Originally posted by Gameloading I grew up around guns, didn't have a single problem. Killed my first deer when I was 11 years old. One of the most memorable and best experiences of my life. It got me closer to nature and an understanding of survival than anything ever. I understand that in survival there are some people that are stronger than I am. I understand that sometimes those people might want to hurt myself or my family. I also understand that it's my job and my right under my Constitution to own a gun to protect them. If someone comes into my home, I will do my job as the man of the family and spray the intruders blood all over the wall behind where they are standing. If I did not have a gun there is a good chance that person could over power me. And if I'm not home when the intruder enters my house, my wife, or my son, or even one of my daughters now has a way to even that conflict up really fast. When I have a family I plan on having guns in my house. I plan on teaching my children how to use them responsibly and safely. Used those two ways, they are a damn good tool. I also plan on taking my son (if I have one) hunting so he can share the experience that I did. It's one of the things that drove me to my career choice as a veterinarian. I love animals. I understand how nature works. I respect it and I respect the cycle of life. |

I could say a lot of things about Europe too, but I have respect enough for peoples sovereignty and right to decide to keep it to myself. We are a nation founded on one major principle. That principle is the strength of the individual and his ability to determine what is best for him in any given situation. Our founding fathers did not want a person to look to the government for protection or guidance. They wanted the individual to be responsible and look to themselves to solve their own issues. I personally think that's why we've got the problems we have here now. We've strayed completely from that. Whether it be people screaming for protection and allowing themselves to be spied upon or someone feeling like healthcare should be given to them just for being born or a person learning that they can collect money from others in the form of taxation through the force of big government. It's all what is destroying us and our spirit of individuality. I would rather be a poor person knowing that I don't have to worry about the government telling what I can and cannot do when it comes to my family, my own decisions, my own protection, and what I do with my income, than someone who is living under a huge government nanny state. If you like living the way you're living and you're convinced that it's appropriate for you then more power to you. But I enjoy the ideals of freedom. I'm not talking about half freedom either, I'm talking about complete individual freedom. |

Sweet, thanks guys. Yeah, I'm definitely interested in the drum beats mostly. That and the cool bass lines. That song W.Y.H.I.W.Y.G. is freaking awesome. I can't believe the songs are as old as they are. They sound as good or better than todays stuff. |

Anyone ever heard of the band Front 242? I'm going through my dad's old cd's and this is some kick ass stuff. Is there anything else that sounds like this? They've got some awesome drum sounds. |

I've never been in a fight before. I've just always gotten along with people or at least knew how to get out of something without fighting. My friends and I were talking about this today and some of them thought it was weird that some of us have never been in a fight before. I guess I just know how to stay out of trouble. I know sometimes things can happen like with total strangers and stuff, but I have been lucky so far. And all through school and growing up, I just never really cared to argue with someone to the point where fists were the only thing left. It's not that I'm scared of anyone, I just never have been that mad at someone. There were some of my other friends that have never fought either. |

There have been plenty of incidences where creatures were said to exist and people called them myths or legends. And they were later found out to be true. I think it's pretty cool that there are still some mysteries in our world. |

Sometimes reporters ask questions that might sound stupid, but they are asked so that people can hear what a persons response is. For instance, let's say that a person is a seasoned deer hunter. Now, let's take a reporter who is doing an interview and maybe they aren't necessarily against deer hunting. They might ask the person, "but don't you think that deer hunting is a cruel activity?" They do it so that the person can respond to the question with their response to people who would ask it. Some people do wonder if this Georgian president has tried talking to Russia. For a lot of Americans this whole thing just came out of nowhere and they do not understand it. The reporter may have asked the question to address what is on some peoples minds. I'm not saying that was the case here, I did not hear the reporter ask the question. But honestly, coming from Rush Limbaugh I would hold the presentation of the whole thing in question. I like listening to Rush too, but he does just like other talk show hosts (conservative and liberal) by sensationalizing things. |

Well either way, liberal or libertarian who hates Bush, this thread is nowhere in the ballpark about him and still you find a way to take a jab at him. And I don't know what you mean by Neo-conservative, but I've been a conservative all my life, so there's nothing neo about it. NeoConservative is someone from the new era of "conservatism". Pick up a history book or troll the internet and read about historic conservatism. Barry Goldwater is a good place to start. He warned about an era such as this coming about in the conservative party looong ago. Historic conservatism speaks of minimal government and taxation (if any taxation on income at all), minimal intrusion from the federal government into our privacy and daily lives, and a minimalist approach to foreign issues as well. NeoConservatism speaks of the exact opposite of those things. Libertarianism is historic conservatism. Our beliefs were conservative waaay before the government zealots took over.

I could imagine a gay person seeing something like this and having no problem reporting it after all the shit they take off of a lot of athletes. Or, even more, I could see a gay athlete coming across this and outing someone. That makes waaaay more sense to me than some creepy old man who just happens to also follow Husker sports on the side. |

I find it sad for these people to have a country like Russia always at their doorstep threatening them. I find it more sad that our President has us so spread out away from the original justified fight we were in that we now are rendered impotent against real threats. If Russia feels like no one will stop them, how far will they go? |

Okay, I'm only studying to be a veterninarian doctor, and I'm not totally sure if what I'm about to say is true (I'll check with my professors today), but I would not suggest putting an animal such as a racing horse through this amount of rigor. It just doesn't seem health to me. 6 times the normal amount of activity. There is a point where you exert too much on yourself. But like I said, I could be wrong. I'll get back on that. I'm going to ask in class today. =======================================
PHELPS' PIG SECRET: HE'S BOY GORGEBy CLEMENTE LISI with Post Wire ServicesMichael Phelps cheers on Peter Vanderkaay, who was swimming the last leg of the Men's 200M freestyle relay, earning Phelps his 11th gold medal.
Last updated: 10:00 am Swimming sensation Michael Phelps has an Olympic recipe for success - and it involves eating a staggering 12,000 calories a day. "Eat, sleep and swim. That's all I can do," Phelps, who won two more gold medals today, told NBC when asked what he needs to win medals. "Get some calories into my system and try to recover the best I can." VACCARO: Phelps Is Top Of The World PHOTOS: Best Olympic Athletes of All Time Click Here For Complete Olympics Coverage By comparison, the average man of the same age needs to ingest about 2,000 calories a day. Phelps, 23, will swim 17 times over nine days of competition at the Beijing Games - meaning that he will need all the calories he can shovel in his mouth in order to keep his energy levels high. Phelps' diet - which involves ingesting 4,000 calories every time he sits down for a meal - resembles that of a reckless overeater rather than an Olympian. Phelps lends a new spin to the phrase "Breakfast of Champions" by starting off his day by eating three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise. He follows that up with two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelet, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar and three chocolate-chip pancakes. At lunch, Phelps gobbles up a pound of enriched pasta and two large ham and cheese sandwiches slathered with mayo on white bread - capping off the meal by chugging about 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks. For dinner, Phelps really loads up on the carbs - what he needs to give him plenty of energy for his five-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week regimen - with a pound of pasta and an entire pizza. He washes all that down with another 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks. Phelps remains on course to at least equal Mark Spitz's record of seven gold medals won at the 1972 Munich Games. At these Summer Games, a typical day for Phelps starts with a 5 a.m. wake-up call. Most of his races have taken place between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET when in China - 12 hours ahead of East Coast time. |

Be gentle with me. I have a tech question.
I just read that AMD has released a video card called the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2. I think that's nice. I've always had NVidia cards in the past, but I only hold a loyalty to the best product. I love competition. Anyways, here's my question. I have a PCI Express motherboard, but it has software onboard for SLI. Can I buy two of those new AMD cards and get them to work in my motherboard? Or would I have to go buy a new motherboard to run this video card. Also, does AMD (ATI, whatever) have any kind of equivelency to SLI? And again, can I get that to run on my motherboard if they do?
Thanks guys! |
