Without Blizzard and WOW, more than HALF of this industry (including these editors on mmorpg.com) would't even have a job in this industry.

Frankly, without Blizzard, chances were big that PC gaming would be the size of a post stamp and limited to on line browser games.

So, thank you BLizzard for giving the world 5 years of World of Warcraft.

They saved the pirated PC gaming world.

There was plenty of PC gaming before WoW. I been PC gaming since my Commodore 64 in the 1980's!

WoW didn't invent, or innovate anything. They just wrapped it up in a happy meal, adding big business advertising and a nice fluffy wrapper to a polished simplistic product.

WoW neither created or ruined the PC market. It is simply just a well backed successfull product.

Unfortunatly it caught the eye of the big business vultures realizing how much cash they can milk people for with bad WoW clones.

People really need to get out of this thought that Government should control everything. Government has no cash of it's own. All cash Govenment uses comes out of OUR pocket.

Your cash is the law. If you are unhappy with service, STOP paying them and gather others to resist.

We stopped it in Rochester NY when Time Warner tried to put the limited bandwidth usage on our accounts. We had mass protests, and all threatened to switch to another service even if it ment slower access. Time Warner/AOL caved, and recanted. Our service stands in our victory of RESISTANCE of what we do not agree with.

Socilist Government control is NEVER the answer we want in America.

WE THE PEOPLE have the power. Let free markets work.

Government control is SOCIALISM. Government has no Constitutional authority other then to protect our RIGHTS and our land.

O and for those who don't realize, America is not EVER intended to be a Democracy. Democracy is a scam as it is easy to fool 50% of population.

America is a Constitutional REPUBLIC. A representative Government. Meaning we vote for people to represent us. Our Constitution garantees us our Rights. Even if 51% of the people want to take your rights, they can't as your rights are protected by the Constitution.

Well, atm our Constitution is being raped by criminals twisting this country into the next Fascist Reich.

This issue has nothing to do with knowing if someone is really a girl when you play. It's about invading peoples right to privacy because of a GAME!  What business is it of any game company what someones true identity is. That's like McDonalds asking for ID to buy a hamburger.

Other then billing info a game company has absolutely no right to invade your privacy. This is WAAAAAY overstepping boundries.

Soon we will all have our RFID chips anyways and all transactions will already have our full ID info.

Wake up people. STOP accepting things like this or just bend over pull the wool over and "baaaaa" for your handlers.

Every person effected by that insane rule should leave and speak up with their cash. If NO person accepts this in that game, it will be overturned.

I truely hope people resist this. It's only 1 more step in a terrible direction our world is heading.

Having not read all the previous posts in this thread, I'll give my opinion.

Sand Box is can  be defined in so many different ways, so asking a yes or no question is just going to start arguments.

Fallen Earth is sandbox in the fact that you do spend points to customize your character. However, Fallen Earth does not get my "sand box" title; because Fallen Earth is still level based and very grindy.

Give me a skill system like UO or old school SWG, where the exp I gain is per skill. If I fish I'll get good at fishing, if I stab I'll get good at stabbing, if I dance I'll get good at dancing. None of this grind through a level killing crap so I can spend points.

A sandbox is not a abstract term. A sandbox is just what it sounds like. A world that gives you tools to shape it. Where players can have a impact on the world around them.

This is a good example of a sandbox

Well, at level 11 I can't say a thing about end-game PVP.  What I've always wanted to see for a pure tank-class in PVP is a way to force opponent(s) to shoot/hit just the tank.

Tanks can pull and hold aggro, take massive damage in PVE but why can't we force PVPer's to only hit us?

To me, a tank is a big, fat, armor wearing, moron who can just piss people off and laugh while litte a-holes shoot at and beat on him.  Sure, he has weaknesses.. maybe he moves slowly, doesn't do much damage in comparison, and maybe his healing skills are next to none but he can can piss people off, keep the aggro on himself and take hits like you wouldn't believe.

So, where is the aggro-pulling/taunting in PVP?  Why can't I force a group of enemies to target only me for.. 10 seconds with a 20 second cooldown?  Bad idea? Good idea?  Tanks aren't much for tanking if they can't keep the damage on them in PVP....

Play City of Heroes.

Tanks can "Taunt" enemy players. You can even enhance the taunt to be stronger.

It makes players you taunt only able to target and attack you for a time.

 Rail ride.

FE don't have enough tools to be considered a sandbox.

FE is too CPU intensive for how it looks. Performance is not up to par to what a decent FPS game needs.

No offense to Fallen Earth, but do NOT join FE hoping it is like Pre cu SWG

Fallen Earth combat feels like early NGE, manual targeting. Especially melee.

Fallen Earth has much fewer sandbox elements/tools.

The closest thing to Pre-CU out now IS SWG.

It's much improved over when NGE hit, and in many ways is better then PRe-CU (yes I said it). Some things about pre cu were better, but not eveything.

I played SWG since launch, and hated NGE. I left because of NGE. I have a Jedi who got borked from NGE. I returned in 2008 supprised at how much has changed for the better.

Auto target is back.

Crafting is very important and still the best out of any mmo. In Fallen Earth when you make a .45 pistol, it is exactly like every other of it's specific type. In SWG you can make better versions of a simmilar object due to better resources, and better equipment.

Open world housing, with full ability to decorate. Guild Cities built in world adding to the persistant sandbox elements missing by other mmo's. Really amazing what some players construct. Now with player Appearence Tabs, you can wear the look you want without effecting your stat suit

Combat is no longer about who has the uber mind dot weapon. EVERY combat class can be effective. Expertise gives many options and can mimmick many of the old PRE CU templet mixes. Yes there are too many Jedi....That is the 1 thing I am not going to argue. I miss Jedi being totally rare and special too see. Once you approach SWG now by forgetting this one aspect, the game becomes quite enjoyable.

If you truely hate Jedi, you can always join a Mandolorian guild and Bounty Jedi till your hearts content. Get in a PVP guild and declare war on a Jedi guild. Be creative.

Space still has a good community, and essentually makes SWG 2 completely different games

SWG is far from perfect, but no other MMO has all the strong sandbox elements SWG has.

My hope is SOE pulls further away from the direction SWTOR seems to be going (Star WoWs for kidz) and continues to return, and add to the persistant world sandbox elements. This is SWG's only hope for survival once SWTOR releases.

I have a quick question. I have not played eve in a little over 2 years and when I left I have around 6 months of training time invested and my ship and assets were left in a corp owned station in 0.0 sec. So if I were to go back and see what was happening in eve now would my acount still be saved, or would I have to start all over? That and what would happen with my things still in that station? After all this time I am not sure if ti would still be there even.

Thank you in advance for all answers.

If your things are in a player owned 0.0 station from 2 years ago, that station might be destroyed or owned by another corp.

If you are NOT docked the best you can do is contract sell those things if the station is still around.

If you are still docked in this station, be aware, when you undock, I would assume you can NOT ever redock, unless you join the owning corp.

Never leave game with anything important in a player owned station. Put your valuables in a NPC station in the future.

Don't keep this from bringing you back to game though. Also don't forget to make sure your clone is insured. Rule 1 of EVE.

Dust being made for consoles only is a huge mistake.

I am not buying a stupid console with everything I have into my PC. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way.

CCP is leaving out the majority of their playerbase by not releasing Dust on PC.

I hope the reconsider this.

 I have not played Champions.

Regarding balance in a Super Hero game, There is NO WAY everyone can be "balanced".

Read some comics. Is Wolverine "balanced" in power to Magneto who can simply pick his metalic body up and split him to pieces?

Super Heroes have never been "balanced". In a MMO this is going to be a impossible feat.

 Housing?

There is no player housing in TOR

Crafting?

Crafting is just a addon. There is at this point no talk of any real valid crafting.

Cash shop?

I expect it because these greedy companies have crossed the barrier. Used to be a MMO was monthly sub OR microtransaction. Now many are going both Monthly sub, AND Microtransaction.

It's wrong to push both on people. Players need to resist this trend , or it will just get worse.

This preformance issue is not just her computer.

I played FE from early alpha to the end of beta. FE has major issues with it's graphic engine.

It sucks WAY too much CPU for how it looks. My comp runs Age of Conan on mostly all max settings (dx9) and FE ran at about 10 fps, with major lag. Every other MMO I played from LOTRO, War, EVE, Galaxies, AOC, COH never gave me a issue like this, and as for my connection I run at about 10mbs with a latency of about 30-60.

FE needs major streamlining of it's graphic engine.

Unless you have a super uber system do NOT buy this until you can try for free.

PS this game does not look nearly good enough to warrant the CPU load it gives.

SWG in many ways is better now then pre cu.

No longer is it about who has the uber mind dot weapon.

Auto target is back. Crafting is the best out of any MMO and is very important.

Expertise system lets you mimmick many of the old templet mixes.

Pre CU vets still looking for their "SWG" really need to give SWG a honest look. I did in 08' and I been back enjoying it ever since.

If you are in America call the Better Buisness Bureau or goto their website. This is exactly what they are around for.

Is it a Sandbox? Depends on what you want out of a Sandbox.

You can't build your own cities or kill anyone you want.

You can build your character any way you want, you never have to choose a class and the vast majority of items in the game can be crafted.

This is probably the closest thing on the market right now to a Sandbox which doesn't attempt to shove PvP down your throat.

SWG has many more sandbox elements and does not shove pvp down your throat. Infact you don't need to combat at all if you don't want to. Player cities, placed in world. Crafting system better then any MMO. In FE when someone makes a .45 it is like EVERY other of it's type. In SWG many factors can make a better product.

Yes NGE sucked bad, but it is greatly changed for the better since. In many ways SWG is better then it was pre-cu.

Don't forget SWG is 2 different games with the addition of space. There is a great pilot community.

Shame SOE and LA have such a bad past because although far from perfect it's the best sandbox out. I feel SWG is a very underrated MMO. It really deserves a second look from people.

What I don't like about TOR is it's graphic style. I really hate the kiddie cartoony style.

I really wish Bioware would have made their own game engine instead of waisting so much cash on voice actors.

Using the Heroes Journey engine instead of designing their own is disappointing.

I don't want to buy a stupid console with all I have into a PC.

I don't appreciate a company trying to force me to buy a stupid console to get me to play their game.

EVE is supported by PC users. Bad move on CCP to leave ALL it's EVE players out.

All the cash I got into a PC I am NOT going to buy a stupid console.

With FPS I strongly disagree that controllers are any disadvantage to a mouse. Some people are better with a controller then a mouse. It is pure preference and what you are most used to.

I feel CCP is sort of leaving their EVE players out. I feel that is a very poor move.

This is really starting to sound like pre-NGE SWG.   As such, I may actually give it a shot even though I'm already running two accounts in another MMO (EVE).  I loved SWG back in the day despite its many flaws (class imbalances being my most hated one).

Fallen Earth Combat feels more like initial NGE's no auto target. A FPS MMO is a horrid idea imo with all the lag. SWG learned this and returned auto target.

It's crafting is ok, but when you make a saber, it is EXACTLY like every other saber crafted. SWG has a much better crafting system with rescource quality and many factors changing what the final product is.

Fallen Earth when I was in alpha-beta was insane on CPU use. It will totally eat your cpu unless you have a high end gaming system, and the graphics do not look good enough in my opinion to warrant such preformance hits. My comp runs Conan with settings max, or near max (dx9) and FE gave me a constant 10 FPS NO MATTER what settings I changed. No shadows all low=10fps. All settings max high res =10 fps. FE simply did not like my comp.

SWG has actually improved a ton since they broke it with NGE. Class balance is better now then ever. All classes can be effective, and many old mixes from pre cu can be mimicked with expertise. There are many options.

I was disappointed with Fallen Earth. It's combat is meh.....It's also very laggy. Lag + FPS = bad

SWG is still my MMO (with EVE on the side). It has improved MUCH more then forum warriors give credit. SWG is still the best sandbox out there. Many ways it is really better then pre cu now (and I am a initial NGE hater like the rest). No longer is combat about who has the uber mind dot. Every class can be effective. Crafting is the best out of any MMO hands down. SWG also has more non-combat options then others. Entertainers. crafters. Player cities. Shoot just decorating your house can be fun.

This game has been crazy intense on preformance since early alpha. I got a steady 11 fps on a system that runs Age of Conan on mostly high settings with full shadows (dx9). I would not assume this will be fixed soon considering it never changed in the years I was in alpha-beta

Do not attempt to play this game if you have anything other then a serious gaming rig with atleast 4 gig memory and 3mhz processor.

It does not look good enough to warrant such a insane amount it uses. This game needs massive amounts of streamlining to the engine especially since it's FPS.
