Play it more, and then tell how exciting it is, when all your quests are kill x boars, kill y bears, kill z goblins, etc. Over and over and over again. Every 5 levels there's a whole new set of the same critters you've been fighting over and over again.

Okay, it's not all grinding. There's the ever so original "Hey, why don't you go over to _____ and talk to ______, they need your help".

Don't get me wrong, some parts are actually quite inventive and cinematic. But there's a whole lot of filler in the game as well.  Unfortunately, more of the latter than the good stuff.

lol you just described EVERY mmo out there, there isn't a game out there where you either A don't have to kill x number of monsters or B go here get this go there deliver that, blah blah.

MMO's are about how fun they are, and of the current batch, i would have to say lotro is on top in fun factor.

population wise, you want to go with LOTRO or EQ2, and just for the record, I will never refer anyone to any sony game ever again, cash shops are for asian mmo's, and need to stay with them.  cash shops also need to stay in free to play games.

now that the cash shop rant is over, graphically lotro wins hands down, with vanguard coming in second place.  vanguards world wins, but the graphics need tweaking.  they have volumetric clouds, but even with them they don't beat lotro's sky system.

vanguard has a big diversity in mounts, which is a big plus for me, and flying mounts to boot.. but still mounts do not make up for crappy gameplay.  the dungeons in lotro feel like dungeon crawls, while dungeons in vanguard feel like work.

it's 100% easier to get a group in lotro than it is in either of the sony games you mentioned.  I actually quit everquest 2 for that very reason, I don't want to log into a game and wait 2 hours spamming the lfg channel.

crafting is a tough choice, vanguard is more in depth, but all 3 of them are grinds and not fun, at all.  the only crafting i ever enjoyed was the original ultima online before all the runic stuff.

i could really go on forever, but i will just cut to the chase and refer you to lotro lol.

if any company can come close to wow / blizzard it would be bioware, they have a large and loyal fan base due to great and amazing games.

wow did so well because A warcraft has a large fanbase and B blizzard just like bioware, never fails to produce quality games.

combine bioware with one of the greatest titles ever, star wars, and you are sure to have a great mmo.

so what you're saying is they have got rid of que'd battlegrounds, only to make open world battlegrounds, if it's one simple zone, it's the same thing without a wait.

very innovative.. not.. all they did was offer rewards for something that did not have rewards.  it should have been there at launch, don't try and trick people into thinking blizzard actually knows what they are doing lol.

Why are there no Official Forums on mythics website?  is there an official forums somewhere to talk about classes?

i personally prefer scenario's, i don't have to go look for pvp, i don't have to worry about some guy hiding behind a tree waiting for me to be 1% health before he attacks.

the only people who hate it are pathetic gankers who prey on lower level / wounded players. let them go play darkfall and revel in how lame it's going to be ;p

I agree with you the PVP and PVE would be so much more fun is there was a death penalty . Even the most causal player would have to agree that adding some sort of risk would make the game more interesting.

It's not even remotely as important as having a good reward for doing good instead.

who wants to spend money to repair armor, spend time to recover xp, and spend time walking back to a corpse.  no one has that kind of time to play, and if they do then they need to find a job and a girlfriend.

games like everquest and ultima online are a thing of the past, and need to stay there. darkfall will be the same, lots of people will buy it, and maybe 50,000 will stay in the long run because no one wants to play a gankfest peice of crap.

just as the title states,  this is true with little to no consequence when dieing in the rvr lakes or in the scenarios.

in some games where there was pvp , most people would not dare compete in the pvp because the pvp was risky, eq , you die  the enemy could then loot your corpse , sell it or use the items you took

in others not only a looted corpse would happen but you have to start all over again from lvl 1 because the charecter would be worthless,

and in others they had it a little more fair , where you kept your armor and items, but the gold you carried would be looted, or item that was on you  could be looted.

or in others your armor would be damaged and then a need for armor repairs would take place

in warhammer, you dont lose anything when you die, no xp, no renown, no gold, no armor, or need to repair armor

and the consequences for dieing were not there unless you consider holding your team back from doing its job so that the other forces could be better  off in taking control of a certain area.

is there really any reason to fear dieing ? no

when i needed to get back to a camp so i could get my reward from   pqs  influence or to buy armor , i would simply kill myself with a bunch of mobs on me and that was that, bam i was back .

i would never do that in eq or daoc cause then id have to pay for it one way or another.

would you really want to play a game where you lost items you worked hard for? how freakin dumb would that be, NO ONE would play, you think warhammer has a lack of players? that game would have NO players whatsoever

considering the game doesn't run well on dx9, i doubt it will run well on dx10 ;p

i'm sorry, but there is no such thing as a sandbox mmo, people who think so are blind.  eve is considered to be the best sandbox game out there, no matter how boring warping for the entire game is.

the fact is, even in a game like eve where you can create everything you use in the game, build giant space ships, build entire galactic cities, and even defend/destroy them, it's a wheel that you have to keep turning, you go mine ore or do missions until you have enough money to make said items, and then you blow them up just to start over again.

mmo's are just like life on a smaller scale, you do what you have to do (work) and then you do what you can to have fun.  there is no such thing as a sandbox world, or a sandbox game. it doesn't exist

i was also wondering which game had a larger player population in it. this is not a deal breaker for me i am just curious.  Also what are the biggest servers for each game? any info is apprecieated thank you

i would personally refer you to LOTRO.  lotro has better combat, better graphics, and even though the graphics are better, the performance is also better.. you would think since eq2 has worse graphics and is an older game it would run smoother but it does not.

on the population, I would probably say lotro has more users, you will spend less time looking for a group in lotro than you would eq2.

my only problem with lotro is the sheer lack of dungeons to do, which is supposedly being remedied in Mines of Moria.

I play both games and they are both good. This statement about performance is totally untrue. Also the comment about finding groups is untrue. I have an easier time getting groups together in EQ2. I would bet this person is probably not playing either gamer at the moment.

I play both and have been in both games since release. I prefer EQ2 over LOTRO because it has a bigger variety of things to do. Both games are polished and have good graphics. If you are looking for a LOTR expereince then play LOTRO. However EQ2 offers a lot more content and a more varied play enviroment. Eq2 offers more freedom in how you experience the game. Combat is more enjoyable and varied in EQ2. Also a ton more races and classes to play in EQ2. LOTRO does not even come close in this area. Character models and animations are way better in EQ2 but the landscapes are prettier in LOTRO.

The big suprise is that, while LOTRO has the great Tolkien lore, EQ2's lore is fantastic and just as deep. People would realize this if they actually read the lore and collected the books for their ingame houses. I have a huge library in one of my houses in EQ2.  While both games have player housing, including guild halls, the housing in LOTRO pales in comparison to EQ2.

Over all both games are good games and easy to recommend but EQ2, for me, outshines LOTRO. I have been in LOTRO for over a year and often get bored in game. I have been in EQ2 almost 4 years and still find new things to do and learn. I just do not get bored in EQ2. As many time before I will get flamed and called a fanboi for my liking EQ2 better but look at my avitar it is one of my toons from LOTRO. This should speak to my respect for LOTRO but EQ2 still wins in the long run.

actually i'm subscribed to lotro, eq2, vanguard and wow right now, thanks for assuming though.

and it is not my opinion that lotro's performance is better, it's a fact.

an OPINION would be that I think you are wrong in that even with soga models the eq2 models do NOT look good, in fact I would go as far as to say they look retarded.  so do lotro models for that matter.

I played starwars of the old republic series and it was good. Now, when i see this game as a mmorpg, i think it will be exacly like guild wars. I just hope it wont be like the old old republic from the series with the rock paper scisors systeme. It was so stupid. Only the story was good.

Anyway, if starwars will be pay to play, i will not pay because i hate guild wars. Even if it become a wow clone, i will not play too because i hate wow.

If it become a starwars jedi knight jedi academy mmorpg, i will pay to play.

Darkfall online will be the best mmorpg and i will pay to play for that kind of game were you have the freedom to do anything you want without leveling everyday.

Do you guys think it will be a GW clone or a WOW clone?

do you eve know what you are talking about?  guild wars is a free to play piece of garbage, old republic is being created by bioware, a company who has NEVER released a crappy game, and has continued to put out game of the years.  they raise the standards of games everytime they come out, if they have ANY sort of downfall it's that some of their games don't run at 60 frames per second, but it's close so it is acceptable.

old republic shouldn't even be in the same sentance as guild wars.. that game is a joke.

If you do come back, please choose a server other than Silverlode. There were entirely too many players mining dwarf iron in the trollshaws last night. Darn place looked like Grand Central Station at rush hour.

By trhe way you want clicky combat stick to WoW, absolutly no skill whatsoever required there.

lol what on earth are you talking about, lotro's combat is EXACTLY the same as wow's except it's slower.  you target a monster, you click 1 through = to activate an ability.  it's 100% exactly the same, the only difference is fellowship manuevers.

and yes, i know everquest did it before wow, but wow was brought up here so it was the game in question ;p

MMO's will always be about the dungeons and loot to me, has been since ultima online.   PVP in MMO's is in my opinion, for people who can't play a true pvp game, an FPS.  i've said it before and i'll say it again, there will never be a good pvp MMO unless every class is the same, because as long as your items, your race, your class, and your level makes a difference, it will always be bullshit of who is what class and who is what level, and who has the most badass gear, skill will never be involved.

you can't balance multiple classes evenly.  it will never happen.  there will be flavor of the month each neft bat comes out, the hoard of players will switch to the one class who has the i-win buttons.

so, i play fps games when i want to pvp and test my skill, i play mmo's to kill some frikken dragons.

i think wow's character models are better than most games character models, people may not be a fan of the cartoon like graphics, but the models themselves are far superior to 95% of all games.

people can hate on wow all they want, the fact is is that it's a top notch game programming / graphically and in the fun department ;p  i think people just have resentment towards it because of how hard it is to attain any gear that is nice lol

i've played lotro since beta, still play it today and am a founder.  and i will tell you straight up, lotro's character models and armor are some of the most ignorant dumb looking peices of garbage ever invented.  the artists should be fired in the character department.

that being said, lotro's world is one of the best looking worlds in design and graphically, i think it's graphically better than conan, the only thing conan has going for it is better character models.

i'm highly judgemental though, been playing mmo's since Ultima Online beta 2.

If thats the "new" graphics, sorry to say but its nowhere near EQ2 graphics.

im not a fanboi for either game, but eq2 graphics are nothing to rave about, and the character models in eq2 are definitely not better than wow's.

i think all their effort was spent in advertising, because the game play and design is lacking.   melee combat is so slow and dull, spells look just as stupid as they did in daoc, and character models look like some of the repulsive artwork out of a f2p asian game.

you have to realize the majority of people playing war are the ex-wow crew, so obviously they are going to sound like morons when you try to talk to them.

anyone who is not legally blind can agree that lotro looks 1000% better than war, I don't know what ea/mythic were doing with all their delays, but it sure was not in the graphics department.

the animations in war are horrible, spell effects are worse than ultima online.

and anyone who says the character models in war are better than, not just lotro, but ANY game is obviously blind.  the high elves and dark elves in war are absolutely freaking horrible, i've never seen such dumb looking characters.

granted, the models in lotro are not 100% what they should be, but geez, war's models are out of some crappy F2P asian game.
