(Tanking Mechanic) Large Scale PvE with Tanks [VS] Large Scale PvE without Tanking mechanics? Whats the Better choice?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/31/09 6:52:40 AM
No Tanking - really imo its just lame. Plus it takes like 2 guys out of the game basically because they just stand there pressing their skills. People are talking alot about viable options how about:1.) In the case of Big Boss fights, instead how about change it to a strategy/puzzle game where you have to lure a dragon out of his cave and crush him with a huge ass boulder or bridge of khazad dum style , you hide behind natural defenses whilst he uses his KILL Skill and then cast or shoot at him to lure him out they do that in other types of games. 2.) Millions of Minions; instead of the guy tanking a trillion guys why not cause most likely if its a trillion guys they are all 1hit kills oh i dunno use AOE skills or maybe have it so the ai doesnt run up and beat you all at once like Assassins creed or martial arts movies where your surrounded but they attack you one at a time. developers could implement a multi targeting system or stance like in the whitcher, it could work. thats all my ideas devolopers have to start looking out of the RPG world for inspiration and realise where not all 12years old and retarded.

the only really problem about GW1 and which i think they are going to fix in GW2 is character advancement beyond max level. In gw1 you could get to max level in a day of solid gaming and then have no real problem finishing the story line. The only things you had to advance (PvE Wise) your character really are some prestige armor and weapons (which are the same as regular armor/weapons but more pretty), you could get some grind some titles which has little benifet except for chest running, and the fact theres no crafting. In PvP you can again get titles that give you emote of a deer, wolf, tiger, phoenix and dragon (1person has the dragon and you need to sell you soul and you sister for it), you can get other titles that correspond to the type of PvP you do. A very cool aspect of GW is Alliance Battles and i hope they bring this over to GW2, this is where you fight as a luxon or kurzick (whatever one you guild is alligned to) and your reward is Balthazar faction points (which can be used to unlock skills, armor and weapons for PvP) and Kurzick/Luxon Faction points (which can be used to trade in for materials for armor in pve ). the K/L Faction can also be used towards your guilds total where you can take over a certain Town in the guilds wars:factions where you have acess to cheaper merchants and thats it really, other than if your not alligned to the faction thats holding that certain town you cant use the merchants there. err i think thats everything maybe i cant remember why im even writing this now shit |

Guild Wars 2 "A full 250 years after the original Guild Wars, massive upheavals, cataclysms, and globe-spanning events have changed the world of Tyria. Human civilization is in decline. Other races are rising up, taking control over large portions of the world; the balance of power has shifted. The dragons have awoken. " blah blah blah.... anyways Anet a keeping very hush hush about this new game i mean frickin SW:OR was just announced and they have screenshots, now its expected to be released or go into beta 2009/10, so another year away and they'll be about 6 players still playing GW. As one of thoose mmorpg that i consider to have somesort of realism (no cartoonie anime shite or WoW style) and with the disapointment in AOC this is really one of the only games ive been looking forward too and i would like to see at least some trailers or sneak peaks into whats going on down there, i live close to seatle so dont make me come down there! this concludes my rant about nothing. chin chin.
