I'm glad it was canned, Halo was nothing but unreal tournament reskinned and given a different story. Hello Kitty Online would be a better game than that.

Personally, i think they are trying to destroy humanity, 2 scum of the earth vainly preserving their dna in space....

I seriously think that all this is just a marketing ploy to get more players and viewers. Well you won't get me!!!

WoW is not ranked number one for two reasons:

[*]MMORPG.com is full of angry, disgruntled players who tend to either be elitist/snobby or bitter, and vote against the status quo at every possible opportunity in an attempt to tear down success
The people who are enjoying WoW are either playing the game and not wasting time here slamming it, or are the casual type who do not lurk on MMORPG websites and post their opinions

If you polled every single MMORPG player, otherwise known as taking a census, and asked them what the best MMORPG is, WoW would win. The problem is the sample voting here is not representative of the MMORPG community as a whole. This is a niche community and WoW is not a niche game - it is actually a successful one.
Anyway, always take reviews, opinions, and rankings here with a grain of salt. They mean almost nothing at all.
By the way, I do not currently play WoW but if I were to vote, I would say right now it is the best MMORPG on the market. It is stable, it is full of content, it caters to casual and hardcore players, it has PvE and PvP, and it is polished to a diamond-like brilliance.
But it will still be bashed as the devil of MMORPGs, despite somehow managing to be the most successful MMORPG of all time. Go figure.

Completely wrong. They want to know why WoW isnt ranked #1 here. Its verry easy to figure out. It has nothing to do with being an eliteist, snobby or anything else. People here are dying for something new.  Most here are MMO vets who have played the classics and want something similar. They are also tired of seeing games come out that arent trying to improve on the industry but are just trying to copy WoW's sucess and they blame WoW for it.....and rightfully so.
Just because people here dont follow the masses like sheep doesnt make them snobby, disgruntled or eliteists. It makes them there own person. Sorry you cant handle that.

WRONG! no one from Blizzard is putting a gun on ANY of these companies heads and saying "DO IT MORE LIKE WOW!". Face it, the reason why the games YOU want to succeed aren't succeeding is, because they don't have the cojones to try something different and follow their own vision. They're sheep, they're followers, that's why they're not putting out the games you want to play with the game mechanics you want to play.

It's more like the publishers see wow's subscription numbers, and see all those pretty dollar signs. So they force the developers that they are paying, to make the game more like wow so they can make that kind of money. If Eve Online had that kind of subscriber base, and made that kind of money, instead of  wow, then every publisher would make the game more like Eve. Developers usually don't get the chance to make the game they want to make. He who controls the check book controls the world.

Michael Moorcock, the great author (creator of Elric of Melniboné, and many other fantastic characters), invented the term Multiverse back in the 60s and has been using it extensively in virtually all his books since. I wonder why these guys fail to mention that at least.

I would assume it is because they made the engine for the firefly mmorpg initially. And in firefly they call the universe, the multiverse(whether or not joss whedon pulled it from moorcock is unbeknownst to me.).

It's not malware. It's a hacking prevention application just like GameGuard. The reason certain mouse buttons and your g15 keys don't work is most likely because they are run by a software program. Xtrap sees these, and prevents them from being able to access the game executable to prevent macros and hacks from working in the game.

In order to get them to work, you'd probrably need to contact the company that made Xtrap and get them to add support for the software that you are running for those components.

Slide, I think the point that air was trolling to make was that all of these features have been found in MMOs that long predate EVE.

You claiming that EarthRise is borrowing things from EVE puts you right in the same camp as people who claim that WAR is borrowing from WoW.

QFT. The only thing on the list that I can say with 90% confidence, that earthrise has borrowed from eve is offline skilling (which is retarded btw, game breaker for me personally, even if i have the chance to get in at the beginning, making me more powerful than someone who starts late and can't catch up).

I remember being put into a seemingly gated off area after leaving the elf intro instance. There was a way out, i don't remember how(i haven't been there in a looong time). It sounds like the gm put you where you were supposed to go after finishing the intro instance.

p.s. i'm not ripping on you, i'm not trying to say your lying or anything of the sort. Just what it seems like to me from what you've said so far. It's easy to become disoriented and overlook things when you start a new game, even for genre vets.

In issue 177(january 2008) of game informer, they reviewed fury, and gave it terrible scores, and said guildwars was better, lol. And that the network performance is weak, and "even the smallest amounts of latency can change the outcome of a match". Honestly, i don't think they played the game for more than 20 minutes. The reviewer had also said "it's just a mess, and it doesn't get any better as you become familiar with the game", which is just retarded.

Here's a link to the review:

www.gameinformer.com/NR/exeres/EB3257CC-5624-4EC6-B61D-44BBFD67A8DA.htm

I personally think it's complete bs aside from the ui isn't very good(and that the reviewers are furries).

Firefoot (USA) has plenty of ppl of all levels. No matter where i go, i always run into someone i haven't met before. It doesn't feel dead to me at all. If i do a who search, yes, it usually comes up pretty empty, but that's due to most of the population are anonymous.

Whether in different countries or different stages of life, males are undoubtedly drawn to gameplay. men can step into development and create games for new generations, but diversity is essential as well. By relating to both men and women, researchers and developers can analyze game play, which is invaluable to the growth of games, as concluded by the wide range of panelists at the Games conference.

look I can write too.  I truely fail to get why a girl gamer is any different than male(except the the few that want to be applauded for it, they likely make life harder for the rest).

I think the problem is that most of these feminist women want to be treated special. They don't want true equality. I don't care whether your a chick or a dude, if your a cool person, and we play well together, i'll continue to play with you, but you won't get any special treatment from me if your a girl. I don't ooo and aww when i find out that the person that's playing that female avatar is actually a female avatar. I've played plenty of games with females in my 10 years of mmo gaming. I've actually had someone get pissed off at me because i wasn't giving items away to a female avatar for free.

In summation, you want true equality? Then accept to be treated just as men do.

I think they DO want true equality in the way that they wont be benefitted or not benefitted for being a woman...I do however think they would like to be talked to a little different.... I mean talking about how hot your girlfriend isnt interesting for many females. And despite people calling "mate/m8 and dude etc" gender neutral it does ring a little masculine..and not all women like that ;)

I sit through listening to women talk about things that i'm not interested about, and many men aren't interested in, but i don't go on a crusade trying to make them stop. I can easily ignore it, or if they are talking directly to me, i tell them just like i would tell a guy who's talking to me about something i really don't care for. Which is "I don't much care" or "I don't really want to talk about this" and leave it at that.

only wing elf's get to fly from lvl 1, human and beasts get to fly at lvl 30. but beasts do get to transform into animals, which i believe does give a ground speed boost.

It definitely is a good game though. The only problems for me is that i have to translate english to english cause of the localization is pretty bad, and that they allow kanji characters for names and  chat (which means a) i have no idea what's being said, and b) can't put those people on friends/ignore list (unless i make a copy of the name and use the windows character map to cross compare and find the ascii numbers of the symbols)

TR was boring. I tried the beta. Was turned off immediately when I realized how boring the combat was. No shooter game should make me shoot a monster ten times just to kill it, especially during the introduction tutorial. That told me right then and there that this wasn't a true shooter game. Just more boring RPGish combat with guns.

And to the OP, your SIG makes no freaking sense.

NOBODY forced any of those companies to sell to EA. All of those developers wanted a bigger piece of the pie and thought that EA would give it to them. They got greedy and sold out. Please, don't blame EA. Some of their games are actually quite good. Too bad you miss out on them because of your misdirected protest.

Sounds to me you should stay FAR AWAY from MMO's since they don't seem to be your cup of tea, ^_^

TR has exciting fast paced intense combat action. Many people would actually agree, well those who enjoy MMO's and FPS games. Combining the two was probably the greatest Idea I've ever seen implemented correctly..

But to say it will rival WoW made me do one of these,  followed by this gesture,  until I felt a bad taste in my mouth which caused me to do this,

I seriously doubt right now it even competes with WoW. Lets see how the end game is first before making any of those statements.. Right now the game is alot of fun, but we'll see just how much longer this lasts..

I'm only level 15 but I can honestly say its to easy. I soloed all 3 instances at level 11. That is insane. Even WoW's instances require a full group, unless your a Rogue/Druid and can stealth to some of the named mobs, ^_^  I hope the instances in TR gets harder and requires a group to complete,, if not people will breeze through the game solo and it will be like playing an FPS game with some MMO elements.. If thats the case, I'd probably be bored after a month and move on to something else :(

I have played MMOs, they being my favorite genre of games, since the very late 90s. I think MMOs are my cup of tea. What is not my cup of tea is NON-FPS combat in a sci-fi game. All I want is true twitch combat when I'm using guns. Is that too much to ask for?

While what you say about TR having fast and exciting combat (say compared to your typical fantasy MMO) it utterly fails when you compare it to the kind of combat experienced in FPS. This is the kind of marriage I want: MMO + FPS. Take the boring, turn-based RPG combat out!!! It simply isn't fast enough (to me) for these kinds of games and utterly turned me off to TR!!

Check out a game called borderlands, it's not out yet, but should be sometime Q4 08.

not an mmo, but it has mmo kinda feel to it, and you can play online or off with up to 4 ppl.

but i got to agree with the OP, he makes a valid point. Why would anyone play a pvp game without beeing able to get rank? So to state its f2p is at best missleading. I have no problem with the actual cost 10$, its next to nothing. Its the principle of making a false advertiment stating you can pvp and compete without a monthly fee in this game(who the hell competes without beeing able to be in the ranking system?).

So i will have to consider if im actually gona invest money into this game. I was 100% sure before i read the OPs post, now im not totally convince anymore. But if the game gets some good revives im sure i cant keep away from it :).

ummm....you can get rank without playing, you just can't participate in the weekly or seasonal ladders without being an immortal...hasn't this been said already?
