Whatever the case is, SWTOR is pretty bad.

I meant to vote yes but voted no.

The Hero Engine doesn't belong in an MMO like SWTOR with such a high budget.

It lasted me one week longer than Final Fantasy XIV. That's not saying much.

I think in 3 months time it will be considered the greatest MMO disappointment of all-time when you consider the budget, hype, and all other elements.

Ahhh yes, how refreshing to grind some more badges and ride your mount in circles in Org.

Honest question: what do you do in SWTOR at maximum level? If you think it'll be any better than WoW you are SORELY mistaken.

I'm going to gladly pay for it. It's an incredibly good MMO.

Danny walked in expecting the game to be the messiah. I think his comments are way off balance.

As someone who has well over 50 hours in the game, I can say the OP stated lots of misinformation. Really, really bad review imo.

After reading over 50 of them I get the sense that many of them are from MMO players in other games who want SWTOR to fail. It's a lot of rehashed whining that has no detail, or modern relevance.

I'd give the game a 9/10, which is high for me!

People who just like to blow stuff up (i.e. COD fans) aren't liking the game because most of what it does great is story-related. I think this game is a masterpiece, and something that'll keep me from every going back to WoW.

I don't share your sentiments, guys.

I can't name another MMO that has lots of cool armor when it first came out. With that said, I have seen lots of VERY impresive looking characters while in the Imperial Fleet. I think Consulars look lame, but other than that I am very happy with what we have. My only other complaint is that Juggernauts look like robots. I would prefer to have a more Darth Vader cloak and armor design.

Those photos are incredibly low-resolution and look washed out. I think you guys are overreacting.

Can I pick a third item?

How about more content instead of hours upon hours and millions of dollars on voice overs?

This game won't kill WoW. I CANNOT in my right mind see TOR offering a better endgame than WoW. Sure, leveling in TOR will be fun, but endgame is incredibly important.

You're full of it.

Do you realize how huge of an operation that would be? The game is already MASSIVE. The world isn't changing.

As a matter of fact, this is the thing that has me 100% believe I will never play the game again. The world is horrible, absolutely horrible, and worse than I've seen in any other MMORPG.

I still pity myself for purchasing the Collector's Edition. This game is in ruin.

I've been contemplating buying the new ultimate collection and just starting over completely from scratch.  A few things are holding me back though.

1.  Server choice - so hard to decide which server to roll my character on

2.  I've done all the beginning part of the game a million times already on my old account, not really looking forward to doing it again, UNLESS I can blow past it really fast with a nice static LS to help or to do it with.

3.  Having to get used to the controls and macro system, AGAIN, and having to wait for the 2nd of the month so I don't get billed twice or ripped off of time due to their odd, antiquated billing system.

3.  I just need a good group of people to play with, but every time I join an LS of late, everyone is off doing their own thing or not logging on.  Had the same issue with playing Vanguard.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll grab the collection anyway, at some point, as I get nostalgic memories of FFXI from time to time drawing me back.  Plus, it's going to be awhile before SWTOR hits and I'll need something to fill the MMO gap soon for the late summer months if Rift doesn't keep me occupied.

1. Pick Pheonix or Asura. Both have a steady 2400+ on at all times, and are very active.

2. The beginning is pretty fast, but the worst thing is travel. Traveling in the game is already incredibly slow which is multiplied by not having a chocobo or outpost warps. But seriously, soloing from 1-18 takes about 5-7 hours... it's even faster than WoW.

3. Use a controller. The controls in the game are OK with a controller, and don't take long to get used to. As far as the billing goes, it's absolutely horrible. I cancelled my content ID yesterday to ensure I don't get billed at the end of my trial and it completely cancelled my play period. Horrible design.

4. Join Reformation on Phoenix. I've never been in a more actively involved group in my entire life of MMOs. It was prety incredible actually.

I hope this helps. I'm back to WoW (again FFS) just because FFXI has so few abilities and the fact that me canceling the content ID deleted my free trial. The game has awesome music, awesome classes, and a community that makes WoW's look like a piece of trash, but its age is really starting to show.

GOOD LUCK!

Many people just came back, and there are many servers with dense population. Odin, Asura, and Phoenix are as active as ever.

FFXIV is still a mess, don't bother until at least 2012.

I just went back to FFXI for my first time since 2005, and I must say: it's amazing. I've been playing WoW and other more "modern" MMOs since I last played FFXI, and it's just completely different. The atmosphere, story, class system, and party mechanics are wonderful. WoW might be more enjoyable, especially from the get-go, but FFXI offers things that WoW simply doesn't.

I'm loving the community, classes, party mechanics, music, and more. Play with a controller and the gameplay isn't so bad either. I highly recommend it if you want to experience something different.

Please note that it's one of the harder MMOs to get into, so the first 18~ levels will feel "meh", but as you go on the sense of addiction grows. A lot of this is due to easier travel, and even the availability of a subjob which gives you more abilities and options.

The UI and gameplay is fine if you play with a controller to be honest. I just came back after not playing since 2005 and the UI is far from being a real problem.

I applied. It's great to be back playin this game. It offers a very unique game experience, one that isn't perfect, but the most immersive in the MMO market as far as I'm concerned.

FFXI or Rift?

I used to play Final Fantasy XI back in 2005, and enjoyed it a lot, but eventually moved to WoW (like many did). Now I hear they've made content completely accessible, and that makes me want to return.

Rift just came out, and has gotten moderate praise, but I'm not sure if it'll just make me wish I was playing WoW.

This essentially comes down to is FFXI too old, or is Rift just not really a long-term solution? Which would you recommend to someone sick of WoW?

Agreed. I have a Necromancer/Warlock and the animations are pretty darn good actually. However, melee, reactive movements, and several of the mounts just look awkward!
