I love my cleric but I must be doing something wrong with the points. I am a Sentinel / Warden / Purifier build with most points in Sent and Purifier, level 23 atm.

I was in DSM (the mine on defiant side) and a Chloromancer was out healing me big time. I have to time my heals on the tank because they take so freaking long to cast.

Does anyone have some advice? I like to heal in the group as my role, but I don't like being out healed by someone that it isn't their primary role.

He didnt say they already had.

He said: "They are adding to staff. " That statement implies that new staff has come on board, or is in the process of coming on board (i.e. have been hired and will start work shortly). The truth is that no, they are not; DStahl is talking to Jack about doing so, but they are not actually adding to their staff yet.

I don't see why they couldn't add staff. Just my opinion, as I've seen this done in some job fields. As some projects get done, for example Daggerdale and they cut back on staff (on that project) that could allow for a hire/s in the STO team. Like taking money out of one pocket and putting it in the other.

Try the EQ2 Extended the F2P just to see if you like the gameplay, combat, crafting, etc. Then if you like it go to a paid server if you like. But it doesn't cost you anything to try EQ2X just to see if it will run on your computer well and to see how it feels.

I voted for Rift, but sadly there is no trial. Both games are really good.

Does this site help you with crafting blazin-ace? I haven't tried crafting in STO, but I do use this site for help with walkthroughs and guides. Maybe it will help you some.

http://stoacademy.com/guides/crafting.php

I don't care about the financial stuff. I don't think think Atari, STO, CO or Cryptic is going away as some would hope. Anyways...

I just wanted to say I am really interested in the XBLA game Dungeons and Dragons, Daggerdale. It looks like a good dungeon run with friends. Will see what Xbox Fanboy says when they do a playthrough.

Thanks for reminding me of this game, I forgot about it.

The only thing that has me worried is they are pushing for both platforms, PC and PS3. So just a guess the controls will be like DCUO. I guess which isn't bad, I was just hoping for a little more involvement from the keyboard to the UI. I'll wait and see. Wish they would just release an ingame screenshot already.

This is supposed to be a screenshot (or so say PC gamer):

Not bad. Thanks for posting it. What are your thoughts on the screenshot?

"Firefox + noscript + adblockPlus = no problems with websites" Agree!

Same, except I use admuncher. Well worth the money for it. No ads in online streaming videos!!

I'm not going to go back and try to quote everyone in this discussion, but I did read them all...

I stand by my assessment that STO is crap.

So what is your favoriate game? I'm pretty sure if I go look at its forums that there will be people saying it sucks too.

The converation is about Cryptic and STO/CO/CoX . Mostly about STO, I'm sorry it hurts your sensiblities and pride in the game , to hear these opinions. That doesn't make them any less valid or true, then even yours. Calling people trolls or attempting set strawman arguements are not valid responses.  The discussion is about  Cryptic and or STO /CO/CoX. In an earlier post you take a demure stance and pretend you don't want to change minds , yet you persist on engaging in questions peoples choices of games they like or play to what purpose ? To show that those games are imperfect. We get it. we already know that . We've chosen those games because they are lessv ( much less ) imperfect then any product Cryptic spews out.

It's a perfectly valid question. You simply just love playing the forums.  Edward is right, go to any game forum on this site and you'll see negative comments about a game. Mostly people playing the forums. They don't care if a game sucks. I could care less if a game sucks because I move on and don't play the forums to no ends and  constantly bash or post negative arguments about the game. Who cares? Only people who love to play the forums...over a VIDEO GAME.

The difference here being, it is almost all the critics (go see metacritic for a laugh), the majority of people who have ever played the game (and canceled), Cryptic's own marketing people (who cut the price down to almost nothing) and last but not least, the executives who are or were in charge of the game are all saying that.

When the executives in charge of any game, either get fired (as 2 of 3 were in 8-9 months after launch and another last week) or come out and apologize for how bad their game is/was, that is not "people on the forums saying is sucks".

That is an acknowledgement by everyone involved, that it sucks.

Except for a few diehard fans, that is.

Still doesn't mean the game is not fun. Even if by your claim the majority do not find it fun. You don't know the current sub numbers to give a factual opinion that a mass majority left.  You can quote tons of critics, forum posts, or whatever but you still don't have a percentage of people that quit. So all you have is just an opinion that you think the game stinks based on what you read or by your own person experience. Doesn't mean the game will suck for someone else.  And it doesn't mean the game sucks when it sells for $2.50. Just sucks in your opinion. I got Tabula Rasa for almost as cheap and had an absolute blast till the very end.  No regrets.

If I read and listened to posters in these forums or went by critcs reviews I wouldn't play a single game, watch a move, or read a book. It's all opinion. The best thing anyone can do is try it out for themselves.

Here is the actual statement in question, and for the record it was made by Zinc(the former lead designer who is no longer working at Cryptic):

You have subscribed to a service that delivers a universe unending, and we shall see that universe populated with compelling content or, by the Prophets, we will die trying.

Some people get that. Some people don't. We're here for those that do.

Throughout development, we guessed Star Trek Online might be polarizing. Some people don't get it and some people simply don't like it... But, others fall in love with their ships and captains and bridge officers. Those are the ones who can't live without beaming down to strange, new planets and participating in lively stories.

We guessed this and still we made a conscious decision to not water things down and go "mass market". Frankly, I think that's perfectly OK. Because, no matter what, there will be one single thing, now and forever, that drives everything we do: you.

We have a very healthy -- and healthily testy -- core community that gets it. And there's nothing we look forward to more than working together to make STO better.

Thank you. Maybe it won't get used so much now by the trolls. Wait..nevermind

Would be better for me if I could make an old man or old woman mage. I loved making a old man Loremaster in LOTRO.  They also need beards and not just on dwarfs.

What you have to look forward to.

Please point or link to me a better post where Jack said, "They just don't get it." I read that thread and cannot find where he said that.

LOL.  I don't think I'll ever understand why people find it necessary to go to a forum, crap on a game, and then continue to follow up with multiple posts defending their position and attempting to convince people who are enjoying the game that they are wrong.

By all means, post that you don't like the game and explain why.  But, then you can go have fun doing what you do.  No further input required.

Memo to the haters: we are not wrong.  If we enjoy something, then that is our prerogative.  Your opinion or that of any other stranger will have no effect on that.  If I agree not to go to the forum of a game you enjoy and try to convince you you're an idiot for having fun will you leave us alone?

I think you have the a mistaken opinion. Personnally , i take offence with people that come on and state that it's great , fantastic etc.. and list a whole litany of things that STO has or has added , improved . Basically misrepresenting the facts , in their enthusiasm .

I couldn't care less that you enjoy the game , ( that's why you have the STO forums , for like minded individuals to huddle together in there dwindling numbers and kiss dev butt , bcause that's about all you can do there, and be denigrated by the Dev, CEO or CM's )  What I do care about are the misrepresentation , exaggreations , distortions and generalizations, that start with the Company and players perpetuate.

I take exception to people coming on and saying that unless you play the game, you don't know what you're talking about. I take exception to people differentiating that content added to the C-Store is somehow different from the gameplay content. Understand that content is content , if it makes you feel better that gameplay content is somehow different then C-Store items content , fine.  Those people are dilusional and console themselves with the fact that Cryptic is not spending more time on those C-Store items then on the gameplay. Breakdown any engineering report and look at the items they list and ask  ' how much is headed for C-Store "  ?  Like I said dilusional.

They have a small team, smaller then most small resturants, DStahls words. (I can link the quote if interested )  I'm happy people like the game , it's a small part of the gaming community , I just object to the misrepresentation that consistently appears on this forum. I would never suggest someone avoid the game. I believe everyone should try it, that wants to . I would never endorse anyone paying for this game however. The sole purpose of this game is to separate you from as much money as possible , while delivering as little as possible. ( ex : the emblem prices for the C-Store ships, etc.. ) Just because it's Star Trek doesn't make it good, if that were the case Champions Online would be considered a success, since STO is just a reskin of CO basically. If your opinion differs , it's your money to do with as you like .

And at the end of all of this..... it's still your opinion (not factual).

Not an english native speaker so sorry for any mistakes.

This game is, in my opinion, one of the best MMOs out on the market. It has a fantastic atmosphere, very exciting and immersive quests (quest-lines), beautiful graphics, excellent sound and a very good dev team, who listen to the community and take care of the game.  I wouldn't call a Dev team the has the "They Just Don't Get It" attitude very careing and listening.

STO has been misunderstood in the beginning, everyone wanted a Sci-Fi-WOW and got disappointed by learning that the game strucuture and mechanics of STO are completely different.  No one wanted a Sci-Fi WOW game, but that is what we got, a shoot first and blow things up and ask no questions game.

It's slow paced, it's not about jumping around and smashing buttons, it's not (so much) about collecting items and rewards.  That is exactaly what it is about, jumping around and smashing buttons.

You have to turn your ship into the right position, you have to use shields and other gadgets in ground combat at the right time a.s.f., everything at a slow, tactical pace.  There is nothing tacticle about space or ground combat, the person who shoots first with the most usually wins and the battle is usually one big slow circle.

It's about having a great, exciting and fun experience on your way to the highest level. It's not about getting to max level as fast as possible to then play the endgame. I am commander 8 now (playing 4 MMOs at the same time right now, STO, DCUO, Rift (beat) and AOC), although I play from the day of release now and I didn't even once think about wich level I am now and how long it will take to get to max level. I simply enjoy the present adventuring experience.

Maybe one off its main problems is that the game does  not fit into the US market because of its different play style. Here in germany, I know a lot of happy players who would never quit. (This is NOT a judging in any ways !) Well it is good to know that Cryptic will always have a market in Germany.

I played 11 MMOs so far, each  to max. level and a minimum of 6 month, and I have never witnessed such a great peace of art like STO to this point.  I would love to know what 11 mmo's you played to make this statement.

STO has evolved a lot since release and I can only recommend to anyone to try it out, play it open minded and give it a little time to undestand it. You will get a wonderful game if you like star trek or science fiction in general.  You are correct, STO did evolve alot since it launched in pre-beta stage.  At this point in time STO is or would be in the last stages of Beta before being released.

Boy, you must be a really angry guy with your negative, intolerant comments and your red color. Someone asked for opinions, I gave mine. Boy, you're really angry.....any heavy disappointments in your life ?

you seem to be confusing anger with honesty fightingdonk. you made a lot of statements in your post that most mmo players would consider misleading at best.

And I would say you are confusing anger with opinion. Both are.

You mean MMORPG.com? Of course, this site is filled with negative people. Pick a forum and show me raving bliss for a game.

If you are more tempted to believe people on this site when deciding to pick a game or what the game may be like, well I almost feel sorry for you. If that was the case I would not be playing one damn MMO out there.
