Agreed with Cleffy here. The biggest use for a chrome OS will be netbooks, and business, at least in todays day and age. However, google is looking to the future, as usual.

Right now, netbooks, and things like internet cafes, those internet stations, or anything of that nature will benefit huge from these things. Having an account for ChromeOS, that, let's say, can lock to your other google accounts, and you can login to any computer, anywhere, running ChromeOS, and access what you were doing, your stuff, whatever. Amazing idea.

However cloud is still a newer concept to the consumer world. People are still getting accustomed to such things, and as developers we are also still learning, changing, adapting, etc.

Within the next decade however, I think ChromeOS is situated to be a great launchpad into the future of the internet. Through google, and many other web API developers, we are slowly moving everything we do onto the internet, and as the decade passes, I don't think we will have a need for PCs as we see now. Not even for gaming. (See: OnLive)

Just my thoughts :)

You could always pre-order (make sure you pre-order a box, and not the digital download, because they don't take those back) and just cancel if you don't end up liking the game. Sometimes you can cancel without cost, sometimes it costs you $5.

As a note it is becoming more common in this industry to require pre-orders done online (digital or otherwise) to be for the full price and be non-refundable. So be sure you take the time to read any pre-order stuff if you do it through a website, retailer or otherwise.
I say this because no one is going to feel sorry for you later when you can't get a refund.
I pre-ordered GA through steam myself and if something happens it's not like I'm going to be hurting from it. It's entertainment, having it postponed doesn't bother me. The majority of reviews I've seen for this game have been positive and at this point it's not like it won't release. I don't even see it getting pushed back so it's not like I've risked my money.
As far as buying a bad game - abusing pre-order systems to avoid this is unethical because it costs both the retailer and the company money. As a consumer it is more than understandable because the market (not just mmo's) has been flooded with bad games lately. Everybody gets taken in by  hype and buys a bad game every now and then, but abusing pre-orders is still unethical. Just do what a good consumer should do and do your research. If I go to buy a new phone I do my research and that takes quite a bit more doing. For video games I can just google it and easily find a crap load of reviews and gameplay footage not put out by the company.

charging people to "beta test" is unethical , though I do not blame companies for doing it
yes, everything has been bad lately, at least for most people, so its been more then just a "taken in by hype and buys a bad game every now and then" type of situation
you using a phone as an example isn't really working, unless your ordering a smartphone that is unlocked and not available from a carrier, then you can goto the store and test a fully functional phone to see if you like it, try before you buy... catch that?
as far as reviews and videos for games these days: what reviewer is honest and not being payed, or better yet not a fanboy, same goes for customer reviews.. who is a hater and who is a fanboy?
this is why people don't wanna pay $44 or w/e it is right now for a un-massive virtual lobby mmo shooting game that has a sub fee (which i think is where people are really turned off by it)

The sub fee is completely optional. All you lose is the ability to take over land. Kind of like Hellgate: London did it.

Still, I see where your 50 dollars to buy a game you don't know much about theory comes from.

However, most PC games come out at around 50 dollars anyways. If you like Tribes, or any jetpack based shooter, and want one, this is a good choice. Then later, if you want the more advanced features, you can buy into those.

I don't really see the negative there. You're buying a shooter for regular price, with the option to expand on it later. Sounds good to me. No?

I do agree with you.. what was understandable anyways. This game has definitely degraded a lot over time.

However, if you try to form more intelligible sentences next time we may be able to continue this conversation further. Right now all I see is a lot of bad writing, no grammar, and caps lock all over the place.

Anyways, agreed. They need to do something about it.

At first glance at the title, the type of lair I heard when I read it... It sounds like an amazingly cute lair. I want to go!

Sure, here, pet the Kitin

Feb 1st has been the release date for a while now.

HOWEVER, the pre-order is new!

Can't wait to get to play. The game looks amazing.

I've not realized why they called it alganon but knowing them it's some sort of secret code. And by secret code i mean something so obvious it'd make sense immediately after realizing it.

The reason Alganon is named "Alganon" is probably the same reason why Allod is named "Allod" or Aion is name "Aion" - they all start with the first alphabets "A". Naming your games "A?????" will make them appear on the top of any kind of game lists hence drawing more attention. Do you think games with names such as "12 sky", "2 moons", "2029 online", "4 story", etc really have anything to do with their names?

2 moons and 2029 actually do, haven't really looked into the lore of other two.
As for the thread, in my opinion that's just taking it too far. We can really make speculations all we want but at the end of the day is there really any point arguing over a companies name?

Yes, but they could have called "2 Moons" "Two Moons" which would have been much more grammatically correct, but they did not, because it would have put them at the bottom of the list sir.

For the last effing time, no it's not.

Blizzard was in development of this MMO way before the Activision buyout.

Secondly, no. Stupid idea. GG.

Yep. In fact, we all said that what... 2 years ago now? 3? I forget at this point.

I come back every time they have a free weekend, and they fail to fix the only big issues with the game every time. Nothing to be done anymore.

The horse has been beaten sir.

I threw a few images your way for the comedy contest. Thanks for the chance :) I've been trying to get a key for over a year now.

Good luck to everyone!

This post may seem counter-intuitive, but I love how many people don't care and/or do care, enough to not post or talk about Station Cash.

It just seems like SOEs second hugest screwup of all time seems to have made a lot of people... mad shall we say?

Congrats SOE! and congrats to the players for standing up to them!

You should give all active MMORPG.com members beta access :D

"You are not authorised to read this forum." :O

I only have 7 words that describe what I want:

BETA

That is all...

It saddens me how CHEAP most of you get your internet for. 7 EUROS a month? What?!

Here in Canada it's extreme.

Currently, our only good ISP here, Rogers, charges us 69.99/month CAD. 25mbps download, 1mbps upload, and 125gb monthly cap. It's pathetic. I hit my cap all too often.

However, yay for the internets.

EDIT: I forgot to add something like 17% tax on that, as well as "access fees" of $8 a month.

Just wanted to note that Stradden and the rest of them are clearly right on this. Frankly, you guys are more than over analyzing this.

Reporting the news is reporting the news.

A few days ago Kotaku was splattered with info on all the COD:MW2 products, features, future DLC, etc. Does that mean they're advertising? or trying to bring traffic to the site by reporting news? The stuff was new, it was released, and they were letting their customers (or readers, whichever you prefer) know about it.

Also, on the comment made about wanting them to only report on things they agree with... we call that bias. Bias is bad, no matter how you look at it. If they show bias they are going to make some people happy, and some people mad. Nobodies opinions are alike.

Just saying. You guys are being ridiculous.

If the borders of the monitors were a little thinner it would look great.

"Are you currently using the dual monitor setups? Those setups will look like something of ancient ages before this monitor. It has a 43 inch curved display with 2880X900 resolution in 32:10 aspect ratio. According to the manufacturer NEC, it has a four panels seamlessly blended with a unique adaptation of DLP technology. The response rate is a superfast 0.02 milliseconds. With 12 bit color depth and 100% sRGB color range means that it has wide color gamut to represent the exact color. With a 200cd/m brightness and 10000:1 contrast ratio I am waiting to play FarCry 2 on this monitor in the weekend." SOURCE

That thing is HOT!

I use dual monitors now... but that thing is *drool*

I hate to bust this out but... anyone remember Warhammer launch? Anyone else remember the same issues? Anyone remember what happened 1-2 months AFTER said launch?

lol.

Earthrise: Anarchy Online 2.0.

/excited

Everything about Earthrise reminds me of what I always wished AO could have achieved. Everything they have shows just feels 'right'.

I shall continue to watch its progress.

The gear REALLY reminds me of FFIX/Tactics type gear, which is a good thing.

Also, 'ewapons' is a typo ;)
