There's two reasons why I don't take stuff like this seriously.

You're calling him a liar?  I know some people are cynical, I guess I've always been what people would call naive.  I tend to lean towards believing someone until they give me reason otherwise.  Especially someone like him who has his public reputation to consider.

The only time I am not believing of what someone tells me is when it is just obvious they are lying.  I think for the most part people are or at least try their hardest to be honest.  You probably think I'm naive though.  Oh well, just the way I am.  Kind of always been that way.

Yes, I'm calling him a liar.

The only time I believe what someone tells me is if I have reasonable evidence proving it...I'm not asking for 100% irrefutable proof, but with this alien stuff, they have nothing to go on but their own word and the testimony of a few people who say that they have had an encounter...I'm sorry but i'm not convinced.

So, you consider someone a liar until you are presented with 100% irrefutable proof?

Okay, if you want to look at people that way.  I guess that takes trust out of the picture for everyone in your life.  Kind of a scary world you live in.

I cried when both of my grandfathers died.  My grandmothers are still around.

I couldn't help it.  I just miss them so much and knew at the time it would be tough.  Our family is really close and I learned a lot from them.

There's nothing wrong with crying.  If you do it, then don't feel weak or anything.

I will say a prayer for you, your grandpa, and your family.

I made a warlock.  Very interesting class.  I was a bit confused about him at first, but once I realised how to work the spell weaving and the chambers I'm really getting into him.

I was really excited when I got to my second chamber spell and realized that I get to carry two loaded ones.  I'm assuming that it is the same when you get the next two as well???  Is that right.  I think it would be awesome to have 4 loaded chambers floating around my head ready to meat out damage.

Any suggestions you guys can give me?  I have been putting everything in Witchcraft so far.  Is that good, or when do most people split and start putting points in the other specs?

Yeah, but what do they consider a video game?

My mom plays those little browser games like on MSN, but I would not call her a "gamer" by any stretch of my imagination.

I don't like WoW, but I will give them credit for being the best MMO technically wise.

Well, Blizzard aimed low with the graphics for WoW.  They figured they could compensate for the low technical quality with high artistic quality.  Some don't like it.  Some do.  Overall, I think it was a calculated move that payed off.  More importantly, they simply put a ton of work into the engine.  WoW's pretty damn polished.  You only ever find bugs or performance issues in a few select places.

Bugs?  Shartuul's Transporter and a few Netherwing Dailies spring to mind as having obvious, persistent, and annoying bugs.  Other than that, they tend to be exceedingly rare.

Performance?  The filter they slapped on the phasing effect for the Sunwell portal daily gives me some issues.  Dunno about anybody else.

That's what it really boils down to.  Polish.  It's not that other studios aren't capable of the same level of polish.  It's that the resources simply aren't available to others.  Blizzard is larger by a factor of five or six than the biggest independent MMORPG studio.  It also has a very high level of operational freedom and a lot of financial resources available.  If a studio is willing to invest in scale, it can match that kind of polish.  Turbine and LotRO is a good example.  If they want to stay small, their results might be less than optimal.  If you want to look at some of the potential downsides of small and nimble, look at Funcom and AoC's launch.

I wonder what would happen if you took the WoW graphics engine and loaded some of the textures for a game like say, uhmmmm...,  EQ2 or Vanguard or one of the other higher end graphic games.

What I mean is, I wonder if their graphics engine is really all that good, or is it just an average graphics engine running smaller sized textures.  I also wonder if it could stand a graphics upgrade later on if Blizzard decided to do so by just increasing the textures but doing nothing with the graphics engine.

Why the big difference?  Why, why, why?

They have good programmers and the textures aren't that detailed in WoW.

Yeah, I  understand they have good programmers.  But does that mean that Blizzard's programmers are just eons ahead of the others?

If so, what kind of skill is it that they possess that is making their programs load so quick.  I guess I'm trying to get a technical person to give me a really good answer in layman terms.  Like a person who is the Michio Kaku of the greasy nerd programming world.

Wait a minute.

Did I see the video and hear it right?  I got the impression he and another black council member were in agreement on this.  It sounded like two of them were calling the poor guy a racist.

They should be kicked out of office by the voters.  Oh wait, I bet they keep running in a predominately black district that votes for them because they throw pep rally's talking about how bad whitey is to get their voters pumped up.  Just my guess...

Heh, I've known a guy with tourettes...I assure you that the disease is in fact real...But again, like ADD, ADHD, and autism, it's impossible to know how many cases are misdiagnosed, and I agree that Savage went about this the wrong way, but you need to give his listeners more credit for being able to think for themselves...I know that they are a predominantly conservative audience so many of you write them off at the door...but that's not at all realistic and I think that those of you who do that are probably aware of it.

I think there are some radical conservatives just as real as the radical liberals.  They are out there man.

I live in the deep south (Alabama).  I don't know if you've ever been down here before, but if you haven't then all I can say is you would not believe some of the things you see and hear going on.  It's incomprehensible to me at times.

I promise you, there is a group of conservatives (fairly large down here) who have no quarrels in believing some completely outlandish shit.  I mean, there are people down here who still speak of the times of lynchings as the glory days of the south, a time when people knew where they belonged in society!  And you see it and hear it every freakin' day.

I know that the rest of the country (northeast, northwestern and western parts) have moved on for the most part, but this fundamentalist group down here is bitter and don't plan on going anywhere or changing anytime soon.

Once you've been down here a while you learn to spot it.  Even in the most subtle of hints of conversation you can learn to spot it.  And when those people get around someone with their own views and let loose, man your ears would melt off the sides of your head!

I promise you, they look to someone like this and see the coming Messiah.  The stereotype of hateful redneck is no more false than the liberal stereotype that is ruining this country from the other end.

Oh don't get me wrong, I do know that extremes exist on either side...luckily people like that have no real say in anything that goes on in this country and are rightfully marginalized.

You must have never been here then.  They're not too marginalized here.  That's the honest truth.

I think you'd be surprised at some of the things you hear out in the open in Alabama.  I hope to leave some day.  As soon as I graduate I'm going to try to find a job as a livestock veterinarian in the northern midwest.  I have some good friends here, but the general climate of the deep south is so uninspiring.

This is no place for a Libertarian such as myself.  Live and let live is more like, "get in line boy".

while his approach may be wrong and politically incorrect, I do see his point.

Everyone these days are putting excuses to children's misbehavior.  When I was a Priest I held a seminar on Autism and how to handle a child who is autistic.

Many children are misdiagnose with autism as well as Attention Deficit Disorder when they simply do not have it.  Doctors hand out prescription medication for the kids to supress them rather than really get to the root to the problem; its like pills are a cure all to anything versus other alternatives.

Many parents are also getting doctors to label their children as autistic. An autistic child will get you $800 a month from the US Government until they turn 18.

When you were a priest?  I thought you guys just put these cases in the "Demonic Possession" file and started flinging holy water at them.

You know what I find kind of ironic here (and I'm not saying you do this, Enigma.  I'm just saying)?  It seems that some of the same people who find this great conspiracy of the unwashed masses is possible, yet somehow no one can see a conspiracy taking place against us when it comes to government.

If parents can commit this conspiracy for $800 a month, what could motivate some governmental power hungry chumps to do what they could do?

What do you propose we do with the bottom 10% then?  You do realize that their parents pay just as much taxes as the top 10% do?

I think that most of the public school systems are doing what they are designed to do.  They are designed to educate the kids whose parents cannot afford to put them in private schools.  They are also designed to be as equitable as possible since every tax payer pays into them.

If you want something better for your children, then pay for a private school.  But I don't know how your going to change the public school systems too much without leaving behind that bottom 10% you talk about.  They are just as important to a public school as every other child there.

Whats wrong with America?  How about public school systems grade K-12.  I grew up half in the U.S. and half in Japan, because my father was in the Air Force.  The education I recieved overseas from Department of Defense schools was way superior than the public schools in the U.S.

Want to take that a step further?  My Japanese counterparts went to school 6 Days a week, and they had longer days and more extra-cirricluar activities.  The public schools in America need a huge revamp.  Students are getting dumber (test scores are proof) when compared to other Nations worldwide.

And you have the nerve to point out that those smarter individuals from other countries are coming to OUR Universities?  They should be full of American students, but they are not.

I went to Arizona State University, took an upper level physics class, walked in on the first day and there were a bunch of Indian, and Asian people in the class and was like, whoa wtf?  Where are all the American kids?  Oh yeah, they probably dropped out of high school, or couldn't get into a good college because their test scores/GPA sucked.

Great point!

I'd like to add on to that about some of the things I find wrong with America right now.

  • Our tax system is way over intrusive.  What happened to our privacy?  Why does the government have to know how much I am compensated from my employer at all?  If you feel the need to use the government and point it's guns towards me to steal my money, then why do you also feel it necessary to go through my pay records as well?  Get out of my pocket!
  • Back to lack of privacy; our government "security" forces have gotten way too much into our private lives.  I don't want to depend on the government to take care of me.  It can't do the job, and when the chips are absolutely down, it won't.  It will only take care of its own and 99% of the time it only shows up to do a half ass job after the damage is done.  Searching my grandma's shoes in the airport is not making me feel all fuzzy and warm.  Get off of our backs and do something meaningful if you feel the need to do anything.
  • Our borders are wide open.  And neither of the two major parties have any intention of changing that.  We're spending billions on a stupid war building up another country while ours is being invaded.  And we can't even spend a few dollars here to build a wall or put more people along the border.
  • Our spirit for exploration is gone.  We should be much further into space than we are now.  I don't care what anyone says, the benefits of space travel far outweigh the costs.  If there is any question then look at all the technology that came from our moon voyage.  We used to be the nation everyone looked to for innovation and exploration.  We suck now.  We're a shell of that old mission.  I can't stand it either, it makes me sick to think so many people have given up on one of the things we were most good at.  And they've also turned their backs on the benefits that could come from more exploration.  I think it's mostly because people are just too damn stupid to even care or to have the curiosity it takes to travel further into space.  They're more interested in reality television, acting like whores, and sports "icons".
  • Our government is much much much too big.  It's the largest employer in our nation.  That is ridiculous.  And the only people that it hires are for the most part idiots.  Ever been to the DMV?  Ever tried to get something done at the Social Security office?  Nothing but a bunch of ghetto trash.  People that suck up to the teet of big government in their mediocre jobs and feel like they're getting somewhere in life.  I'm tired of the losers that the government is supporting by stealing my money.  Get rid of all these government programs and jobs and these people will have to do something with themselves.  I feel sorry for them all because they've had a good life stolen from them by the government.  All of their motivation and inspiration has been siphoned off and disposed of.
  • Globalization.  Bleh!  I'm tired of hearing that it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.  I ain't buying it.  Our country used to be strong and it was in large part because of manufacturing jobs.  Globalization has sent all those jobs away.
  • Our latest batch of imperialist minions.  Why the hell did we go to Iraq?  What's the real reason?  And why are people still trying to fool themselves into believing otherwise?  If we have a president worried about national security, then he would use his executive powers to seal the borders from people sneaking in.  It's a scam and people are still believing this man and his administration.

I could go on.  It just makes me sad to have to state all this.  I love this country, well what it stands for in historic ideology at least.  Freedom and liberty are worth fighting for.  There is hardly anyone who cares about those principles in D.C. these days.  It's a power grab is all.  It makes me sad to no end.

There is a lot wrong with this country right now.  At times I feel like I'm on a sinking ship being taken over by the enemy of our country's founding papers.  We're not okay and I don't feel good about it.

In other words they will beleive they will be punished for trying.    And yes i believe unfair taxation is a punishment.
Not to mention the fact the kid skratches his head wondering how is this fair to the rich?
So why will they bother? It's not like they will get to keep  the wealth they create. That hurts us all in the long run.

Actually, I don't think kids think that much these days.  I think you're giving them too much credit.

Not sure what your PC specs are, but I would just stick with a PC and upgrade some part (or spend money on something else)  instead of buying a Xbox360.

I've got a pretty nice computer.  Definitely better than what a 360 can do.

I just thought there might be something I was missing out on.  Like I said, every time I looked at the 360 games at the store it seemed to me that the 360 was just acting like a DirectX gaming computer for the poor.  Not anything more than that.

That is one thing I respect my Wii for.  Never regretted buying that little guy.  He was built to be different, and they succeeded.  I wish the other console developers would come up with something to make them a different product that is worth the time.  Not something that is trying to copy the PC.

Point taken.  Thanks.

I do not have the patience to play a FPS on the console.  Tried it for a while and ended up feeling my muscles tense up to the point that I got a throbbing headache.  I guess some people can stand FPS with the input sticks, but it drove me bonkers.

Thanks for the honest answer!  I was thinking of buying one, but I buy things sometimes without thinking.  A compulsion I guess.

I will spend the money on a new burner or something pretty, like a new ball cap.

Is it worth it for a PC gamer such as myself to buy a 360?  From what I've seen, everything worth playing on the 360 is either out on the PC or eventually comes out on the PC anyways (if not PC first).

It seems that the 360 is just a DirectX computer for the poor.

And NO, I do not like Halo!  So if you're going to suggest I get one to play a FPS, forget it.  I'd rather sand the enamel off of my teeth and then chew on ice.  It would be much less frustrating.

Just one example of how this economy is changing peoples lives.
