Sick as it is they cater to all the sick pukes.

Not sexy, sexism, as in racism.

Now I am not against sexyness in game - nor against a certain dose of gore for that matter - but it came to me that AoC seems rather sexistic (is that the Engish word?) to me.

We have Demonologists, but they only can summone female sexy-demons. No matter what gender or preferrence, there is always this women to safe in the beginning. There are only FEMALE prostitutes, and most important: why do female chars look good but male all like they fell head on into a lawn-mower? I mean the males have only 2 kind of faces: abysmally ugly, and just so far ok than you dont have to puke looking at them.

Oh and did they ever head the difference between a haircutter and a barber?

And dont even get me started about the male clothing! Why does even the cheapest harbour harlot wear golden silk and men wear all stuff looking like pulling on a potatoe sack?

I mean, seriously, the Conan world is not Armani male models-world, but why does it make such a difference between male and female characters? Is the only "good male" when he has a square body in sack-cloth and a face like punched too many times? I rly bemoan a BIT more diversity in all this. Its all QUITE old fashioned stereotypical and quite un-adult in that, I must admit. More like what I'd imagine a teenagers male dream world.

Read some of the books. Will answer your questions.

In short yea very much so. Exactly how the books were.

One question I have;

With instances being limited to 50 (even city of heroes has it at about 200), wouldn't it be possible for a guild of lets say 40 people just be able to completely take over a instanced zone?

I guess that really was the choice. Graphics>Mechanics.

I am used to EVE where I have been in engagements of over 500 people. It has issues with server side lag, sometimes bad depending on what system as certain ones are more reinforced. I would see MAJOR issues of people exploiting this max of 50 (or any max) and instanced zones.

I think everyone on EVE would agree we would rather deal with lag of mass amounts of people then have instances limiting zones to 50 per instance.

How can you have world PVP in a persistant world with instanced zones? How do you control territory this way?

Waiting to 40 was bad enough but to limit all resources to resource gathering zones bleh. Thats just a terrible idea.

Nope, resources are available in other areas as well.

I didnt see a single resource anywhere except in those 3 designated Resource Zones. Im sorry but thats just pathetic to place resources in a seperate zone. Im sure it had to do with game mechanic limitations thanks to the graphics.

LOTR graphics are very close to AoC quality and they arent forced to seperate resources into a few zones. Nor did they have to resort to zones with mirrored instances. So we know it can be done.

No idea why Funcom decided on limiting resources to designated zones

"very close"? Are you using DX10?

not really Sho.  As is evidenced by EQ2 (who first used this replicated zone on population) eventually there will get to a point where no zone has an instanced copy, this really is just a way to help ease the launch and help with quest line choke points.

Eve isn't instanced, it is zoned (there is a difference) but this game isn't like GW at all, it is more like EQ2 in that sense, zones aren't created for a specific person or group (in most cases, there are some instanced dungeons that are for only one person or group), they only have an upper limit of people.

For example, the City of Tortage (since people are familiar with that place) the limit may be set to 100 people in the zone (it is very small, comparatively) and thus 100 would proably make the place seem smaller, so when person 101 tries to zone, it, Tortage 2 is created and it begins to fill up.

It is dynamic, you can't just log in and say I want to go to Tortage 2, because Tortage 2 may not exist at that time, thus you'll go to Tortage 1 (the original).

It really isn't bad.

Correct. I was editing my post as you posted this. Like I edited I would compair AOC more to City of Heroes style. They do the exact same there, and I agree my statment of EVE being instanced is wrong, it's zoned.

hmm I didn't know it was instanced in the GW way (in cities) if many instances of the same area. Personally I might compair it more to City of Heroes. They have overfill multiple instance zones when area is filled.

That kinda sucks, but they did what they did for preformance I'm sure.

I once said EVE was sort of instanced in that when you use jump bridges. You sort of zone in, but there is not multiple copies of the same area. Everyone is in one universe. Also these zones are fit into the game feel. It is not out of place.

Now I understand why people compair it to GW.

Multiple copies of zones are bad for PVP as your enemy can just slip through in another copy of the same zone.

That does take away from the persistant world feel.

O and the statement of "No MMo does collision detection" is WRONG. EVE ships very much so do have collision detection and it is a factor in PVP.

Well, I play EVE. EVE pvp is unforgiving with loss/gain.

My method basically is my Corp rule of NBSI (Not Blue (friendly)Shoot it) in our homespace.

No non-friendly is welcome in our sovergn space and will be shot on sight.

My other PVP game was back in pre NGE SWG. There I only attacked enemy faction.

I am not a pirate or a ganker/griefer. I play more of a soldier/leader role for my "team". You could say I maintain honor in combat HOWEVER, I will capitalize on a situation that will destroy the enemy. Meaning if I can outnumber a enemy invader to kill them with no losses, that is the route I will take. Efficiency in destroying your enemy without loosing allies.

Lol, Eve Online, i knew you fans of that game would jump in here and comment.  Answer me this Eve players....When was last time you actually saw your body and watched yourself walk around in the game and actually meet other players standing next to you?

ROFL  Because you DONT EXIST in the game!  Only your ship does!    Only way they can play that game on One Server, lol

Mention one (1) game that you exist in when you're playing it.

Walking avatars is very sooncoming to EVE. I've seen the engine and it looks stunning.

EVE has the most advanced computer infostructure of any MMO on the market to handle the mass amounts of people all on one server.

It is "instanced" in a way when you use jumpgates to goto another solor system, but it is designed to fit in the game.

Sometimes the mass loads of people do cause lag/desync but I would rather have any issue like this then have small limits like AOC 48 vs 48. 48 vs 48 in EVE is a smaller skirmish.

No MMO can handle unlimited player engagements in one area, but EVE does it better then any.

Problem with the spoiled kiddie online flamemasters is their parents don't kick their arses. Respect for other people is not a quality in our youth. The way some of these kids talk to even their parents is pathetic.

No offense to any young people that have respect for others and don't fit this. Also it's not only kids. I worked as a bouncer/security at nightclubs for many years and seen adults act worse then kids.

People need to pull their heads out of the sand and have more respect for themselves and those around them.

Conan, good, or bad, whatever your opinion is, draws the worst element in part to it's nudity, and (to a lesser extent) gore. I hear many times how people think it will keep the kids away, I see just the opposite.

This will draw pre-teen/teen/post teen pervs like flies to dung.

The upside is on a PVP server atleast you would have good reason to attack these pukes.

If anyone has a buddy key throw it my way please. I would like to see if this game warrants subscribing.

If this game wasn't SOE I might look at it. I will never touch a SOE product no matter what it is. I don't care how good any game they make in the future is.

Too many lies, scams, and bad buisness practices from this company.

SOE=bad buisness that will not hesitate to rip people off or lie to them if they see a potential $$.

No offense to anyone on a SOE game that is lucky enough to not experience this.

It is a issue, i hate it.

Guess what? It took me 5-10 minutes on average to loot mobs in wow on release.

etc etc.  It's release, it happens.  Yell doom gloom and the game going boom.  But it's not going anywhere.  The game is more solid then any mmo released in the past 4 years that actually tried anything new(lotro being a wow clone i disregard it)

WOW clone? The lore of LOTRO is cloned by both Conan and WOW.

You disregard the game that Succeded in Dx10, and one of the most solid engine in any MMO. It's very polished. It's a true PVE MMORPG.

WOW is a clone of earlier MMO's. You kids that start on WOW and think the world revolves around it like it's so origonal make me laugh.

Funny how you disregard LOTRO when it's launch is a model every MMO should strive to achieve. They did a kick ass job with their launch.

"Sandbox" is often just shorthand for "lack of content".

But hey all you diehard sandbox fans, why aren't you playing Second Life?

Is that why Grand theft auto series is the top selling game ever? Because sandbox sucks?

You are completely distorted on what that term is all about.

Sandbox MMO's are tricky to make. Takes alot more work to get right.

Sandbox is a term that represents the ability you can do what you want in game. A persistant world you can freely evolve your character in. It takes a substantial more content to make a real sandbox world. There are tons more choices then just one linier path. TO NOT BE FORCED DOWN 1 LINIER PATH. A virtual world.

You kids need to grow up a bit. These flamefests by spoiled annoying internet warriors are quite pathetic nowadays.

If a MMO takes the extra work to make a real quality sandbox game it wil take the market by storm. A sandbox MMO is the only one that will hold players for long periods of time.

EVE is about the only sandox MMO out. Free to be what you want. Game how you want. There is PLENTY content in EVE. You are not forced down 1 storyline. You choose your own path.

As for Second Life? Thats not a game, it's a online advertisement.

If anything it shows the skills the programmers of LOTRO have. It's a very polished VERY smooth running game. A kick ass PVE MMORPG. They did a great job mechanics/engine wise.

Not insulting AOC devs at all. They just couldn't do what the LOTRO team has succeded to in that regard (Dx10).

WAR is going to be EPIC!

Yep, an epic rip-off of WoW...  I'll take blood, guts, and actual combat over a WoW rip-off and more elves...

No thanks.

Um ok... here it goes

Warhammer is an IP created by Games Workshop. Games Workshop has been around for at least 25 YEARS, therefore it is not a rip-off of WoW, but in fact, WoW is a complete rip-off from Warhammer. Please, before you post your dribble on a public forum, do some research so you dont come off sounding like a complete moron.

/ banish troll

Waiting for: The Chronicles of spellborne, AION, Huxley, WAR

When you look at it this way-All of these are a rip off of Tolkens work many many years ago with The Lord of The Rings series.

As for WAR I used to be a big fan of the tabletopgame. Games Wrokshop is a very solid company and they have some good stories in Warhammer. I am a big PVP fan (thus why I have been on EVE for 2 years).

From what I hear AOC PVP is spawncamping gank squads. That's really gay. I also am no fan for "minigames" PVP with no real point. I like more of a persistant world.

Still I would love to try AOC if anyone can throw me a buddy pass so I can judge for myself.

Same with Warhammer, I will try it when I am allowed to. I will not pay for either until I can try it though.

Games I am really looking at are Earthrise and Fallen Earth, also Champions sparks my intrest.

Currently playing EVE (for 2 years) and LOTRO (for about 3 months).

I would consider leaving LOTRO if I could get a buddy pass so I can try Conan. LOTRO is still a very solid PVEMMORPG. PVP in LOTRO sucks imo.

I am not leaving EVE anytime soon. Empire wars, Walking avatars soon. PVP is unmatched in this true sandbox hardcore PVP MMO. EVE also has one of the most important qualities I learned after being arse raped by SWG loosing my Pre NGE Jedi, LONGEVITY.

So if someone would be kind enough to send me a buddypass (sinavol@yahoo.com or pm me here) I would honestly give Conan a open minded full try and sub if I like.

If someone could please send me a buddy key so I can try the game I would greatly appreciate. I will definatly sub if I like it.

goonswarm titan destroyed in etherium reach
reported by ISD Amaari Yolkia | 2008.05.19 23:49:35 | NEW

Etherium Reach - An Erebus titan piloted by Deadtear of GoonSwarm was destroyed in a combat operation yesterday involving three titan-class capital ships, including a Leviathan from Solar Fleet, and a Ragnarok from Legion of xxDeathxx. A number of alliances resident in the drone regions participated in taking down this massive ship, and thereby preventing it from assisting Ethereal Dawn in defending their sovereign space.

The events leading up to this loss started with a small roaming gang of Smash Alliance members travelling R-6KYM in an attempt to kill forces hostile to them. When they were unable to provoke an immediate response, an assault was made on the cynosural jammer protecting the system and a control tower deployed nearby. This initial action became the cause of much larger fights over the next five days, with each side bringing more allies and increasing the size of the engagements.

The final engagement that led to the destruction of the ship started when the three titans warped to a hostile group of battleships near a stargate in R-6KYM, and fired their Doomsday Devices. In attempting to make good their exit by warping out, a single titan was caught by hostile forces and prevented from escaping.

The ensuing battle involved alliance members from Atlas Alliance, Fang Alliance, R0ADKILL, SMASH Alliance, The Kano Organisation, and Veritas Immortalis arrayed against those attempting to defend the titan; Ethereal Dawn, Intrepid Crossing, Legion of xXDEATHXx, SOLAR FLEET, Ka-Tet, and GoonSwarm. After 15 to 20 minutes of concentrated fire, the Erebus could no longer hold up against the assault, and she went down.

Bobby Atlas, a fleet commander for Atlas Alliance had this to say: "GoonSwarm entering the conflict, for many of us it provided a new found vigour to engage the enemy, and less than a day into any serious GoonSwarm actions one of their titans was downed in the defence of Ethereal Dawn space."

At the time of writing GoonSwam representatives declined to comment about the incident.

The biggest thing not mentioned is Smashkill and allies (now known as "FVCKERS") were up against 3 Titans and a whole mess of support with no Titan fielded themselves. There also was much more history then just some Smash guys roaming into system.

Great job to all others involved.
