Who will be playing this none MMO game?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/25/07 6:01:35 PM
The Diablo developers no longer work for blizzard north, so no I doubt I'd play D3. Based off of my experience in WC3 & WoW I doubt I'll purchase another game by Blizzard.
Mythos looks enjoyable, hopefully it's fun to play. |

E-Xtortion, what a time to be alive! Seriously though, they were too soft to rob a bank or a drug dealer or something, halfway thugs. I wonder what kinda time they'll get for that nonsense. |

This belongs in WoW discussion methinks. In, my opinion wow is considered pve centric because: 1. The classes are balanced around pve first & foremost. 2. Nearly all of the updates are focused on pve & the updates to pvp have been lackluster at best. 3. There comes a time for pvp players when they are simply repeating the same fights with little or no variation, nor incentive to keep going. The same can be said for pve of course few can stake that claim, as the pve content greatly outweighs the pvp content. Those are the biggest reasons to me, I don't play anymore though so I won't bother to go into further detail.

Thanks for the link, nice looking video. Truly makes me want to play. And for the record, the argument on youtube in the comments for this video are hilarious. E-Drama is great.

I hope it lands on anyone who still plays WoW, in fact I'd pay 15$ to see that. |

What genre do you want the next big MMO to be?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/15/07 2:44:05 PM
I'd like to see something like dynasty warriors, with wars raging all around, huge armies & Samurai that can level whole battalions. Cross that with the progression of the MMO genre (ie. levels & equipment) throw in some sandbox aspects (player controlled empires facing invaders, or doing the invading). If done right I feel this could be an incredible game. |

Grand Theft Auto, with gangs instead of guilds & a huge world. Choose a side of the law, clip up then prepare for some mayhem. Night of the living dead, where dying matters (ie. you turn into a zombie). That way there'd be two planes of progression, undead hunter or living hunter. Alien Vs. Predator could be good, maybe. The Lego one I read about sounds promising. |

I'll buy this game because of Paul Barnett's enthusiasm!

For someone who isn't supporting this game, you sure make me wanna play it.
"Oh and HOW it was punished to loot enemies or kill on sight in medieval times. The only one who had the right to claim loot was your leader and lord... What you dream about is much more a mercenary cyberpunk mad max scenario with some distorted idea of "survival of the fittest"." So you want a game with lords then second class citizens? No thanks. What's so bad about Mad Max? Isn't the whole idea of War survival of the fittest? |

Why is Fun so wrong? world of warcraft.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/19/07 1:17:41 PM
Having leveled four characters to max (well three to 60 one to 70, 60 was max then) I can testify to the terribly biased content, that is to say if you play casually or solo well then you don't get "the cake". So as a hardcore/soloer like myself I get to be forced into a group that makes me question playing at all, or be bored pvping or grinding, same result. Where's the "Fun"?
I gave the game a shot, twice, either it simply isn't for me or there's some truth to the criticism the game receives. Personally I feel the latter is true as I still feel a strong urge to play, yet have no incentive to & my confidence in Blizzard fixing anything is none. I do find the game fun at a base level but that fun is removed due to many factors such as imblanced pvp, dead end pve for anyone who isn't a raider with people they like to play alongside & finally a static world where having any real or lasting effect is non-existent. |

My favorite aspect of this game so far is how I haven't seen one real criticism of it, anyone who comes & talks trash proves they don't know what they're saying by spouting some bullshit.
P.S. LOL @ "EDIT: AND, you cannot play a rogue. That would have been at least one way to evade mindless idiots who just attack everything on sight." The opposite is also true, in a much more meaningful way, you sir sound like an angry rogue player. |

I too recently cancelled, believe it or not for the second time! Blizzard just isn't aiming to please a player like myself.

I agree, he hypes the game up in a great way.
Anyone who doesn't agree can cry, like a girl! |

Personally I play MMO's predominantly for the pvp, although I see pve as an avenue which leads to the former (pvp). As has been said by earlier replies, pve which leads to more pve is ultimately killing time in a less than stimulating way, of course add the lure of eventual combat with players like yourself & you have yourself a reason to progress & a goal to reach (ie. getting Uber). Remove either of these elements & what's left simply creates a void in my opinion.
Too often I hear if you like pvp go play an FPS, that's only half the game in my opinion, same goes for an RPG with only pve. Grinding to no end is nearly as pointless as killing to no end, or is it the other way, wait what's the difference? |
