Just let it die man, Just let it die.

I've come to the conclusion that EA is only using uo for Money.  They know its going to tank sooner then later so why not get every penny out of it while you can.  UO has its few players, but like now, one person will get bored and jump ship, then another will follow and so on...  Its only a matter of time.

I use to serf the startics boards every day since 2002ish, but i know find myself only looking maybe once a month, if that.  It was fun while it lasted, now lets get Darkfall OUT already!!  :)

I would probebly agree that it takes a while to learn that curve.  I know the feeling of not being able to find a game that keeps you interested, but if your willing to wait a bit, Darkfall is suppose to hopefully release this year.  Atleast thats what they are saying. (crosses fingers)

You could always give UO a try for a month or two to see how it is.  Not sure if they still have the free trial going on, but I would look into that.  Theres not a better opinion then your own about a game you'll be playing.  :)

I cant play it simply because of memories.. its depressing to play and its depressing not to play.. UO is basicly like crack.. and i can never forget what it felt like...

anway i would continue to try.. the UI isnt that bad.. its worse in KR so you could either play in 2D or get used to it... you will probably end up having more fun than in WoW if you continue

If you have to "try" and like a game, then the game isn't worth it. You'd just be waisting your money and time.

UO isn't so much different from those "other" MMO's of today anymore.  You can yell its a sandbox game but its not like it was.  If you wanted to go sit myself in a dungean and farm for wearable armor, or farm for gold so you could purchase wearable armor,  you should go back!

I have recently returned to Ultima, and i couldn't be happier, The community has only gotten better over time with much more than a few very helpful people stepping up to help people that are either just starting to play the game  or  returning  vets alike.

I found it quite easy to learn the new UI system and find  it better than i'd expected, with its ease  of use.  Also i havent seen anyone comment yet on the great graphical upgrades,  not only does it look alot better the  new look of the dungeons and monsters make for an almost entirely new play experience.    There has also been some  recent tweaks to some of the monster AI as well as tuning to some of thier stats.

Around the new player areas i see lots of "young" players starting to forge thier way in the vast lands of Sosaria, seeking fame, fortune,   or maybe  both in a world as rich and deep as it is fun and rewarding.

All in all i'd  say its more than worth a try for anyone thinking of a comeback or new players  looking for a game that has both  the best and oldest (and most ) content, as well as a good community that will be there to back you when needed.  "hope tosee ya on Pacific shard!"

Do you work for EA?  If not you should, because you actualy made a game that isn't worth playing sound good.  Maybe you could even run for president?

To say it short. There is no leveling in Darkfall.. so there is no need for leveling areas. i guess i solved your problem on the fly.

So you start with all your skills maxed, the second you create your character? I don't think it works that way.

Oh. about the item decay, read my post above, with a item spiral noone want that you expensive items decay, and you have to drop it. One or the other, not both is possible. Or name just one PvE game or PvE/PvP game with item decay worth to call it item decay.

Games don't have item decay because they don't need it. Full looting doesn't solve the problem. Sure the people who lose their stuff will have to replace it. But what about the person who looted their stuff? What will he do with it? He'll sell it. So the market will be flooded with items. So the crafter won't have a place

And about the caster story.. i really dont know, do you really have played early UO? Because there it was much more expensive to play a caster, than a warrior.. you needed reagents for every cast, and they were not really as cheap. Armor replacement was in the long run a little bit cheaper.

. You said it yourself, people only kept a small amount of reagents on them, so they constantly had to go back to town for more . It was a total pain.

What is comes down to is that full loot is a total contradiction. You say gear will be super easy to get. Just kill a mob and take his gear. But if gear is worthless, why are you so desperate to loot people? The only reason you would want to loot someone is if they had valuable stuff.

I'd loot you just cause I can.  :)

Even if you didn't have good items on you.

OUch! Zing!  Does your mommy know your playing on the computer right now?

I guess you can say "typical UO player" with that comment.  Its wierd, I dont think any "news reporter" back in the day would make comments like that to other players.  I guess you can see how times have changed though.

Your comment about them fixing the problems.....LMAO, how long have they been complaining about speed hackers, scripters, and that still isn't fixed.  Those houses are going to be burning for years then. *giggles*

*giggles at Vallend*  Shard Reporter huh?    How did you get that job?

From Stratics :

Well is it at least preparation for cheating? I see someone placing naked players (except for bacinets), over 15, all over this Luna plot. I believe they are probably temp accounts and they will be logging out soon, only to log in when barrel scripts are to be run along with their placing scripts. Someone controlling them is speaking in Japanese. Anyone else agree or have a different assement?

I'll post a pic

ah, so you didn't hear about the houses blowing up.  Then having 20 + new chars logging out within the house area waiting to place water filled barrels?

I think you're a shill account too. constantly posting in the Darkfall forums defending it.

See how that works?

The fact is that when darkfall is released, these kids that cry vaporware will be playing it just as i will,

The fact is , the odds of it actually releasing and being what it claims to be are hovering near 0 at this point in time.

You want to know people troll the DF boards and cry vaporware and dog it constantly?

Because people are sick and tired of hearing about it. That's why. sick and tired of hearing it's delusional fans making posts about how Godly it is or is going to be for the last 6+ years with zero evidence to support those claims. Tired of all the missed deadlines , broken promises , lies , and horrid PR from it's devs..  That's why Darkfall actually has enemies and not only critics..  because people feel cheated and made to look like fools by the so called developers time and time again.

Stringing people along for 7 years with empty promises is going to make you a few enemies...

 Thanks for reading.

But yet your in here posting.

Im not holding my breath.  UO is basicaly at its breaking point.  EA will squeeze as much money as they can out of the dedicated players who can't seem to close their account. No matter how much these players hate the state of the game they just can't leave cause its been a big part of their life.   Supscriptions are at an all time low, community is well... there is no community.    Unless UO makes some big changes which a large portion of it has to do with PVP and crafting, it wont last much longer.

So go out their and get all that gold, and Items you can get!  Because sooner or later, your pixels wont be safe anymore.  Actualy, they wont even exist.

People played UO because of the sandbox feeling.  As many times as i've heard "update graphics" you could do that but noone would still play it.  The majority of the players like the 2d and stick with it and I dont think you'll change anyones mind with that.  If a game was actualy that good, graphics wouldn't matter a bit.  I've played WOW, good graphics but borring.  Played LOTRO Great graphics, but boring.  No matter how you look at it, a game wont keep you playing unless its interesting.  Which also leads to if its Fun and interesting to play, you wouldn't care about graphics!

Warhammer online will be out for you sooner or later.  Theres your 3d graphics for ya.

When you read various forums you get a sense that  players want MORE PVP. Let me state up front, I didn't play UO until Trammel opened up.

Let me make a couple of observations. When I played UO I used to make and sell rune books for Trammel and Felucca, so I visited both areas frequently. Feluccca was almost empty; whereas you couldn't get space at the forge near Brit bank on Trammel. (Pacific)

I just started player Dungeon Runners. They have several servers--only one is PVP. Further, they show the number of players on each server. The PVP server never reaches 5% of the total. Indeed, yesterday there were nearly 500 on the regular servers and only 2 on the PVP server.

So, I suspect that PVPers are more vocal giving the false impression that PVP is more popular that it actually is.

What do you think?

Its not the PvP that everyone is crying about.  Its the patches they put into the game that made it boring.  People play in tram and other non "pvp" shards cause its easier.  Most people will chose the easy way out.  I for one like the pvp aspect because it made everything more challenging rather then having everything handed to me.

Sure open pvp but you need hardcore rules to govern them if you want people to play.  Hey, some people like permadeath, how about if you are found quilty of murder your character is deleted... spoil the milk?

Sounds good, Then that way if your char dies from a "creature"  your perma dead also.  Have any other great ideas to add to this post?  Didn't think so..

Everyone can argue that PVP is so bad and it ruined the game, but all I have to do is look at its current state and laugh.  UO took out almost all of its PVP, and all the the risk in the game.  Their, you have it your way ,but now look at the game.   Hah, but your right...... PVP baaadddd

If so many people truly wanted pvp in any game, then the pvp servers would be full, and Felucca would be  packed out and it would be gankage as usual. Fact is, pvp'rs are a minority in the extremes, they just have bigger mouths.

Even in WoW, on a pvp server I can go days without anyone attacking me unless they outnumber me/my group. Pvp'rs like to talk a lot, but that's all it really is. It's like that in any game I've played and I've played everything that's out but EQ1.

I dont think I ever said PVP is all that people truly want now did I?  You can take what i've said and bend it anyway you like, but its not what I said.  Ppeople will play the easier shards "PVE" only because its less challenging.  I played a Red in UO with one of my chars, and when I tried WOW I tried to non PVP server cause it was EASIER!!  Of course I ended up quiting after a few months because when I did want to PVP it was boring and had no reason to do so.

Let me ask you this question.  If PVP isn't an important aspect of the game in UO, and only a "few" people PVP.  Why is it that UO is losing customers by the day?  That UO is at its lowest subscription.?

I think its funny how you left out any comment on the patches.  Ever since AOS came out and destroyed PVP,Thiefs, and anything else that made the game interesting,  its been going down hill

I also do miss the old days of Ultima Online! Mostly the Pre-Ren days. Ultima Online took skill back then. Tank mages roamed, and reds were feared. The path from Britain to Yew unsafe. But there may be some hope! Many people have emulated servers that re-create the days of Ultima Online from 1999 for free!

Recently I stumbled across a server named <modedit>. It is just like UO was in the old days. I will be playing there so if you guys wanna check it out and hook up some old memories again, visit... <modedit>

I found that you  really can roll once again as a feared Pker throughout the lands of Sosaria ...

without trammel!

I dont care what anyone says, free shards are are pure crap in all ways a to z. Trust me, I was a hardcore classic UO fan back in the day and I have played a good handfull of free shards. You will never get back what pay to play classic UO was. What UO was meant to be will never be again since the EA UO team is nothing but hard headed puke bags. The EA UO team will say they cant make a classic shard since the code is gone, thats bullcrap, at one time they did talk about making one and that it was on the table. If people can make crap free shards from home, so can the EA UO team.

Just look at how much cash EA is missing out on by not giving players a classic shard. If they think a classic shard will mess up todays UO, why not just release a classic UO cd? The dopes release a cd each time they decide to add another neon ninja sword or lame arse item to the pile of crap game it is now. Again we will never see real classic UO shard again unless some dude with loads of cash buys UO. I hate EA with every ounce of me and I hope they all choke on a fat one.
