The American price is $59.99, I think it evens out to the euro pretty well (46 Euros)--althought I believe companies like to round up to the nearest 10th--which is probably why they put it up at 49 euros. I think that is a little cheap of NCSoft and Arena Net, but if you look at the quality of game you are getting plus no monthly fee I think it's still a worthy purchase. I would have willingly spent 63 dollars to buy GW2 and not have to pay the monthly fee. I think it's a fair price, even if it's over what us in the USA are having to pay.

The only reason people are hating on this game
General Discussion « The Elder Scrolls Online 5/06/12 2:25:24 AM
Originally posted by Chrisbox You are wrong. Hero engine was only one of the many issues--the gameplay as far as I read is way off left center--just not Elder Scrolls. My qualms are rooted in the fact that this game is going to bastardize the series as a whole, no classical music score by Jeremy Soule, no classic Bethesda art direction, no freeform combat system (although I guess the revisions here are needed, TES has never been in RT; I.E. you can pause), and most of all Elder Scrolls has always been about one persons impact on the world around them--how do they plan to impliment your effects on the world? Yes--the graphics look awful, YES that was the initial reason I lost interest--but no that is no that is not the only reason I continue to accrue negative interest for this game. This game is not Elder Scrolls--it could as easily have been called Chronicles of Narnia Online and been just as different from that IP as this is from TES. There's nothing distinctly elder scrolls about this except for the fact that the game supposedly takes place in Tamriel. I just can't support a game that seems so utterly and awfully composed. This has been a game series that honestly has developed me as a person and an individual--the fact that the IP was handed so carelessly to someone who obviously is going to do the series such an injustice just seems . . . annoying. |

The Elder Scrolls: Knights of The Old Republic, or at least that's what the screenshots look like
General Discussion « The Elder Scrolls Online 5/03/12 9:52:17 PM
(I apologize in advance for the oh so unclever title, roll eyes if you must) http://imgur.com/a/fO9Ty#6 Really? No that is not Cyrodill, or Tamriel--or any other location in TES. Zenimax thought they could throw Elder Scrolls on there and make me toss money at my screen, nice try. I'll be throwing up something at my screen, but it will not be money--more like last nights dinner. Seriously? This game series has defined my childhood, why would Bethesda just hand over such a glorious EP to their "sister" company to ruin? I'm probably overreacting--I'm definitely overreacting, it's not like anyone is forcing me to play this game; they're not. But it's just the fact that it will exist in TES cannon forever, you can't eliminate something that Bethesda will accept as true and will most likely be carried into other games. I just pray that the graphics don't speak for the gameplay--I haven't had time to read the article yet; but I pray it's filled with more detail on gameplay and story; maybe there will be some redeeming quality in there that I missed from skimming it. Anyways folks. read it and weep--or cheer. That's just my two cents on the matter. |

I've played all the classes but thief and guardian, and I must say the classes I enjoyed most were probably Elementalist, Mesmer, and Engineer (only once you get to 10). Warrior seems like it could be really fun because of the high volume of weapon choices, I could definitely see myself playing that.

People who claim performance is bad, I have no idea what they're talking about--besides some server overload issues where I couldn't get in. Other than that it's been smooth sailing for me 40-60 FPS, 40 when there is a large crowd of folks. I'm playing with all the bells and whistles too, doing just dandy. The reason people are complaining is because they've mistaken GW2 limited beta as an open beta, went in expecting to see a fully polished game and instead got, as the mini-movies in the personal story state, "a work in progress". "But that's not what I wanted!" they will exclaim, well tough cookies kiddo is what I have to say to them. The FAQ section even states, "There will be a beta once a month", which you can almost derive from that there will be multiple months of beta testing. The game is months from release people, what did you expect? And no it is not coming out just because Gamestop said June 26th, they are not Arena Net--get out of my face with that rubbish! I am estimating a late July early August beta at best--October or November at worst. I personally have enjoyed my time in game, with only a few dull moments--and the complaints I've made on these forums about lack of chatter, well they're null and void after this evening. I was met with a surprising torrent of word exchange this evening, and I must say the community overall seemed very mature, I was satisfied. I came into the beta with realistic expectations, and all those expectations were met and then exceeded in certain regards. I will not be asking for a refund--I'm satisfied. :)

Iam at the point, where I would actually like a Healer profession
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/29/12 4:13:06 AM
This game is about coordination, rather than the trinity--GW2 has essentially created a new trinity which every person can switch between on the fly. It's the Control, DPS, Support Trinity as I've head it called on several occassions. This means instead of healing the support characters will pop AoEs that will give a team mate a buff that maybe speeds them up, or positioning themselves between a dying player and an enemy so that the player can get a chance to pop some heals (there are skills that help facilitate this kind of gameplay have you). I really like this new system personally, it's innovative--and sounds great on paper. I was able to actually pull some support play myself, and when it worked it felt truly awesome. I've been enjoying the direction of the game, although I must admit--am still a little behind the learning curve; but I'll get there.

BEST BETA EVENT EVER (Personally)
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions « Guild Wars 2 4/28/12 5:08:31 PM
TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS FUN! I disagree though, in all seriousness--the game is good when you can log in. And people who say they are having no issues haven't logged out--it's the truth. The game itself has been very quiet, which was nice at first--bothers me now. Rift beta was the best beta ever, so good in fact that I went and bought it afterwards--unfortunately the game fell short past the beta and lost my interest. It's probably going to be the reverse here I hope, beta fails to meet my expectations and the actual game is truly amazing and holds my attention for years to come. Here's for fingers crossed.

The skills bar is really killing it for me, the PvP zone raises you to 80 so you can be on even standing with other players--so I got a glimpse at what end game would be like. It's nice that you can quickly alternate between your slot skills, but I would much rather just have several bars with all of them already hotkeyed. I feel like I'm restricted by my weapon rather than liberated by it--the 5 skills are . . . well very unconventional in most classes, and like you said leads to a spammy kind of feel. And the lack of chatter made me drop the game this morning, yesterday I was into the game just because so many new things were thrown at my face, but today I found myself not enjoying myself (contradicting a post I put up earlier today). People say this is because it's the first beta and will get better with time, but I see no reason for it to--and I'm almost positive Local chat is not a zone chat, so that hinders the game even further. I pray that something is done about the lack of socializing. |

This is going to be short--very short. The combat is limited but fun, for the moment. The areas are surreal, the PvP is fine, WvWvW is fun--but where the hell is the chatter? I have yet to see a conversation held between anyone or have one with someone else myself. I don't really feel like I'm playing an MMO at all but just a single player game with other people running around--who might as well be NPCs. I really hope they get that fixed, a global or area chat would be more than nice. The game is good, but without interaction with people with feels pointless.

Guild Wars 2 is... (Poll Inside!)
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions « Guild Wars 2 4/28/12 12:49:46 PM
Personally, this has been a great mmo experience for me. But I've only played it one evening. The cities are truly phenomenal, like honestly--great. The quests are just quests to me, and the combat is definitely different--for better or for worse I couldn't tell you. I miss having a dedicated healer and tank, it made things a lot smoother in large scale scenarios. . . which to be honest have had some tragic outcomes in beta, but a lot of people aren't using their self heal ability I've noticed, so that could be part of it. I do like the fact that ANYONE can heal, it's just to make up for the lack of a dedicated healer you have to have about 2-3 people with med packs on running around dousing out healing items, which mean you have that much less DPS. It does even out with EVERYONE being DPS though, and all doing their own thing. The one thing I'm concerned about is where does the actual skill of knowing when to use abilities come in? With such a limited choice it seems almost like anything goes and it will even out to a numbers game--that's my number one concern. Either way I haven't really had a a tooth pulling moment yet, which is better than I can say for SWTOR and Rift (my last two mmos). First time in game in both of those I felt like I was pulling teeth 10 minutes in, even with the storyline in SWTOR. Not to say GW2 doesn't have boring moments, it does--but they're not painfully boring as of yet (again, only about 6 hours into the game). My perspective is coming from a guy who doesn't have a class above 10 so it could be wrong, but I'm still enjoying myself and find myself wanting to log in rather than study for finals next week--probably a bad thing. I would like to end on this though, the game has the best world space I think I've ever seen. Truly awestriking landscapes--I think that might be what is contributing to a lot of my enjoyment. Everywhere I look there is something to catch my eye, and the great music score by Jeremy Soule(Elder Scrolls, GW1) adds a lot to it as well. This game is far from release, which is hard to believe since they're letting people beta test--but it's true. GW1 went through several months of open betas before the game came out, and it came a long way in that time. Even if the game came out in it's current state I would say it was a purchase worthwhile, if not solely for the fact that there is no subscription. |

Maple Story? Or Crowded Lagfest Story? Maybe they should change the name.

It's called maple story because maple syrup is viscous and moves slow, like your internet. |

What was the first signal to you that this multi-multi-million dollar game was seriously flawed?

Well this post is just one large loaded question. The games not flawed OP, your ways of thinking are. |
