I don't get it either. Didn't like Guild Wars because you couldn't run in to people outside of the city but thats not the way AoC does it so I'm ok with it.

Can someone explain me what is the point of Vista 32? As I understand Vista uses alot more RAM and leaving less for games and 32 bit system only supports RAM up to 2,5 GB or something. Maybe Vista 64 is good if you buy 4-8 GB of RAM ?

Exploiting little is still exploiting. Cheaters need to get banned if they knew it was bug and still used it.

For me that would need full class and combat overhaul. Tried LOTRO when the "welcome back" was on and played it about 5 hours over the weekend. After six months still nothing really new and fun. Yeah fishing and barber was in and the new Forochel(?) area but nothing meaningful for level 50 there.

I'm guessing it's great game for RPers but not for me really.

Lets take wow a very sucessful MMO which has raised the bar for mmos and that is a good thing even though there are alot of unhappy players and burned out MMOers. When wow first came out it didnt have much to offer at all and now years later theres a lot to do.

WoW had a lot to do and was well done from Day 1 as I said earlier. All these comments saying that WoW was total S*** at the start, are far off the mark and have no idea what was actually "wrong". You can bet that WoW most certainly had banks, mail, and an auction house from the start. It also lacked the SEVERE IMBALANCES in AoC where a class can be two shot by another that is far beneath them in levels.

I could go on.

I could be wrong but I remember Druids being useless crap even 6 months after launch?

I would say get more RAM. 2GB is way too little for Vista.

Tried the beta and got to level 21 and I'm now "lurking". Probably won't even buy the game. Sure it's nice to look at and less cookie-cutter than some MMOs but there is something missing. For some reason I just can't get excited about this game.

Last time I tried it you could get off the space station. Just talk to Han Solo and he should give mission to fix falcon or something and after that you can land on Mos Eisley.

I kinda agree with 3,5,8,9 can't deside on 1

Maybe start with few planets like 3-4 and make them good with actually something on them SWG had pretty good sized planets but barely nothing on them.

More planets with add-ons :p real cash cow like the Sims-series.

3 factions would be nice like you said.

With less than 10k players left and left with a skeleton crew. I would find it hard to belive that LEC/LA isnt working with a new Star Wars MMO. Either alone or with a third party developer.

If they have learned their lessons. IT WILL NOT BE LAUNCHED IN A STATE OF BETA. They will take their time and make sure that the product will be polished and bug-free.

And will it be another WoW clone? Anything other than a open-ended MMO will fail. Why? becouse you cant make a linear story with only repeative content as endgame content for a universe as wast as Star Wars.

the storyline has only to do with content and not much with the pvp, in pre-cu what was there to do content wise aside from pvp and sit macro'ing at the end of some cave? Pre-cu had people leaving the game regularly because it was a shallow empty bug ridden game then, and when the cu came the rest of the people that were left didnt like the change because it attempted to fix the classes, bal;ance the game, it left the pvp open ended as it always has been, and made content and stories to play through, seriously man, you can recreate whole battle scenes as a player ingame with that new thing they have, how open can content be, you can quest, make yer own stories, do anything. I like swg the way it is now, it has stuff in it, things to do, things to pursue ingame, i sure dont miss solo group quests for hours, lol, anyone remember that bug pre-cu where you could call yer droid 10 times and make yer own group and take all the cash? That is what i think people miss is the bugs and exploits, after playing the nge for awhile i feel the origonal swg was just so thin, empty and shallow full of bugs and exploits, another bug i liked was stacking crystals in my lightsabre pre-cu, you could add crystals go over a zone line tkae the crystals out, the power would stay in em and you could repeat this and make a crazy overpowered lightsabre, one bug that made me angry was when ya were fighting someone and they went in the water and you couldnt fight em anymore, idk man, pre-cu was horrible and a headache, i prefer the nge swg after i had taken the time to play it, its not bad, even better than the origonal, but this is all my opinion, some people love to play in broken empty games though where they can be unbalanced and use exploits.

I for one had a blast. It seems to me that SOE could have fixed all those bugs. The bottom line is they didn't. Instead they went and just destoyed the game. I don't care what you say, SWG was making a comeback in 2005. I guess we will never know.....sad!

You all sound like you have given up hope...

There is the Emulation and it is in its final stages of completion over the last 2.5 years they have made amazing headway with hope faith and love and it isnt even iconic or star warsy

Not to sound pessimist but who is going to pay the server upkeep or buy powerfull enough server to run it and I doubt some 5/5 mb internet connection can support many players on server.

In my opinion LOTRO is better than WoW, i have played both and although WoW can be a fantastic game at times, i much prefer LOTRO.

These are some of the reasons why.....

  • The overall gameplay is better
  • The graphics are astonishing, WoW is abit cartooney
  • The people who play LOTRO are nicer, more friendly and helpful, theres never any "Your a noooooooooooob"
  • The storyline is better, it is easier to get into, partly because it is based on the films and books
  • Its not as addictive, you may think thats a bad thing, but in my opinion it helps me to enjoy the game more
  • The interface is better
  • Its more grownup, you never get any annoying little kids trying to annoy you
  • LOTRO has more potential with future expansions allowing you to go to the likes of Moria, Rohan and Gondor

Whats everyone elses opinion on this?

I have to disagree on few things...

Gameplay in LOTRO is more slow-paced, some take this as boring. Walking and hitting things is bit akward in LOTRO so IMO WoW wins this.

I don't see much difference in storyline. Both have pretty good.

LMAO.. no.. no way. You get to customize interface in WoW. In LOTRO you can only change skins and move things around bit?

I don't see much potential with LOTRO.. just same old fedex quests with different view and pretty much same for WoW.

These are my oppinions. My info may be old since I haven't played WoW in over 1 year and last time LOTRO 6 months ago.
