Most people love the idea of getting unique gear that seperates you from other people.. 

This game sounds more and more like a big generic pointless frag fest.

I can tell your part of the "new" MMOers.  Most old schoolers HATE!! getting unique gear to seperate each other.  We would use our skills and abilities to differentiate ourself from one another rathe then have a nice little neon colored head band.

Atleast they are taking small steps into the right direction.  They should have never introduced those bags of sending. 

Maybe they'll make arties so plentyfull with the new updates that they can switch the system back to vanq, power, and so on.  That would be nice!

I just started player Dungeon Runners. They have several servers--only one is PVP. Further, they show the number of players on each server. The PVP server never reaches 5% of the total. Indeed, yesterday there were nearly 500 on the regular servers and only 2 on the PVP server.

So, I suspect that PVPers are more vocal giving the false impression that PVP is more popular that it actually is.

What do you think?

Its not the PvP that everyone is crying about.  Its the patches they put into the game that made it boring.  People play in tram and other non "pvp" shards cause its easier.  Most people will chose the easy way out.  I for one like the pvp aspect because it made everything more challenging rather then having everything handed to me.

Yes, I have been reading up on Darkfall lately, and it does seem like this dev team is highly inspired by uo. Does anyone know if this indeed the case? Were they inspired by UO? It sure seems like it. By the way, I'm just curious, as I think this game is a fantastic idea, and I hope it succeeds. Nah not UO, everything coming out seems to be inspired by the king of MMOs WoW.

Brian, Buddy, Pal, read a lil on darkfall.  Its nowhere near WoW.  PVP, Looting, Stealing, Ship Wars, Destroying Player owned Buildings, no Safe zones.

I did that once.  When i first started to get into pvp.  Had the GM's called on us though.  It was fun though. Its funny how I was a big trammy till I started hanging out with a bunch of thiefs.  Different game I never noticed before.

What is the problem with elves? With new land comes new races, monsters ect.

 

The problem with elves?  The problem with elves is every other freakin game has them.  What was so wrong with running around as a human?  When I started playing UO i thought it was based around the mystical world of wizards and knights.  It was too! until they braught in mechanical golems, (wierd) then they braught in the % changes, neon items, Item based armor and weapons, Giant beetles, Giant Ants,  insurance, the list goes on and on. 

We aren't bitching just for the hell of it.  We grew up with UO, and seeing it change into a Piece of "crap" bothers us.  We bitch cause we care!

If UO is so great then why are you waisting your time posting here.  Shouldn't you be playing?  I know when I was playing UO, I never once posted on a forum cause the game kept me playing instead of posting.

 

I've played UO since the begining as well. I don't like the neon bullsh!t, armor properties, insure,  ect. But I don't come here to bitch about it either. UO is still based around the world of knights and wizards. It just so happens that new land was discovered along with a new race. Is that so hard to believe? Because every other game has elves, that means UO isn't allowed to?

Why am I posting here? Well...some of us have to work for a living. "UO is so great" that I have to read about it when I'm not home to play it.

 

Welp, I do come hear to Bitch about it.  The reason I played uo was because there is no other game like it, but when you start adding elfs, % and all that crap like every other game,  it doesn't make it interesting anymore.

I come here to read about several games, not just UO.

If EA would make a classic shard we'd all be playing and there wouldn't be any bitching. Instead you have people who can't let go of the game, and think that bitching continuously will get EA to change UO to the way it was.

One more time, I hate NEON, armor properties, nerfs, insurance, ect. But the game IN ITS CURRENT STATE is still one of the best mmo's I've ever played.

Over the past 4-5 years i've seen nothing but whining on the forums, and it seems that whoever can whine the loudest actually makes changes for the game.  Im just giving it a try!

You can always tell who the young mmo'er is.  Everything is Wow standards.  I believe in KR you can zoom into your char but its only from top view.  Thats the way UO has always been and should be.  If it not what your looking four theres always the other 100ish games that do zoom in for you.  

The only thing I disagree with you about is the graphics.  As "out of date" as they might be.  I love the attention to detail it had.  I'm actually looking for another MMORPG game that has the same type of graphics.  I've failed to find one so far, but im still looking.  dont get me wrong, 3d is nice and all, but it doesn't do it for me.

LOL, welcome to uo.  The day AOS came out, I took my 7x gm out into the woods and got my butt kicked my a mongbat.I sold my account right after that.  UO is item based and  Gm armor isnt' worth snot. You have to go out and grind for a few hours to find some items on monsters.  That or spend a few million to find something nice.  Yeah, a million today is like 10k to us back in the day.

I have been playing UO for 5 years now.  Yeah I started just after AoS came out and I love the game.  There are no other games out there that I have found that has the interest that UO has for me.  I've played a  lot of them but find myself getting bored and out of things to do after a few months of playing.

I truely hope they do not close down UO.  Which bring me to my title "Breath of fresh air".  I stumbled onto this web site and the UO section.  It is nice to see posts and ideas about this game without the flames of the old site I used to frequent (Stratics).

This over all site is awesome and I hope to add to UO discussions in the future.

Welcome!  Glad its a breaht of fresh air for you.  I find a lot of people who post on here are old UO players who would like to see an old UO style game.  It always interests me how people can like UO after AOS,  I just couldn't pick it up (%'s and all)   Sorry to hear you weren't able to play UO before AOS, good thing though is you wont be addicted to searching the UO boards hoping that they might revert one day.
