I think the people who play TR are looking forward to the pvp map. It got a lot of comments the other night when the dev popped in general chat for a few minutes.

I look at the pvp that is going into the game as a type of wargames. If the militaries around the world compete in wargames as training exercises why can't that be done in TR?

I don't care much for pvp but the clans I run into in the game a lot are PVP clans.

Mindspat or anyone that got a chance to try out the hirelings last night what are your thoughts on them?

I agree with you there. I like and will continue to play it as well. It's all on what you find fun. If you don't like the game or don't play it anymore, seriously ... it's time to move on.

Oh I so 100% agree, or risk your disagreement/agrument will be constantly reported. I just wished blocked people wouldn't show up in reply quotes.

But yes it is a good debate thread.

Hello guys/girls. I have a question, how are the graphics in DDO? I am looking for people who play the game fully maxed out and such, does it look decent? Bad, good? I read up on other info but I was still curious about this. I saw they are adding new DX10 shaders or something in Mod 8.

Lastly, is it easy to get a free trial and does it include the newest updates? Is a CC required? I hate inputting my CC for a trial because sometimes I forget to cancel. Thanks in advance.

I can tell a big increase in looks compared to DX9 to DX10 in game. I have a ATI 3870 x2 and it is maxed for this game. I don't think it is as impressive as LOTRO, but it still looks pretty amazing. DX 10 and mod 8 are already in for the NA version of the game.

Check a few posts below this one, someone posted DX10 screenshots.

If you get the trial you'll want to get the high-res client to get the DX10. I can't answer you're question about the CC info, sorry. Maybe you could sign up and immediatly cancel? That should let you still finish the trial period.

Not saying this will fix it, but Microsoft did release a new DirectX runtime this week. I cannot get it to install. But I don't think it hurts to have the latest directx.

I think this link will get you direct to the download page. If not it can be found on microsoft.com/directx

I wasn't there at launch, but in the time I have been playing under Kate the game has only gotten tons better. With the new Mod8 people, like me, that do not know the mountains of D&D rules can not make a character and it not tank in the higher levels.

It does need a retail box re-launch, but I think that has more to do with Atari than anything. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, I believe this is less of a "sale" and more of a liquidation. Recently (as in this morning) all copies of Tabula Rasa were pennied out (basically priced to $0.01 which means they are to be pulled from the shelves, destroyed and counted as loss) from all Gamestop/EBgames stores. I don't know if other retailers are following suit. It suggests that they don't plan on selling the boxes retail anymore however.

This is exacly what I think is happening. But I love all these DOOM DOOM DOOM posts. I saw the exact same thing when DDO lowered their boxes. Now gamestop/ebgames doesn't sell them anymore. But you can go to walmart in store or online and find both games there. I will correct myself there I did not see DDO at the local warlmart but did see TR. Gogamer.com also has both games for sale online, as well as amazon.com.

I saw an article about how Wal-Mart is the top retailer for US video games. Gamestop has a crappy selection "in store" for PC games. The three local ones here you almost have to ask where the PC section is. BestBuy is a lot better. At best buy saw TR and right around the corner Tabula Rasa game cards.

Turbine has admitted DDO is making them a profit. I don't think TR is a mountain of a success, but I don't think it is going anywhere anytime soon. MY OPINION.

Sorry Zspawn, I forgot you were using the EU clients. Hopefully something similar will be offered for the EU people.

TR is great,

The open world is just fine, good size, attacking CP's are alot of fun, challenging at times too.

The patches coming in the next month are going to be amazing! D14 and D15

The new Series Weapons and Armor are sweet. Tear 1/2/3 Sets, make for great end content.

The pvp is fast pace, Oh and the game isnt fantasy so im good

If you dont like the game then dont come on the forum and whine about it.

Yep, I am for sure looking forward to D15 and going back to Earth. I'm doing pretty good at getting the tier set drops. Not so much in the new series weapons. Still having fun though.

zspawn, both games are a lot of fun. The dungeon design in DDO is some of the best I think next to the old days in AC. LOTRO as you said I enjoy the open world. Both games in my opinion have a great community.

Anyways, don't forget to get your free in game item from mmorpg.com. Hey free is free!

http://www.mmorpg.com/newsroom.cfm/read/12147/Get-a-Free-In-Game-Gift.html

I think that is the link, if not check the news section here. Don't know how long it will last.

I agree spellweaver. I never made it to the dragon as our group got bugged by this guy.

After that I haven't tried VONS again.

Thirty days for 96 cents, that is a pretty good deal, in my opinion. Course you can get the 7 day free trial first and play that till time runs out then apply the code if you find you like the game. So that is something like 37 days of cheap playtime.

As SXR mentioned pretty good stuff coming even returning to earth. Now is a good time in my opinion to jump in and level a toon up to get ready for the earth stuff.

Hope you enjoy it.

I missed the first 15 minutes of it because cable modem went out. When I got in finally I found bane were invading in 3-4 areas depending on level. My max character is 39 and so I was with the 30s crowd.

Wave after wave after wave of bane would spawn. I died several times, was some lag, but not much.

At the end players who stuck around got random goodies from the devs ranging from fireworks or paint. Might have been other goodies, but all I heard about in general chat. I got white paint. Another line formed and everyone in that line got special barets.

Not as MAJOR as I expected or hyped up to be, but still fun.

Screenshots from Zhanzen for the curious...

I'm willing to look at the game again when DX10 comes out for it. For now I'm holding off.

Since Avery doesn't check his mailbox here  , does anyone know when the DX10 client for AoC is due to come out?

Will the news in the next 7 days say if a DX10 client is coming?

Probably a fine server unless your looking for the unofficial RP servers.

What class/race did you pick?

I have yet to do the pit. Everytime I get into a few groups and someone suggests it someone else recalls bad memories there and does not want to go.

But yes I agree those levels are absolutely dead levels. I logged in last night to see if anything around my level and nothing. I didn't feel like trying to form one so I went to Tabula Rasa for a little bit.

I need a good active guild I suppose. I'll have to some hunting on the official forums.

Oh and thanks for the advice you two.

I use it. I have friends that play FPS while I play a majority of MMO's. Helps when want to communicate with each other. Also with other friends who play different MMOs.  I also like how many hours it logs of you playing games.

I totally agree with you on this. My highest is lvl 9 with a lot of alts just because of this "dead zone".

What are some good dungeons between 7-11?

Tangleroot Gorge, Threnal, erh..VoN.  You can sort quests by level which would also help you get favor for the qeusts while getting exp.  .

Ok I did one long one I can't remember the name. A series of caves, then it contines outside and you go up the mountain and it finishes up top. It took all night to complete and I got a batfang earring. Has perm feather fall on it.

What dungeon was that? Does that ring a bell?
