lol...  Me a DF Troll?  No.  Me a DF Doubter back in the day? Absolutely.

But it appears I was wrong.  So congrats to AV and their new digs and congrats to the DF fanboys that hung in there.

And while Darkfall isn't my cup of tea in terms of gaming, I hope it sticks around and continues to offer a product to the fans for them to enjoy.  Peace.

A few things put me off...

- Generic title of the game makes it hard to be interested in the Lore of the game.
- The generic Asian style art style makes it hard for me to care about exploring the game.
- The generic Asian character emo style makes me not care for my character.

The whole game just says to me "another Asian mmorpg" and I'm tired of them. Lineage 2 back in the day was all I could handle but these style of mmorpgs just don't speak to the Western World.

Yep...  This says it all.  Nothing new to see here.  Move along...

Looks like good stuff Mr.B...

And I'll be getting it for free, wooo whooo! Gotta love Turbine.

Everytime i read a thread like this with this kind of HATE towards someone's opinion, it makes me want to stop coming here. Perhaps one of these days I will.

* mental note - find a proper mmorpg discussion community without any cunts in it. *

Ah yes, ain't it the truth!

This is one of the main reasons why I rarely peruse this half-ass site anymore.  Somebody voices their opinion about a particular game in a negative guise and the jackass fanbois come crawlin' out of the woodwork like roaches with their panties in a bunch, screaming "Troll", "lrn2play", "C'ya Bye" and whatever other moronic statement the dolts can spew out.  Ridiculous.

I guess it's just human nature to try and defend something you like, but seriously try and put forth an infinitesimal amount of intellect and maturity.  It's just a game after all.

Not sighting you out EbonHawk and we all understand its just a game. Let me put it this way.

I knock on your door for the 1st time, I walk in, I piss of you floor and call your house a dump.

I leave and say have a nice life.

*Now I say, how can someone not say something back*  its the same difference, however you take it.

Now I am considered a fan of my house, I live and eat here, of course I will retaliate.

lol...  Crazy ass analogy but  funny!

I used to own a "place" (more like a party cabin)  in Door County, WI.  So it wouldn't be the first time someone pissed on my floor...

The same could be said of people making posts like the OP's. Trying to pass off opinion as fact  and using terms like "lame" and "fail" in all caps is a quick way to motivating people to call BS on you. Course, and this is my opinion, the majority of 19 y/o males from America like the OP don't know how to not express themselves in an inflammatory way and these are the types of responses they are going to get.

Oh I concur with you that it goes both ways.  In fact the I disapprove of either way to express ones opinion.  However the OP did express some examples (opinions) of why he/she/it didn't like the game, notwithstanding a bit obtuse.

I guess it's in the vehemence in which the fans defend their game.  But such is life.  And I do agree with ya...

So pay no attention to it and don't worry 'bout it.

i dont think so, it also has one of the most active forums here.

Ah, yep your right.  It's #1 on "forum/unique hits".  I was assuming he was talking about the "voted popular" games list.  My error.

lol...  Was that a gerbil as a player race?  Awesome!!!

Crazy ass Asian games...

As someone new to these forums here to gather some information about newer games and options currently available, I feel the need to share my reaction to this thread. This is only my opinion, but I offer it up as constructive criticism.

To all of those that commented on the OP’s grammar/spelling, claim to be a veteran gamer and age as part of your response to his review, please understand that adding those things to your posts impact your credibility negatively. Many of you made shared very valid and helpful information and arguments to opinions presented in his post. However, criticizing him as a person or writer is petty and discredits your response. These are public forums for people to share their personal comments about games. I did not read his post/review with the expectation that he works for a game company or intended to write a polished article for a magazine. As a reader I am aware that he is just one person and that one person’s negative review is not enough to go by. So please post why you might disagree with his review, but leave the digs about grammar and other non-game related things out of it. He obviously got his point across well enough for you to point out where you feel he is wrong. If I care about grammar or believe him to be lacking in maturity/experience, I’m going to notice it without you pointing it out.

That said, I agree with Interesting that using the word “FAIL” in the subject line is a bit premature. When I clicked the link to read this thread I wasn’t scared away by it, but instead was hoping to learn if the poster appeared to look for similar features as I do in an MMO. Many of his comments as well as the reply posts that indicate the game hasn’t even been released did more than enough to persuade me not to put a whole lot of stock in the OP criticism.

Finally, having some negative posts about a game is nice to see, especially when posts include why the writer dislikes something. I am much more scared away by reading nothing but sunshine and roses about new games. I’ve been hoping for a Fallout type MMO and believe this is probably as going to be as close as we get for a while. I look forward to trying it out to see if it works for me.

Well said!

It appears you and I are in the same boat when it comes to garnering information regarding specific games that pique our interest.  For the most part I can forgive bad spelling and grammar to get to the main gist of the post and use my personal tastes and experience to weed through what I would find interesting or not about the game.

However I can't stand when someone attacks a poster's intelligence (i.e. bad grammar or spelling) when they clearly don't agree with their comments.  If this the poster gave a glowing review of the game using the same writing skills, most of the people here would not have said a word regarding his Intelligence Quotient.

Now, with that said.  It's way too early to label this game "Fail".  It's an indie company attempting to make an MMO, (not an easy thing in today's market).  I'm very interested in an "post-apocalyptic" mmo and will be following FE closely.  In my opinion, indie companies deserve a bit more leeway in their game development process.

{mod edit}

I'm almost thankful for the p.o.s. that is DF.  It keeps about 5000 of these immature asshats away from other games.  Although for how long is anybody's guess...

To the OP: Glad things worked out in the end with regard to your CC company giving you $ back.  And thanks for giving the fence sitters a heads up.

I agree, that the world of VG (with settings very high, or maxxed out) is really nice eye-candy.  Definitely one of the best out there.

It's the damn avatars I can't stand.  To me they look stiff and covered in plastic (especially the hair).  No matter how you adjust the setting for the humans characters, they always appear to be slightly cross-eyed.  And don't even get me started on the character animations, bah...

Vanguard is a fantastic looking game, in my opinion, and most assuredly has some great points going for it.  Hell it's an MMO's explores dream.  But there just isn't enough (especially players) going for it to have kept my interest.  But hey it might be the game for you.

p.s.  Nice screenies by the way Buccaneer...

try some different genre of games or try other platforms if your bored in mmos. In my side im starting to get bored in mmos but when i try to look for other mmo to play i found out some strategic games like atlantica online and those strategic are really good games compare to hack and slashing mmos.

Seriously who play ONLY MMOs?  Never heard of that.  Theres plenty of PC games to play, not even including consoles.

Right!

I could never play just MMO's.  I'd go out of my frickin' mind.  There are so many different styles of PC games out it's mind boggling.  Ya just have to give them a try.

You can dl either one.  The full game or Tortage only.  Tortage takes about 45min-1hr (well at least for me it did).  I would imagine the full client would take an ungodly amount of time.

Do they sound kinda muffled?

Amazon.com,  ftw...

Online shopping is the best.  Where else can one shop in their PJ's or undies and not get arrested?

Can you be a bit more specific in what kinds of problems you are seeing?

If you are talking about the log-in/server issues then yes Turbine has had problems with this as of lately.  Perhaps due to the release of Book 7, or moving their Data Center or the mass influx of players because of the returning/extra experience special they are promoting.

This is just a bit of a speed-bump in the highway that is LoTRO.  Just about every game has server issues at one time or another.  And Turbine is aware of the problem and are working diligently to fix it.  So I wouldn't let that issue discourage you from playing.

I would recommend waiting a bit for Turbine to fix the problem (which shouldn't take long) and then give the game a try.  They are offering a free trial, so no harm in at least trying it.  If you don't like you can always move on to something else.

But as far as I have been playing (since beta) this is the only issue I've seen.

Sounds like some kind of puzzle with no reward.

That sums up Darkfall pretty well.

Wow, I remember playing descent way back when...I thought Interplay was gone lol.  I guess I should try out Fallout now.

Yeah, we played descent everyday in the computerlab after school and football/baseball practice. We also played Rise of the Triad (RoTT) too. Good times, good times.

BAH!!! ROTT is one of those games I tried to forget about...a cheap attempt to cash in on the DooM craze of the time.

Now Descent was a masterpiece. WAY ahead of it's time. It used full 3d models and environments a full year before Quake was released, and was seriously addictive.

Wan't Interplay also responsible for the old "Wasteland" game, that started the FO craze initially?? I used to play it on my old Commodore 64, but I can't remember if they made it or not.

Holy crap!  I completely forgot about that game...  That was the cat's ass back in the day.  Definitely the precursor to the FO series. And I think you may be right that Interplay did it.

Edit: Here ya go...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasteland_(video_game)

oh and another thread i read said interplay lose the rights to an fallout mmo soon to bethesda so wtf?

fallout 3 was great but would a fallout mmo have as good combat system? my guess would be 100% no but then earthrise is planning a shooter combat system and its the same tech so maybe.

I'm looking forward to an mmoRPG, which means RPG combat in a Fallout 3 world. If they do some sort of FPS game, IMO it would suck.

I loved Fallout 3, had a blast playing it, but I don't expect or want to play the Fallout  Online First Person Shooter. I'd like to play a Fallout MMORPG instead.

^ Agree...
