If SWTOR 2.0 would have been 1.0...
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/30/13 11:52:28 AM
but since they have introduced gambling via the cartel packs, your argument is wrong My argument is wrong? It's a fact. Go look it up. And while the Cartel packs are a form of chance, buying something for a chance at getting a rare item. It isn't gambling. You always get something in return for what you put in and you can give those items to anyone of your alts.
Gambling generally requires risk. You play something of value against someone else who places something of value and you win or lose. Do I really need to go into more detail here? |

If SWTOR 2.0 would have been 1.0...

Originally posted by simplius Or you could read what I said and not make random assumptions. EA doesn't allow gambling in their games. That's all was pointing out. We got a game that was going to allow gambling of sorts, playing cards and betting in game credits for it, but because of EA, we couldn't get it. That is total bs, and EA sucks big for it. Who else finds it completely freaking asinine that it's ok for a game to have killing in it, Battlefield series, and it's ok. Oh, there isn't any blood therefor it isn't to much.... Give me a freaking break... You can play Battlefield and kill people, but they draw the line at gambling. How the hell does that make any sense at all? There is a massive disconnect from reality on these ratings. I'm not bashing on battlefield. I'm not bashing on SWTOR. I was answer his question on why there weren't certain games (pazaak) and such in SWTOR when Bioware had it in it's other starwars games. And I simply brought up the retarded logic that these people use for their game ratings and what they think it so much for "impressionable young minds" to handle. |

Originally posted by bugmeno Had they done a lot of things the game would have been better. Problem is they didn't do a lot of things. They would have been better off not releasing any space combat all as Starwars Galaxies did, until they could put in a system everyone would like (like Galaxies did)... But they didn't, they made a generic boring as shit space rail game.
Pazaak? Swoop racing? You ask about? Guess what, Boiware was going to put this stuff into game, they were going to have all kinds of crap. They had it all planned out, systems already created from other games... However, they teamed up with EA who wanted a lower rating on the game, and thus gambling had to be removed to fit the T for Teen rating.
I still have hope that this game will become what we all hope it could be, but as time goes on, that hope fades a little at a time. I canceled my account a while back, but still kind of key an eye on it. Granted, with Star Citizen, World of Darkness Online, and EverQuest Next... I doubt I'll play it again. |

Defiance: Launch Day Trailer
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/07/13 12:40:58 PM
I agree. It's a pretty good game, and I have high hopes it continues to be one... Fewt hings to know before you buy though.... Many bugs, chat doesn't work, servers are unstable, all groups are forced into an open mic VOIP (no push to talk so you hear people cough, sneeze, talk to other people in their house, type and so on) Few other annoying things you have to deal with. Also, the world and content are rather small. People have already completed all of the quests, I'm darn near done with them myself. So if you are thinking it's a giant world, you will find yourself disappointed. That being said, I've had a lot of free time so I powered through most of it rather quickly. I would say for the normal player there is maybe a months worth of content, 2 max if you are really... really slow. |

"Things I wish I knew before I started playing SWTOR" [tips]

Can you tell me the craft you use, synthweaving/armormech and the schematic that changed to orange? I'm trying to figure out if only some types can do it or if all. I've been trying to get an orange belt and wrist, they are in game, just really rare. |

The Secret World: Q&A with Ragnar Tørnquist

Rather negative aren't we Mimzel?
"We're definitely not holding back anything for launch. In fact, we're trying to squeeze out as much content as possible in the time we have left" = We could spend the rest of our lives putting every little thing into this game and never releasing it, but we set a time frame for launch to get it out to the players. In that window we're going to get the best quality content in, and not put something half assed out. "Plans, of course, will change when we open the floodgates and our world to the players. We're not rigid, and we will make sure that the players are heard" = This can go either way, but sometimes players have good ideas that help games. Many times players have good ideas that help games. Player feedback is one reason there are beta's turns out. You can turn nearly any statement into a negative rather easy, it isn't a skill. You either look for the good, or you look for the bad. Your choice. |

On another note, there are always 3 factions, if not 4. There is the outlaw faction, and those who do not take sides. |

The Secret World: The Modern Setting
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/31/11 11:22:44 AM
In regard to this, all I gotta say is read Jim Butcher's Dresden Files, and you can see how something like this could happen. He blends the supernatural world together with the modern easily and makes it believable, which, is one of the reasons he's me favorite author atm. If this game goes along with the same basic idea, I think it will work |
