WAR are tanks, and also damage dealers. You tank more in the earlier levels. Then basically it's all damage dealing from then on. WAR's are a very versatile job. I'm on Kujata, which has a little bit of everything when it comes to nationality. |

Nope, shouldn't be a problem to use the same card for different accounts. My wife and I have it that way. |

For fishing, just buy a rod and some little worms for bait. Cast your line and fish moat carps. They are the great for selling. You will also catch other fish that will skill up your fishing skill. So, you can level fishing quite high just from a starting city. |

I guess you could say that race matters to a certain degree. But when I started XI, I picked an Elvaan and picked Black Mage as it's job. Little did I know that it was one of the worst choices I could have made. That didn't stop me from leveling it anyway. I probably would have regretted remaking a Hume or something just so my stats would be better suited for that job. If that's how you like to be. Then by all means, go ahead. |

Originally posted by deshment I resent the part about the story. It's got a good story! Well, it has more than one. It is about looking cool of course. You don't need to spend your life savings to look cool though. I don't even play end game and I have fun with it still. It is a great game though. |

With crafting, you could make that your career if you felt like it. Instead of leveling a job. If you are smart and do your homework, it's not really that expensive to level the different crafts. Fishing, although a craft. It's kind of it's own thing. But, it's definitely the cheapest to level and easiest to make money off of.

Originally posted by NetspookAll that effects is at lower levels. The higher you get, the less you have to worry about the weaknesses. All weaknesses from every race to a job can be evened out from equipment. It gets to a point where your base stats become more even at the higher levels. So, that still doesn't mean much. You pick what race you like. Don't pick a race simply because it will be easier to level this or that job. Race had never had decision on what job I chose for my Elvaan. If you were to play by what race is best at what job. You might as well make another character whenever you want to level a job they might be weak at. |

Originally posted by Netspook The player matters. Not the race. Using a race that has weaknesses in that job just means, that it takes more skill. Elvaan are basically the worst choice for Black Mages. Somehow, I have it at max level. Their lake of MP can make them difficult to use in mage jobs. But that doesn't mean you should go to another race to suit your job. You will be leveling more than one job. You pick what race you like best. Not by stats. It's you that has to look at that character all the time. |

Race never matters. You can make any job work with any race. |

Now you're just provoking him. I myself don't see how it's shady. If you ran a business, and someone who isn't paying for the space they are taking up. If you let them know that , before they started taking up your space, that they could clear out that space. Anyway, if you're gonna, just take it to PM's. It's not even fun to read anymore. |

Highlights of the missing features of FFXI.

Originally posted by ASmith84It looks boring? Doesn't look boring to me. Plus, it's not if you play it. It wasn't for me. You obviously haven't seen Elvaan casting Black Magic. It's a turnbased/ realtime game. They basically stayed true to the older FF's. Except for the fact that you don't have to constantly press attack for every swing. Lifesucker? How long it takes to do stuff depends on you. Summons don't take a lot to get compared to what it used to take. I got them the old fashioned way and feel proud to. But, if you do it the new way. You should be just as proud to solo them. Actually, if you'd see the census they come out with every year. More people use Humes. Although Elvaan are the coolest since they have the best poses. Tons of people love Taru. Why use races they already had? To me, it sounds like you're just talking about FF XII. FFXII is a single player XI. I don't want to know about the history of Ivalice. It would just seem cheesy to just use an old world than make a new world with a new story. You just seem to be out to get the game. Fine, I'll keep enjoying it though and you can miss out. Maybe one day you'll change your mind. If you do, I'll welcome you with open arms. |

Just get a controller. It'll save you a bunch of trouble in the long run. But, it would be where the number pad would be. So if you have to press the FN key to use it then you'd have to hold it down to move. You can change it to compact so you can use the WSAD to move around as well. I highly recommend a controller for this game though. It just feels right.
