try  WELL online mate... It's a skill based sandbox type game with a player-run economy ran by mixed player-npc organisations.  It's not out yet but it's planned fro 2008 and is certainly worth the wait.

That's the tough part.

The game is in beta (russian language only)
The Russian servers were supposed to be up in the end of february 2008.
The international servers were supposed to follow in some 3-4 months after that.

Sofar the release of Russian servers seems to be delayed "a bit". Having been through same stuff with AoC and TCoS we all know what those "bits" are like...

However if you register at the fan forum I will make sure to inform absolutely all of it's members if any date is announced ;)

so the bottomlinewill be... It isn't dead?? it's just too secretive and doesn't care about PR right?? or I got it all wrong again...

I was really looking forward tothis game and this uncertainty is quit dmaging to the "potential" playerbase, i agree with that.

Thanks a lot mate :) The effort is greatly appreciated.

To Yupeizuan: Yep their Technic is just as good as Korean at least :)  It's all about the money basicly since the dev team is located in Moscow - the heart of Russian  IT.  And the preliminary budget was 1,9 million Eu  without the additional investments (that have not been disclosed as of yet) :)

WELL online. Which is going to be a lot better than stargate worlds and star trek put together. It's a techno-magic modern original world.

Here's the official website: www.wellonline.com

And the fan forum: http://wellonline.proboards99.com/

I have been looking for a game that gives you freedom of choice but has quests aswell that gives you PvP but is not an all out bloodbath a game with a cool graphics a game with fresh original ideas, a game with a unique world that is hopefully not full of elves orcs and  hobbits...

This game is now in closed beta. It's name is W.E.L.L. online...
The game is developed by Sibilant Ltd. - Russia (I have just learned that it's a part of the team involved in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. project) and Massive Black US, they are also preparing international servers.

teaser

Here i the first unofficial fan forum of the game, it has by far more info than the off site, a lot of screenies, concept art and evena few videos.  http://wellonline.proboards99.com/

The official website is www.wellonline.com

Right now a preparation for an exclusive interview is underway - everybody is welcome to post questions for the devs that will be answered in an interview exclusively for the fan site.

A cool game indeed - original ideas, nice graphics freedom of choice, all that a player needs. :) I will certainly be looking forward to it.

Btw.

I just looked at the fan forum and they post that the DEVs have agreed to make an exclusive interview for the budding international community of  WELL online. You can all come in, register and post your questions there. Then the forum members will vote and select the most vital questions aboutthe game and the project that the dEVs will answer. This interview will be also posted on the main forum.

Here is the thread about it :)

http://wellonline.proboards99.com/index.cgi?board=dissandspec&action=display&thread=1192005446&page=1

So it seems the Russian game developers do think about the international community after all :D

*strains his brain to come up with THE ultimate question*

Hello Atystrader

Yes we have manyinguild events. 2-3 times a week we have Guild nights - meetings of all guild members, where we spend time together doing trecks, boss hunts, npc boss hunts, fame runs, Silan madness sweeps,  Sport games like yuboball, duelling competitions, treasure hunt events, cavalry events and outpost fights. That keeps us pretty much busy

The newcomers get a mount and full set of equipment. as they lvl up their equipment is upgraded by the guild crafters. After they reach certain high lvls they get the prime equipment for Outpost (PvP) wars and boss hunts.

We never make anyone do things for guild or impose any obligations but it somehow happens that our new arrivals try to lvl those skills that  contribute the guild the most - forage, craft and healing .

Will be glad to see you on Atys.

Cheers

Hey everybody. I was just curious if there is any sort of crafting in SotW an? how is it implememented? What about the harvesting?

Any other interesting aspects of the game apart from running around with an npc squad?

Thanks to all who will waste their time answering :)

This game has an exceptional in-game communications aspect... The special picto-language they have is just brilliant... That would be reason enough for me to take a closer look at it.

ORDER OF THE NAMELESS
english-speaking server (Arispottle)

Such is the essence of our guild's philosophy, our belief, our spirit. Whatever you choose to do on this living planet we won't leave you doing it alone. We are a large and friendly matis karavan guild with players from all over the world. US-EU-Russia-Australia This is our geography. Our players are online the whole day round, so at any given moment you will find people to hunt and chat with. We accept players of any race but we are a karavan guild so to join us you have to be either karavan or neutral in fame.

Our players are mature, polite, friendly and overall nice people. We can be labeled semi-RP since our guild has always been an active particpant of all karavan events and outpost battles, having even hosted some RP events of our own, but we tend to use OOC in guild chat. We have a free PvP stance for our members, so whether to play an active PvPer and outpost fighter or a peaceful forager and crafter is totally up to you. The guild has high lvl crafters in most branches so we can supply everything a guildie needs. We also own a 250q outpost and trade with friendly guilds so xp catalyzers of any lvl won't be a problem. Last but not least, twice a week on guildnights we hold special events for guildies: Boss hunts, Trecks, Fame hunts, Rp events, Sports events, fighting contests, cavalry events, you name it. The guild leader and high officers do their best to make play as much fun as possible for every guildie.

We have many brothers in arms that immediately come to our aid just as we come to theirs. We are allied with many guilds and try to help those in need as much as we can. Our reputation is high with both friend and foe because we believe in sportly and gentlemanly PvP and treat our friends and adversaries with equal respect.

But the most characteristic feature of our guild is the full member support, teamwork and the unique family spirit that you can enjoy among us. That is why we are called Nameless: our individual names, our egos don't matter at all. Our family, the Order is what really matters.

United we stand! That is our faith, our power and our glory!

Well yes of course the community will come to hunt you down :) But all the more fun with ganking :D
There even was a guild like this once Gankers they didn't exist long tho...

If you feel like gankingthere are special underground regions Prime roots that are initially PvP zones. And since very precious  forage sources pop there these places attract numerous foragers and diggers.

Go there and gank all you like ;) If you can make it in alive that is :)
Cause there is enough aggro to slaughter an army of players and the only skill that can help you is IRL awareness and stealth. :D

Gameforge is working on improving ryzom. And by improvements i don't mean dumbing down, I really meen improvements:
- They have introduced casinos in capital cities that work as a money sink for the ricjh and help tostabilize the economy
- They have looked into a number of bugs and fixed them
- they have drastically improved the crafting system, making it only a little bit easier but a hell of a lot more logical
- They are now working on 1h melee and even new options for melee crafters

The way they treatthe game we are starting to see that they are serious people and respect the initial design + listen to the players.

All in all I think the change was for the better.
