You are completely correct. Asherons Call is hands down the best PvP game ever. If a game wants to have any chance of having great PvP, it would have to mimic AC's combat system.

If your trying AC for the first time learn the general actions and movements on a Non PvP server then join Darktide (PvP server). It is hands down the best MMO for PvP ever invented. The game doesn't totally revolve around what level you are and which items you have. It takes practice and many many deaths to become good but it's extremely enjoyable. I've played AC since 01' and to this day don't understand how others can enjoy the game by just doing quests and exploring. You want to enjoy AC? Go find someone and kill them.

I havn't found an MMO that really has music worth mentioning... most is just mediocre. The best soundtracks are FF8 and FF10 by a longshot. The time and effort put into all the Final Fantasy soundtracks is impressive to say the least.

I agree with you guys totally. It makes me furious when I get in a group that doesn't want to take some time to enjoy the game. Even if I've done the quest a few times, I try to take it slower for the people that havn't done it at all. It always confused me why people want to rush and level their charecters fast, all they will do is hit the level cap and be like... shit.

I agree totally, remaking AC with new graphics, same godly combat system, and perhaps a few new races would definantly be amazing. One thing they would HAVE to do though, is ban 3rd party programs from any new game that would be released. Don't get me wrong, I loved the plugins as much as everyone else... but it would improve the game. I don't think it will ever happen though, Turbine hasn't given a **** about AC in years...

Wow they showed pictures of a new race. For some odd reason I stopped caring about Darkfall years ago, perhaps that's because they kept saying how it would release "soon." Those that are interested in this game shouldn't get there hopes up, it probably won't release till 2010.

Hmm while I don't think it's amusing to joke in that way, I don't feel the GM's had enough reason to give a perma-ban. Perhaps a serious warning would have sufficed. Sometimes turbine can get ban-happy.

I always thought that DDO would have been interesting if players could be able to host custom made modules like in NWN. The map creator in DDO would be quite fun to work with. Unlike in NWN they have first person point of view and a real-time combat system. I can still imagine creating module with the DDO tools and watching my friends get slaughtered.   Anyone else think this would be interesting?

I started back when AD&D Second Edition was out. It was fun but in many ways was too complex. Don't get me wrong -- a game with a lot of content makes it better. But I found that the game rules had exceptions and special situations for everything... I found that half the game was spent flipping through the books to find out who was right or wrong when it came to a debate. I didn't like 3.0 at all because it unbalanced the game completely. Many classes were crippled and others became god-like beings at mid-level. Overall, I think 3.5 did a great job in keeping the complexity but also balancing out many rule issues. I must admit though, I was seriously pissed when they announced 3.5 was coming out only a few years after 3.0 was released.

DDO is a good alternative to WoW. It is a lot of fun when you first start out, but can be difficult to find groups. The game as you probably have noticed relies on team work rather than solo play in WoW. Fighter classes are easy to start out with, but I wouldn't worry too much on what you are, as long as you have someone around who can heal.

Many people complain when you have to pay monthly for a game. They think "hey guild wars is free monthy, why can't every other game be?" Well, the answer is that F2P games lack all of these points:

1. It has virtually no in game support.

2. They rarely add new content without selling an expantion pack. (Which means they game changes what, every 8 months?)

3. They don't take into account any player requests/issues.

4.The company has to limit it's staff due to lack of income.

Overall I'd prefer to pay knowing that the game will constantly change.

I think your suggestion for a "noise radar" type mechanism is genius. If DDO would add more options for detection it would be a great improvement. I thought ever since it first came out that they should have made darkness more of an issue also. As it stands being dwarven, elf, or any other race that might benefit from this innate ability, lose that key advantage they had to the other races. Being that I play a rogue, I think that sneaking is one of the more important aspects of the game . But it would also add suspense and a reason for cautiousness.

Hello everyone, as this is my first post at mmorpg.com I apologize if this topic has been discussed before.

I started playing DDO when it was first released in Feb, 06. I found the game interesting at first, but, eventually got tired of it due to lack of content. They have indeed expanded and improved much of the game, but what bothered me the most is almost being "required" to have 6 players in each group. Sometimes I would want to group with just my 3 friends. I did not mind it becoming more difficult to complete the quest with just 4 people, but rather was annoyed that the experience remained the same. Can anyone tell me if they have changed this at all??

My suggestion to turbine would be make changes to accomodate smaller grouping. This would help everyone because from what I've heard it doesn't have so many active players at the moment -- which could make finding groups much easier.
