Well this is the biggest load i've ever heard. Most people complaining have mid to high end machines. I dunno where you're getting your info from...

I've a mid range machine. Not bad, not amazing. This game runs horribly on the lowest possible settings. Its definately something from the developers side. I've tried every little trick available to boost performance. Nothin changed. Theres some points in the game where i can get up to 30fps for about 20 mins (outside Tortage). I really seen that it can be an enjoyable game at these points. But between freezes and horribly long loading screens theres no way i'm buying this game at launch. I'll give it 2-3 months and see what the feedback is.

And for those of you that are not in Beta, don't fall for any cover up crap some of the devs and fanboys feed you. The game runs horribly on the MAJORITY of peoples machines. Not minority. Just look at these forums. Would a reliable game be getting flamed like this? No. The game isn't being flamed for being a bad game. Most people seem to enjoy the gameplay when they can play. Its all down to performance. Buying a game like this at launch shows companies that they can dish up loads of crap and people will still pay. Doesn't bode well for future projects...

Its a load of crap tbh man. I can't believe people are actually swallowing this. Do people honestly think this is whats going on? uh...??? We'll probably get something quite similar to this build at launch. Funcom aren't gonna magically change these problems in 2 weeks. why would they fork up an old peice of crap to 50000 potential customers? Theres waaaay too much bad things been floating around this game lately. I'm beginning to see why the NDA wasn't lifted.

And i'm not just being a doomsayer. I really wanted this game to be a success as i would have loved to get into a good mmorpg again. I'm just not willing to pay to play Vanguard 2...maybe in a year if its fixed.

PS if this game turns out to be great at launch ill gladly eat these words! Its just too much to hope for though...

yet another one who desn't understand beta testing, stress testing, and scientific process.

better get some salt an pepper man, 'cause those words are gopnna taste like shit.

Same old arguement. Someone makes a valid point = They dont understand the beta process. lol...you honestly think funcom sent out this crap build on purpose? knowing that it would create loads of bad publicity? spare me...

Get comrade lads. It really paid off for me. Download a really loud and annoying .wav file and use it as your instant message alert sound. Then keep your volume up full whilst comrade runs in the background. It works and you dont have to sit in front of your comp. GL lads!

Ok i just got a key...still think its a stupid way of doing things. But my waiting has paid off. 3pm batch time so maybe they are taking into account EU customers too. Im sorry....

Not sure about any schedule. As far as i know you literally gotta sit and watch your comp, hitting refresh every few mins. Words cant describe how rtarded this is. I've resorted to lettting comrade run in the background. And i downloaded a really loud and annoying .wav sound so it plays when i get an instant message. Hopefully it wakes me up at like 4am when the keys go out. Grrrr. I really hope this isn't an example of the service that Funcom provides in the future. Bah!.....ok i'm over it.

Beta keys will be given out at random times during the day to fileplanet subscribers. But you gotta be online and keep hitting refresh on the beta page. (or get comrade). Ok, fine. I'd be willing to do that. But the times that they are giving out beta keys are so unrealistic for people who don't reside in the US. I'm living in Ireland and at the moment we're 8 hours ahead of PST. So basically i may have to wait up until the early hours of tomorrow morning if i want to get into beta. Even though i'm a fileplanet subscriber like all of the applicants from the US. They could at least release some keys at more EU friendly times. They are an EU developer after all. And at the risk of sounding like a spoiled child, i will say this.

IT'S SOOOOOO UNFAIR!!!!

That this is gonna be like Vanguard Saga of Heroes. Just lvl 13 are you bullshiting me? At wow you wouldnt even have a lousy talent point lol.

I told this to my guild on vent and they all lolled. If you re expecting me to come play this pos u better step up your game funcom. Tips:  Make it at least lvl 50.

Like this all it seems is they re trying to take our hard earned coin to buy a bunch of bmw for the devs. Games like this if it happends like this are the reason celebrities dont play mmorpgs anymore.

This post is.....words fail me.

Enjoy playing whatever you want to play then. (RealityCheck: You'd have 4 Talent Points in WoW by level 13. Never Troll with things you have no clue about, because it makes you look incredibly stupid).

As for the rest....well, I am will really be bummed out not to have -CELEBRITIES- playing with me. I really miss my WoW sessions with Angelina. She had such a great way to motivate people to Raids.

Oh my god i laughed so hard at this post...ugh. Good times...

You guys ever notice how defensive some WoW fanbois are? The post above only suggested making a gary gygax npc instead of dedicating a patch and you swarm all over him! haha. ugh. Enjoy this patch...even though its the same old thing, over and over and over again...fun

Boring. Same old thing. Wash, rinse, repeat. Theres NOTHING new here really. Its the same stuff in different wrapping. Grind, rep, BG, arena. EPIX!! Even WOTLK is the same old crap. (siege weapons? i'll play a game like AoC or WAR for that. At least they were designed around PvP, unlike WoW)

One would think that with Blizzards bottomless well of resources they could at least fork out something innovative. And also, the time between patches has become much longer. Just wait until an alternative to WoW comes out. Blizzard will get a shock (AoC, WAR, TCoS, Aion)  maybe then they will come up with something interesting to keep their fans playing. There is absoulutely NO depth to this game at all. (and dont throw that "9 million people disagree crap at me") I'd say theres very little guys still playing this game from day 1. Even a lot of current WoW players are looking for something more and are just waiting to get away from the game. Bah, I'm angered again...

I just think that it would be cool for RP if Forsaken and Humans could speak to eachother (in /say mind you). same goes for Blood Elves and Night Elves. But then again, not much RP goes on, even on the RP servers. This may be just a dream for me...

Besides EVE lotro is what i do 99% of the time. This new expansion is a awsome incetive.

I just don' twant to see the other geer get flushed. It should stay good geer , but its almost as if i this is too hard to believe. As long as the geer from hele , rift uru , stys like godly for lvl 50-55 then thats fine.I want to see , tons of stuff , hudreds of directions to alternate your character with that stuff / enhance it , and thousands of ways to get it. Then there can be 5 different kick ass lore-masters with completely different geer, which means alternating thier powers as well.

I agree with you Bedlem.

I think this may be in part what they have in mind for their new Legendary items.  Perhaps we can use our existing items as parts to make these new weapons and armor.

That way the items from the existing content are still seen as a necessary step while still allowing for the growth of the game overall.

There is quite a bit of talk on the official forums about how Turbine will deal with this aspect.  The one thing that almost everyone is agreed upon is that current gear needs to have a place in content going forward.  Otherwise, they run the risk of repeating some of the more frustrating aspects of WoW's current game.

Hopefully, they are using the lessons learned from other games and taking steps to avoid the same problems.

hmmm, well, "only so much".

Meaning, it's ok that the gear you get is worth something but it can't be equal to future gear. I don't understand why players are so adverse to better gear, new lvls, etc.

Otherwise what is there to work for? Why go forward other than to just have the same lvls, same gear etc.

I mean, no one is saying "gear that I got at lvls 1-10 needs to be just as viable".

If they raise the lvl cap and raise the challenges it only makes sense to be able to raise the gear. Sounds to me like they are taking this into account with being able to rais gear to different lvls. So that might be of help.

In any case, what I like about LOTRO is that you can have gear that you received as drops or quest rewards and it is still viable. Heck, my guardian of all things is using a dagger that has better damage than anything I can find in the auction house and it was a quest reward. Now, personally, i don't like the idea of my guardian using a dagger but it works.

I can't speak for Bedlem but I'll try to clarify what I was trying to convey.

One of the existing problems that Wow, EQ2, and other MMOs that have been out awhile have is that once they release new High-level content (and items) then the currently existing high-level content (and by extension the items in those areas) are not visited as often or at all.  A valuable content-rich area is then in essence wasted.

For examples of this visit the WoW and EQ2 boards and look for posts about new items that were added into the game with expansions that are more easily obtained and have better overall stats.   If players can experience content and by extension acquire items that are both better and easier to aquire than what was available previously... that doesn't make for great MMO design.

Land-mass and content that isn't getting utilized in a MMO usually isn't a good thing.  It's something that most MMOs strive to avoid.  This is something that I'm hoping Turbine strives to alleviate if not eliminate altogether with LoTRo as it moves forward and continues to grow.

Areas like The Rift, Helegrod, CD, BD, Uru, Annuminas, etc.  Will Turbine change how they are accessed to some extent once the expansion is released?  Or will they stay the same?  Will content in the new release be on the same scale in regards to how that content is accessed?

I have confidence in Turbine that they have a plan in place that will try to address some of the short-comings of other MMOs in keeping content fresh and utilize their already released areas to their fullest potential (as evidenced by their announcement to re-vamp the Annuminas instances in Book 13).    That was what I was trying to convey in the previous post I made on the subject.

I like that they're adding some more levels... but I've been around long enough in MMOs to realize that the first level increase is where some MMOs stumble.  I'm hoping that Turbine has planned for this moment from day one.  If they have, it will be great; and they will continue their impressive track record with LoTRo that they've already established.

That's just part of what MMO's are about man.  If it doesn't happen due to a level cap increase, then it will happen through other methods.  A new raid comes out and makes the previous one irrelevant.  A new weapon type comes out that is more powerful, making older weapons obsolete.   New content makes old content outdated.  That's life in an MMO.

Thats a bit of a strange comment to make. So just because WoW, EQ2 etc have done this means "Thats life" in an MMO? I personally hate how older places, gear etc bacome meaningless with new content, I just done see why they cant tie these places, weapons, armour into the new content also. Like making items gained from the older places prerequisites for a new crafting recipe or an "upgrade quest". Heck, even the levelling of weapons seems to be a good idea. With the new content they could obviously introduce new weapons, items etc but they could also maybe create quests (difficult ones) that would allow your older weapons to reach "new levels". This would help keep older content interesting and meaningful. Just an idea...

I dont play LOTRO btw (I'm a PvP boy) but this announcement has seriously made me consider this game...lets see if they can pull it off. Nice to see at least one company are looking after their fans...well, CCP do too i suppose...

Anyways, this game looks good so far. Hope it really is a sandbox by the time it comes out. We've all seen how things change in development. I personally think a lot of MMORPG gamers are looking for something deeper than the level/class/linear build thats so common nowadays.
