My biggest issue with the game is raiding...i love it, and war doesnt have it. Its been discussed alot so thats not what i am gonna focus on. For me its the gear, i am getting the impression that everyone that is the same class will look the same, or have the same gear in general. I hate being the same as everyone else. Thats the impression i am currently getting from reading about WAR so tell me I am wrong :)

There's 22 unique armor sets for EACH class. There's 24 classes... That's... 528 unique armor sets. lol. Omg now that I mention that it seems way to good to be true. And that's not to mention the random loot that you can get. Oh, and the the fact that you can dye your armor different colours. (And no there is not pink)

When it comes to WoW, you can tell that Blizzard lost interest in making their armor sets look cool when they start making the gladiator sets look like Teir sets. How original... maybe no one will notice.

I am currently going with AoC, but there are a few things that would make me consider switching over (in no particular order):

1. I have read the stickies and watched the video as well as reading the official FAQ (very standard for an MMO) but I have not seen significant evidence of an evolving PvE endgame. Yes they said they may have some major PvE encounters and what not, but that doesn't mean that they will add enough new content to keep the enthusiasts happy. I would just like to say that I enjoy PvE and PvP equally and that playing a game without one of those factors is really means you are only playing half a game. I need to have both to be held (This is a major reason AoC will be such a strong pick for me, although not the only one). If the world is fleshed out at launch than I don't see where they would put new PvE areas (In a video they said new zones would only be added when they add in new races and thus RvR conflict, did I mis understand this?)

Well, I for one like PvP, and pretty much only PvP, but I do see how you're concerned about this. Although there may not be a whole lot of PvE content in endgame, I would'nt doubt that in the not too distant future alot more will be added. The focus right now is primarily RvR. There is PvE endgame to be done such as dungeons, PQ's or other high level quests, and even boss fights during city raids if you want to call that PvE (or RvE :P). So I wouldn't be too worried about this as of yet.

2. The combat looks slow from the videos I have seen. I don't mean that it takes for ever to kill someone (I don't care about that), I mean it looks like you swing your weapon and you stand around for 2-3 seconds before you swing again. If you really need the cool down to be that long can't you change the animation so it fills that gap? EX: You swing your giant two hammer and it smashes into the ground, you than have to pull it out and get back into an attack position before you immediately swing again, or maybe you spin in a circle because you put so much moment into your swing (Make at least a few animation per weapon speed so it does look repetitive). This would be opposed to swinging your hammer, pulling it back up and standing around for 2-3 seconds before you repeat the exact same thing.

Gonne have to disagree with you on this one. If you had said this about 6 months ago I probably would have agreed with you but after seeing the latest videos my mind had changed. Here's a good one.

www.curse.com/videos/details/575/

That Ironbreaker seems to be attacking fairly fast to me. He uses his shield and axe, as well as his normal swings and he hits at a fair speed. Maybe you just saw some old videos and came to that conclusion.

3. This isn't the biggest issue and really doesn't matter, but I just can't get past how the Greenskins look. They just looks ridiculous. Other than that, graphics do look a bit like WoW (there is no denying that,). I will say that they are improved from WoW and look better, but the art style is very similar, I also know that WoW is really just a copy of the Warhammer universe. Again, the graphics aren't my biggest concern.

Yikes, lol. Greenskins, I must say, look awsome. They actually look like orcs. All gruddy and mean, I love them. And I have the perfect solution to this problem...don't play one. The graphics do look similiar to WoW, except more high-tech. But then again, WoW did copy from Warhammer, just as you stated.

4. I have my concerns about this RvR system becoming unbalanced. Maybe I have missed some critical piece of information, but this really does look like the side that has the most players will be the dominant side. In AoC this can't really happen as there are no factions, it is all Guild vs Guild based. Alliances can form to solve any imbalance in player numbers. This is my largest fear with WAR.

In the beginning, this could be an issue, but over time these things correct themselves. If alot of people go Destruction, then once they get to max lvl, they say, "Hmm I wanna start an Order char." So then a whole bunch of them switch over and it pretty much evens it out. And you also have to remember, alot of people like being the underdogs, so that might make them switch also. As much as you may want it to be, this isn't AoC, it's WAR.

5. I guess this is related to the graphics, but it includes much more so I am giving it its own point. The world looks light hearted and "cartoony", it just doesn't have the same dark feeling as what you see in AoC (I am not talking rivers of blood and breasts here, I am talking the "mood" of the world). From what I understand the Warhammer world is very dark and full of conflict, I just haven't seen gameplay videos or screenshots (yet) that encapsulate this feeling.

First of all, the world has not been perfected or tweeked yet. It will look much better at release. We also have only seen a very small portion of the Warhammer world so you can't really judge this. Some of it look amazing though, especially the cities and some of the landscapes. Check out this video if you wanna see some major highlights.

www.curse.com/videos/details/528/

6. The Greenskins, really now? What kind of face is that?! I know this is a repeat point but I really hate that face design. Again, this is not my biggest issue.

Ow' dare you make fun of da orcs! WAAAGH!

I am not in any way trying to flame WAR or its fans, I am just trying to get a better idea of what this game is (I have read/watched  the stickies and the official FAQ as well as most of those video podcasts), these are the concerns that I have been left with. I have tried to fill in as much information as I can by myself, now I need some help from the WAR community!

Hope some of that helped

Are there any vids or pics for WAR that show it having the Warhammer feel and not just the table top game feel? Don't get me wrong I think they both will offer something new to the MMO gamer, feel that AoC is more immersing than WAR. Nothing to do with graphics mind you they both look good.

Um, your post is very strange and I'm not sure how to answer it... First of all yes there will obviously be an RPG aspect to it. Then you ask if there are videos that show it having the Warhammer feel and not just the table top game feel. I don't get this question. The table top game is Warhammer... WAR is based of the lore which originated from the table top games. They are inter-connected. As for videos, to me all of them depict a Warhammer feel and look.

As much as I agree with you, it will take alot more then just one post to get through to all those ignorant people.

I think you would be better off posting this in the general foums because you would get a variety of different opinions. If you post here it will mostly be WAR fans telling you to get WAR.

But anyways, I'm going with WAR because I love PvP, nuff said. All depends what you like.

Curious! I haven't seen these cheap shots? Any links perhaps?

I am still waiting for those links...

I got nothing to prove!. Check your age of conan forums for delayed release topic, i think around page 4 there is the dev response post. There is a cheap shot at the delay of WAR by a funcom dev.

Here it is:

I shall be vindicated in this decision! Hey, we could have given you some bull**** reason about needing more time to polish a startup area or whatnot. This is the truth. It stings.

Omg they actually said that? From all the videos I saw they were all nerdy, foreign people...

So what exactly was the reason for them dleaying it? If there's something wrong with redoing a startup area and 2 races then I'd like to see what they plan on doing with the extra time they're taking now.

Yes, there is another topic, oh well my bad.

Um...Have you ever been to the fansites? "No." That's what I thought. They are just as good as an official forum and the devs have posted at them numerous times so obviously they do care about what their fans would like to see.

Huh? The chicken is only there to stop you from going into low lvl RvR areas and ganking lvl 10s. Whats wrong with that? And for that matter why does that take away from the fact that war is everwhere? I don't get it...

And also, the chicken hasn't been confirmed yet, they may not even do it. For all we know it could be a joke that we all so openly fell for. If it is then lol.

Ive been playing WoW for 3 years now and Ive stayed with WoW because there was always a bit of pvp competition in the game. PvP ranks, guild rivalries regarding battlegrounds, and now arena ranks and such. I wanted to ask if theres going to be a similar concept like that in warhammer. The question is, is there going to be a way to distinguish one guild or a team of 5 with another guild regarding skill and not just gear? Why would a pvper want to play WAR if the game is just about endless sacing of cities over and over again. The game will just turn into a casual type game where people logon for a few hours, do a little pvp and not work toward a rank or move up a pvp ladder system.

I personally think as a pvp game, it should develop a type of BG ladder or ranking system so the pvp people would aim to acheive, because we know that most pvpers that MMOS are mostly hardcore players to begin with who work towards perfection.

Guilds have 100 ranks. It works kind of like a real player. You build up xp and your guilds gains ranks. Then as you gain ranks you unlock features like banners, symbols, etc. Not really sure about all the details or what you do to gain xp for your guild, but yea there's 100 ranks. There is also renown ranks. I think there's 100 of those as well. Not sure what they are either. Not much info has been released about them yet.

In many of the games out there right now (i.e. WoW, EQ2, CoV/CoH) moving is a key part of a winning pvp strategy; it's hard to imagine a fun, immersive game where you just stand in place and fight like a pewter statue.

There's collision detection in WAR, so obviously there's gonna be less movement.

I like the feature of guild levels. I've played MMO's with them and I didnt't find any problems. And I doubt that your character will lose xp if you leave. It'll probably only be that if you leave the guild, the guild will lose xp.

Great article. Guild levels should be interesting. Should make for some fun competition. Three to four months to lvl to max is about average (for your first character) these days so that's good to hear too. And these city raids sound like they'll never get old. Can't wait to try.

Wow, the cities are enormous! Altdorf and the dwarf city (I forgot the name) are absolutely stunning. Massive amount of detail has been put into designing them. I cant wait to see what they'll look like on fire lol.

I think it is a terrible idea. For a few reasons: 1. Everyone will want to be one and soon enough everyone WILL be one   2. They will absolutely own up arena's. A team with a DK will easily have the upper-hand  3. It will pretty much replace the roles that warriors and rogues have in instances due to the fact that they can tank with 2h swords or dual wielding, which means they can tank and do alot of dps  4. Even if it is somewhat difficult to obtain a DK, once someone does and they become unbeatable 1 on 1, people will start complaining, and guess what will happen, Blizzard will nerf them defeating the entire purpose of having a DK

So in my opinion, they should defenitely not go through with this. I fail to see any good that could possibly come out of introducing them into WoW. (Other then to make the people who have them feel special)

Ya I'm sure thats what everyone is saying. In about 3 months after release there will be literally 5 million death knights running around slaughtering people and then everyone is gonna start complaining that they need a nerf and then blizzard will listen to them, which in the end will end up defeating the entire purpose of having a hero class in the game. That is what will happen. Not to mention the fact that only a handful of people can say they have killed Illidan, and now we move on to Arthas... wow...poor guy, barely even got any action. Then when people get to Arthas, SOUTHREND is in stores! Buy it now and lvl to 90! Please, this expansion is a joke. Remember how hyped people were about BC? Boy did that deliver -.-. I mean who didnt enjoy the exact same thing over again....

Old, old WoW was great. Then BG's ruined world PvP, got less fun. Then BC came out, people got annoyed and started leaving. Now WotLK, the people who were on the verge of leaving will once they realize that it is once again the same thing. And thus, there is no need for a WoW killer MMORPG, cuz it will kill itself...

Ok, scratch out points 3,4,6,8,9 and u might, just might, have a successful expansion. If they raise the lvl cap to 80 their 9 million number will go bye bye.

If there is one thing I learned about MMORPG's it's that you should not judge them before playing them. I used to think that WoW sucked balls and I used to make fun of my friends for playing. Then they finally convinced me to play and I loved it... that is until I realized once more how shitty it was. (But that was only because it has zero PvP content other then BG's) So i suggest you do not base your entire opinion on what you have seen because the truth is Mythic obviously has not shown us the REAL beauty of Warhammer. Even those who were fortunate enough to recieve a beta key are sure to see drastic changes at release. Part of being hyped for a game is to be patient and have hopes that the game will deliver. I'm convinced that WAR will. Animations and graphics will be tweeked at the end. Besides, it's they gameplay that counts for me. I would be happy with the graphics they have right now, which btw are definitely better then WoW's.
