So yay hopefully they don't make the whole thing co-op.

Lots of DLC co-op missions added in later would be awesome addition to the series too.

Interesting to see how they are going to do the player character, one person is Shepard? Both are Shepard? Neither are Shepard?

Out of curiosity, why would you hope that they don't make the main campaign co-op? It is a choice afterall whether to play it as single player or with others. If its a case of you don't want the single player to suffer due to focus being on multi i can understand but your sentence was pretty vague fella.

Personally i just love how games like Borderlands have the same story but multiply in difficulty and fun the more people you play with. I enjoy single player games but have more fun when they can be done in co-op for the full game rather than just side stuff.

Im with badspock on this one,

not so much of a choice thing but for me personally if the quality and substance will be there would be the main concern.

as taxing as Mass effect franchise can be on the developers side,  adding a co-op feature is something that should be of no small matter, Esspecially this late in the developing cycle.

can only hope its a strong feature and not tacked on to say "here ya go, co-op mode, herp derp!"

Hehe yeah, it makes me think that it has a spherical model of some sort.  In that case, Dyson as a name makes sense although you could also go with a Globinator or Globatron or ooh how about a Baller lol.

"Pimp One, Pimp One, we need Baller support ASAP.  We're dying over here!"

"Copy that, we'll be ho's down in 1 mike, Pimp One out."

Explosions, lasers, whoosh.

Mutombo Squadron, death from above!

I Will Represent the VS by piloting a giant energy capturing sphere of intergalatic destruction

a Dyson??

anyone know what a "Dyson" is, because we Seriously need to know let alone ask the PS2 team why they choose the word Dyson for VS.

i checked for a definition and it didnt really clear things up.

and the urban dictionary definition is very..veerrry undesirable.

TR get a annoying insect that suck the blood of victims

NC get pillagers to rob others forcibly

VS...we get, a flying vacuum cleaner? ...that, according to urban dictionary, that functions as a sperm guzzler.

I will NOT represent the VS if they expect us to fight in the battle field with Friggin Flying Vacuum Cleaners that does very inappropriate things to the opposing faction.... F that noise

lol

you thought that was bad, you shouldve experienced beta 5 step moves plus trying to adjust the combat shields with melee on the fly against other players in pvp.

and then tack that on while playing the bear shaman or conq class around beta.

i dare say youd need a quad core processor for your hand to pull all that off.

but ya really, it is definitely understandable,  getting arthritis at the mid ages of 20 is not fun at all.

who would i choose?

SOE

why?

real answer:

1.overall experience

2. they try at least, to tamper wtih the boundries from time to time(the agency, free realms, planetside, forge light engine)  instead of opting out and using the same rank in file, bean counting, suit formula  (champions online, star trek online)

troll answer:

They are the masters of screwing up..call it overall experience, that being said, they at least know how to kill 900 people in a 3 car pile up and get away with it.

Will the NDA drop for SWTOR?

It will when Bioware gives up its Secrecy mantra.

I dont disagree, and im actually for this.  but i must raise a couple of concerns:

1. Technology:  even of the days of Planetside , and WWIIONLINE , technology let alone the internet had to fight tooth and nail when at come to latency/lag. not to mention the other tooth and nail battle when PC's are involved and how every rig is more or less different from the other compared to a streamline console with all using the same specs,  Yes  we have progressed greatly and VASTLY since the past several years. we even got browser games that would put certain console games to shame fun wise-- in rare cases visual wise too.  the Thing is, with all these advancements, and with SOE's forgelight looking to lead the way.  I raise concern that SOE and the dev team could very well be drunk from all the new tech they can use to make the game very beautiful (see the friggin screenshots)  and unfortunate have the frame rate and latency performance of a Amiga.  I greatly hope they find a even ground and keep to their word that Gameplay/ Performance will be priority over Graphics--and if need be by a large margin.

2. Marketing:  My god this has been more and more the element that either gives a game life or kills it off at birth, and i dont mean if their is a lack thereof  or too much of marketing. but the RIGHT kind of marketing where the PR team does their job by giving accurate, sensible information without pigeonholing or castrateting the dev team by saying these tired old words:

"THIS IS THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST OF THE DAY OF OMEGA TO END ALL WOW KILLERS!"

this mind you is a exaggeration, but for a more direct example being for the PR group to promise the moon to the point the dev team cannot humanly deliver, thus killing all that hard work, blood ,sweat and tears overnight. in reality, there will be some things the team can do, and the team cannot do. my only hope is to be informative enough to keep the community in the loop as far as whats being done with the game and what to expect.

3. Innovation:   This word perhaps needs to shrivel up in a corner and die a slow, slow slow death and be forgotten, and THEN have a dog come in and take a large turd over its corpse to complete its existance; might i add potential would come as a close second imo.

Innovation is something were all looking for, on the dev teams behalf, again, i hope they use reasonable judgement and not be obsessed with the word, let alone speak of it. same goes with the PR team...and @#$#ing Smedelonius!! (smedly)

the consumers will be clamoring for it, but to be honest, Planetside, and of course Planetside 2, already has much of that right in front of them when it comes to simply being different:

1. mmofps with large scale battles,   there are other games that tout it but are few far and inbetween, not to mention lacking a large company to back them both financially and commerically (HI MARSWAR!! tell your little punk brother HUXLEY i said hello)

2. noobs having the potential to kill leveled out players.  this aspect was another gem in planetsides pocket. a fresh noob with nothing more than a supressor can be just as deadline as a jackhammering NC hobo depending on the enviornments and situation.

3. changing between classes/professions on the fly and even mid combat: first PS had this,  PS2 will have it too despite it being more steamlined (speculating)

4. persistant mayhem: call it a weak arguement, but when your playing a deathmatch game or a themepark game for x amount of times or years..a nice big continent with explosions as far as the eye can see on any other day is a welcomed changed.

And im going so far off topic its shameful, my bad.

IF anything, people are still underestimating the FPS playerbase believe it or not,  and those people are the typical traditional tab-targeting mmo players. there is always some hate about PS2 going free to play, and yes that is dangerous but it can be done right without the element of pay to win (bigger gun, more bullets etc.).

FPS community will come, but for them to come, they have to follow a new set a rules, and a dice roll with +5 purple armor aint gonna cut it.

An RP & PVP server combined??

That could turn ugly fast.. I see both groups as completely different play styles and those that kind of clash with eachother.

"I r cast force push cuz me jedi" vs "1,2,3, PZWNZED NOOB!", "The force is strong in you" vs "Yeah, the force of me ramming your mother!1!11!".

I don't see much of anyone getting along there lol.

If you want to see the complete evidence and outcome of how RP-PVP will play out, esspecially between both the community and the company themselves. take a look at Age of Conan.

you know threads like this make me want to play GW2 even less.

It has nothing to do with game liking. It's things like this saying ha my game is better then yours because this guy likes it more. I got a video for you guys.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvrQDqDgf4U

This thread could be more useful if you left out the disses SWTOR. It just seem like trying to justify your game over something else. Why bring swtor in it at all? why not just say oh look this person love GW2? it just seems like your trying to tick off the other crowd. I would say my opinion but i think the video attached does better.

Now my biggest problem so far with this game is the community. can't go anywhere without hearing about how great this game is, how next gen it will be, how much better it will be then this other game. glad  you basically droveoff a potetional person. congrats, sure A-net will thank you for it

Just tired of it all, I guess i'm doing what i shouldn't do and posting when i'm annoyed but let it rest please, enjoy your game and stop trying to bash others. Total biscuit says it best though.

Thanks for the ride but i'm off the A-net train, won't be buying this game now if this is the community there is. Too full of yourself some of you.

+1

calling it.

AOC vs. WAR  round 2 incoming.

but really, its better to ignore the barn fire shennigans, it does nobody good except those who are depending on xfire numbers to claim victory over the other game.

Total biscuit indeed said it best and we saw how much internet angst he got for not leaning on either side.

thats how it works, so GET OFF THE D**N TRAIN man!

the RP is only as good as the community...good luck with that.

Nobody said it would be a GOOD RP server, they are just going to add (Role-playing) after the servers name.

ya, pretty much

this just screams a postage note slapped on the top of the server titled rp-pvp.

demi god divas coming in drove with their kool aid drinking cults displaying their epic prowess on how many lines they can type to express how mighty their character is.

let me close my lip with a soldering iron and let this pass.

To me, Huttball is the one area where Bioware has really pushed the genre forward. They thought outside the box on this one. It gives me hope that future pvp scenarios will be unique and unlike anything we've seen. If you've played wow, war, aoc, or any number of other games this will be a fresh take on pvp.

lol :)

Huttball as it is now is nothing more then a ground floor,  everyone watching it at first glance will say, "meh, CTF with annoying voices."

add in a spectator mode with option for premades,  the community "could" take off and go so far as making a league with teams to partcipate in.

all speculating of course.

You know what's hilarious Empyros?

How someone's impression which happens to mirror your own is something you regard as empirical evidence of you being right, while another guy's impression which doesn't match your opinion of the game (but who actually had much more hands-on time with Swtor) is dismissed because of yet another reviewer's opinion of another game. An opinion which you even grossly misquoted:

"This is the same magazine that heralded Dragon Age 2 as the RPG of the Decade.

Yeah, forgive me for ordering 1000 tonnes of salt. "

To which I replied with the original quote from that review:

"The best RPG of this decade? Nine more years will tell, but for now, yes."

Anyway, excuse me for not valuing your opinion so much as you seem to take a hike with the truth and are just as good at cherry picking as the most rabid fanboy.

*wakes up for work*

*checks internet, see's thread and looks at it*

*laughs*

*leaves for work*

+1  DarkPony   for pointing out the  DA2 "RPG of the decade" review

Some things i dont agree with, others i can live with, heres another Q and A but with the transcript taken from PSU which was taken from the twitter recap (twitter chat but abit more organized version):

Q: How will resources really work? How useful will they be? Who will actually "earn" them - each player, or the faction too?

A: resources will help you do everything from unlocking items, addons, or even accelerate cert learning-they're integral -Source

Q: will we be getting more faction only weapons on top of the classics?

A: Yes, a lot of new faction specific infantry weapons, lots of "variants" of those weapons too for more variety. -Source

Q: Merits/Achievements? I loved them in the original, and I think the most I've seen so far is a maybe. Any additional thought?

A: we've got a system like the merits system that will be extremely robust. -Source

Q: Will there be medical Terminals... If so, will there be a voice macro to destroy them

A: no plans for medical terminals right now. -Source

Q: Are there any restrictions spawning in a galaxy? Does it need to be hovering? Flying slow?

A: No plans for restrictions right now, but that might change when we balance test more extensively (like everything!) -Source

Q: Will bases be strictly in one grid-hex, or may one base be spread out over multiple hexes as well?

A: Bases will definitely span multiple hexes. The grid will be pretty granular. Right now a facility is roughly 7 hexes -Source

Q: Will there be a form of long range artillery, good sir Higby?

A: We're trying to emphasize more direct warfare, so indirect artillery isn't on the top of our priority list ATM -Source

Q: will there still be stamina? or will there be like a sprint ability?

A: Theres no stamina, sprinting is available on all infantry, but, it's faster or slower depending on role/class -Source

Q: How much did the lore change? Are all the vehicles still assembled by nanites?

A: we're definitely changing lore - those of you interested in story are going to be STOKED at what we're doing. -Source

Q: Hoping the PS2 outfit UI will better allow me to create outfit events like tank groups, with calender/msg system to O-members.

A: Our plan is to allow you to use the mission system to do this type of coordination for your outfit. -Source

Q: will facilities still have an SOI?

A: Yep, it's pretty much the region that the facility is in. -Source

Q: Since there is no longer a sanctuary, what happens upon logging into the game?

A: you're presented with a world map showing available missions and transition to partake in any of them immediately -Source

Q: Any Plans for Empire Specific HUDs in the game? Easy way to show the uniqueness of every empire.

A: Ya know, we talked about this a bit -we want to get one HUD perfect then we'll see. Vehicle HUDs are unique. -Source

Q: with no stamina how do you plan to account for bunny hoppers?

A: ridicule them incessantly for not knowing how to play? It won't give you much of an advantage in PS2. -Source

Q: Will outfits be able to customize parts of their armour to make them stand out as an outfit on the battlefield?

A: Absolutely. the plan is to allow leader / designee to create a 'uniform' and then you, as a member easily select it. -Source

Q: so ADAD spamming is still gonna be common place as well? Cuz annoying!

A: I sure hope not. Our updated netcode should really mitigate that little "feature", haha -Source

Q: Hows it looking for Vehicle enter and exit animations? Any updates? Yes/No/After Release?

A: Animations are a no, sorry, i know some of you guys love em. There will very likely be vehicle "start up sequences" -Source

Q: Will the GUI be customizable a la WoW?

A: Not currently. We do want to give players UI customization options and mods at some point. Stay tuned on that. -Source

Q: Will the sun's glare effect pilots or other aspects of the game?

A: not through some set mechanic although it's possible that the bloom would occlude under some circumstances. -Source

Q: Will there be different voices for voice macros?

A: Yep, although the exact number I'm not sure on right now. There will be some variants per empire too. -Source

Q: since the galaxy also acts as a ams now will it have some sort of deployed version or will it just rain troops from the air?

A: Galaxy deploying and making a ground "fortress" is something we've discussed a lot. Not 100% sure it will make it in -Source

Q: Will there be a area to see all your stats possible on your character? (on the web or mobile)

A: Yes, web and in game. We'll be externalizing a LOT of game data for people to play with, make apps with, etc. -Source

Q: Is the Phantasm going in? Or any sort of stealth vehicles. Volumetric clouds are awesome but is there stealth too?

A: No stealth vehicles currently slated for LAUNCH. -Source

Q: Is it still one continent at launch? What happens if there's a peak of online users, and that single continent becomes full?

A: We'll be shipping with more than one continent. -Source

Q: training speed offline vs online? 2-to-1?

A: less than that. Online training speed is based on activity, currently you can build up to a 50% boost. -Source

Q: do bases still have generators?

A: Yes, but not the same kind as PlanetSide The First. -Source

Q: How many players will a continent support? Is it really 2000?

A: Thousands is the goal, man. Obviously we're still working really hard to make that happen. Lots of optimization. -Source

Q: Is Commander or Squad leader going to be a role as such? Or are you command certs going to carry over if you play a medic?

A: You can be a squad leader as any class, you get some awesome passive perks and coordination tools. -Source

Q: Awesomesauce. :) Also, when you mentioned "biospheres", you meant different environment types on a single continent?

A: Yep, exactly. We want the continents to be varied. So you might have conifer forest, Glacier, and alpine peaks. -Source

Q: Will there ever be MAC support?

A: Not on the schedule right now that I know of. I hope so eventually, though! -Source

Q: will we see base type benefits a la PS1?

A: currently facilities don't carry the same sort of benefits as on PS1. This is something that might change. -Source

Q: The AMS may have been slow, but it served a vital purpose. Will there be a ground-based cloakable spawn point of some sort?

A: infiltrators in your squad when you have a squadleader with squad spawning spec'd. <trollface> -Source

Q: going f2p is a great idea but isn't it opening up to to aimbotters to over run the game get ban make a new account

A: We're taking hacks VERY seriously in PS2 yes F2P makes it difficult to police, but we're already working on solutions -Source

Q: Is there going to be a pilot class? In ps1 you needed agile, in ps2 is the class that boosts vehicles?

A: There isn't a "pilot class" for vehicles. Any non-heavy infantry class can pilot / gun in a vehicle. -Source

Q: Will you share a list of voice macros with us, before you start recording? We might need some weird, non-obvious stuff. ;)

A: No, but start a thread on it in the psu ps2 ideas forum and if I see new ones I'll get them added to the list. Cool? -Source

Q: I see you take a lot of influence from EVE Online, will there be killboards that can list all of the kills of a player or outfit?

A: Yes, absolutely. We're planning on having extensive leaderboards in game and web, you'll be able to see lots of cool stuff -Source

Q: I also see and am glad that Battlefield 2 BC influenced your team a lot, will there be pins and medals like BF:BC2?

A: we have similar achievement system, but not identical. -Source

Q: The six classes are MAX, Heavy Infantry, Medic, Engy, Cloaker, Jetpack. Confirm/Deny?

A: pretty close. -Source

@ps_tray (Tramell Isaac) answers:

Q: MAXes (at & maxes ironic I know!) Will MAX armors be given any kind of melee attack & will jump jets still exist or be modded?

A: max suits do indeed have a melee attack -Source

Q: Will visual / UI accommodations be made for players with color-deficiency or motion-sickness to make the game more playable?

A: I do believe that the UI will be customizable. -Source

Q: WIll there be voice chat groups like PS1 had for for text or will it be for squads only?

A: yes, voice chat is built in -Source

Q: Which game engine is PS2 using?

A: Planetside 2 is using our own FORGELIGHT tm engine -Source

Q: Will bases still have semi-automated defence systems?

A: automatic and manned defenses for all bases -Source

Q: Does the game have Duel Monitor Support..Example Supreme commander. So I can command more efficiently while playing

A: not at this moment but that is something that we can add -Source

Q: Will the empire themes for TR (more guns) NC (hit hard) and VS (versatility) still be continued in PS2?

A: yes, the basic faction truths are still intact -Source

Q: cosmetic armor customization? Or would that hurt performance?

A: Not at all the game is being built to support them customization is not an after thought -Source

Q: Can I still suicide my Gal into groups of players?

A: if that is the way you want to play lol -Source

Q: will the TR prowler be a little leener in #planetside2 or is it still a fatty? :P

A: the prowler is a force to be reckoned with and it looks the way it should -Source

Q: Based on the latest screens, will default uniforms use different color (camouflage) schemes, based on the continent?

A: the latest screens show characters without tints. tints can be patterns or solids chosen by the player -Source

Q: What's the big awesome ship in the sky of the concept art? Will that be in for launch?

A: undecided -Source

Q: Can infiltrators be medics at the same time?

A: stealth and medic are two different classes -Source

Q: What's the most awesome place on a Magrider to put a decal, and what would that decal be?

A: decal positions will be up to the player -Source

Q: what weapons will be returning from PS1?

A: we are working to bring pretty much all of them back in some form or fashion -Source

Q: What's the current take on friendly fire? Off? Reduced friendly damage? FF on, but no AoE spam weapons?

A: i believe the current stance is FF on -Source

Q: With Core Combat not being the best, are you planning on keeping BFRs?

A: I personally hope they come back, I think we can make them awesome the second go round -Source

Q: Hoping Planetside 2 feels like PS1, a lost brother of the Tribes games, and not a modern war shooter.

A: we will make sure that it feels like planetside -Source

Q: How much did the lore change? Are all the vehicles still assembled by nanites?

A: nanites rule the world. the lore in that area is pretty much the same -Source

Q: Will there be different hair styles for our characters? Can we have "The Higby"?

A: how many different hair styles do you see in the army? -Source

Q: Will outfits be able to customize parts of their armour to make them stand out as an outfit on the battlefield?

A: we will offer a number of ways for outfit and players to customize themselves thru progression and or purchase -Source

Q: Are we able to reserve outfit/nick names?

A: thats a pretty good idea, running it up the flag pole -Source

Q: Hows it looking for Vehicle enter and exit animations? Any updates? Yes/No/After Release?

A: as of right now, they are not in the game -Source

Q: Since it'll be easier to kill in PS2, how easy will it be to take down a vehicle compared to PS1?

A: beta testing will provide us with the right level of balance. hard to say right now -Source

@soe_hack (Josh Hackney) answers:

Q: How will Hvy-Aslt function? Slow moving and heavy suppression, or will it be more like PS1 where it was for fast close-quarter?

A: we're really looking at the balance on all classes against each other -Source

Q: Which game engine is PS2 using?

A: our internal Forgelight Engine -Source

Q: Will there be opportunities for PS veterans with limited (less than 3 years) industry experience to join the PS2 dev team?

A: we're always looking for good folks and review every resume that comes in -Source

Q: Will bases still have semi-automated defence systems?

A: at some level definitely, how far we take it is really based on gameplay and balance -Source

Q: Will the empire themes for TR (more guns) NC (hit hard) and VS (versatility) still be continued in PS2?

A: there are definitely themes to them -Source

Q: cosmetic armor customization? Or would that hurt performance?

A: there will definitely be armor customization -Source

Q: Around what month are you looking to shoot for Closed/Open Betas?

A: not announced yet :) -Source

Q: Any idea on weapon draw-hoslter/reload times (in general, such as PS1 had very slow draw times)? Or is it still being iterated?

A: we're going to be iterating on the feel through beta, but close to what you'd expect in games today -Source

Q: How will sniping work in PS2? Is there a bullet delay, and what are the shots for a kill like? Headshots = kill?

Q: Will Planetside 2 be playable on Windows XP?

A: yep -Source

Q: Can infiltrators be medics at the same time?

A: not necessarily, but we are looking at ways you can support your squad -Source

Q: Will PlanetSide 2 be available on Steam? The exposure on Steam's front page would definitely boost PS2's exposure

A: we haven't announced any specifics yet about steam or otherwise -Source

Q: Any word on a quick knife vs equipped knife?

A: you will be able to stab people... -Source

Q: So, a Magrider driver is also its gunner? Can i still let a mate take the main gun and i just drive?

A: magriders still have passenger gunners -Source

Q: Towers look a lot larger. Will taking facilities boil still down to hacking one console, or will there be more objectives?

A: there are multiple objectives in taking a facility -Source

Q: How will resources really work? How useful will they be? Who will actually "earn" them - each player, or the faction too?

A: Resources will be acquirable by individuals -Source

-My take on some of the things i like:

-all or most ps 1 weapons returning

-emphasis on having strengths and weaknesses on classes (i.e. heavy assault wont be end all be all for indoor infantry combat)

-Galaxies as AMSes,   it can work if there are requirements to go with it and limitations,  give galaxy pilots a stronger incentive of staying in their ships, or be taxi's rather

-idea of outfits having access to have outfit armor design customization or different uniforms (if they take the friggin name tag hovering crap off, can make a viable

What i dont like:

-with classes, the large possibility of mixing to professions together (combat engineer +medic,    Cloaker + medic)

-the loss of free inventory, hence the concern from the first dislike statement above

Cloakers are not that abudent due to so many things being able to pick them up and the amount of everything including the change of wind ends up killing them if they dont look over their surroundings.

what kills a cloaker:

sudden and careless movement while in 180 view of enemy

darklight whores

high concentration of battle

travelling near roads

motion sensors

audio amp whores

gamma whores (raising the gamma on their computer to catch any cloakers even attemping to sneeze)

lack of sensor shield while doing stealth

other cloakers

other cloakers WITH darklight

motion turrents

Mosquito pilots (due to aircraft having built in radar)

amp station bases (if lacking sensor shield)

the moment they are found, it usually takes one good gernade and a couple bullets to kill them,  a mere few bullets if using a heavy assault weapon.

early in the game while there were more cloakers, i would ride with some one in a bang bus, and count the number of times we hit a speed bump = run over a cloaker.

My favorite parts of Planetside were the unconventionals. I loved my cloaker, I loved what he could do and I know non of that is conventional warfare. I thought Planetside mixed them both well but I thought it was definately leaning morew towards the unconventional side as a game.

A cloaker is still based on WW2, they represented recon units.  Small recon units are light on firepower and good on concealment, just like WW2, just like Planetside.

Since there is almost no cover and concealment in Planetside you had cloaking abilities.

Starwars:  Based on WW2.  Much of anything that is interesting and militaristic is based on WW2, everything else is wierd.

The only FPS game in existance that has realistic cover and concealment:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6R66kXaVcA

i believe part of the of the issue of the lack of concealment in planetside is players ability to toggle between camera modes from first to third, and  the games radar having a mind of its own (you may be cloaked and have sensor shield, but i still see youuuuuuuu).

name tags being another strike.

basically a overview of what they plan to aim for

then there was also the chat discussion on twitter with some questions answered there: http://twitter.com/#!/planetside2

there have been a number of other updates placed on the Ps forums themselves: http://forums.station.sony.com/ps/posts/list.m?topic_id=88000027890

couple things that did pop out from the meet and greets was one new document i am unable to find but it is mentioned in the twitter q and a at least.

====

-Galaxies are confirmed to be the new "AMS" spawn vehicles.

-Galaxies can hold 10 soldiers (suspecting 8 soldiers 2 maxes)

-Troops can spawn in galaxies while galaxy is still in mid air

-empire specific aircraft desired

-empire specific heavy weapons desired (or confirmed)

- customization can go so far as grabbing a tank and customize it as  more armor, slower speed, or very little armor via glass cannon, etc. etc.  to all vehicles and their customizations

-BR 1 characters can access all class types

-Engineering tree to have a possible skill tree for "Explosive Expert"

-spitfire turrents may be replaced with turrents that are manned,  can get experience from players that man and kill people with your turrent

there maybe more updates in around 2 weeks.

hope that helps

Too much vertical envelopement and combat becomes unconventional to the point of weird.

"Unconventional is fine" someone will say.  No it's not.  Conventional WW2 tactics is the only way to go, would you buy a game based on modern day terrorism?  Laying roadside bombs on one side and driving trucks on the other.  Oooh exciting.

I was just blown up randomly.  Ooooh exciting.

You don't even want to go backwards in time from WW2.  Would you want to buy a game that took 30 seconds to reload a musket?  no, and hell no.  It would be boring as hell.

Somewhere between WW1 and Vietnam,  and even Vietnam is a stretch; that's all you got for FPS games.

your concerns in relation to planetside ip is subjective,

Their have been several roles both in and outside of battle that people not only filled and were proficient at it, but enjoyed.

Conventional WW2 tactics, however broad that subject might be, can perhaps be the be all and end all when in comes to fundamental warfare, but it is not a crime to add upon it.

Planetside 1 is based on wierd and random shennigans ,  really, cloaked unit is hacking a unmanned turrent 80 meters away to kill off a unsuspecting trooper who is trying to laze point a flail that is vehicle camping the enemies resources 3 bases away.

I disagree.

Unconventional is fine because some one could participate in elements and situations that you wont get in current WW2 games.

As for Galaxies being the new spawn points, i dunno

would kinda seem gals will be a multi role type vehicle harnessing all forms of transportation for infantry.

when they land they can easily set themselves up as an AMS im sure, on top of that if gals keep their guns while in that spawning mode state that'll further their appeal.

i suppose in speculation, with their emphasis on customization, we could see gals with the ams role, but with guns and other knick knacks to supply troops, transport them and go from one location to the next as a much faster pace compared to amses.

as for gals in general and in further speculation, wouldnt be suprised if they also replace loadstars, having gals to be able to carry all forms of ground vehicles, or maybe more than one vehicle perhaps 2..or 3 in the back?

we'll definitely see in the coming days esspecially around sept 15 of what more info they will share with us
