I wonder how long it will take this game to have server merges. With that picture alone, it seems like it will be sooner than later. Im not a pirate fan, but it looks like another MMO bites the dust. Is it me or is online gaming becoming depressing? |

Was thinking about buying this game and have a quick question. I played the beta of LOTRO. I went to the turbine account page earlier, and it showed my beta account still being there. If i buy the game and activate it will that account have my beta character or no? Im hoping for a yes here, but nonetheless he was only 15, so it wouldnt be a setback or anything. Anyone know? |

Not to be a hater, even though upgrading does help, its not needed here. My friends laptop runs it with 512 ram, and i can run it with 1 gig with no lag or problems at all. So for you guys mentioning that his memory is a problem, its not. It though however, could be a memory error problem. Therefore doing a memory scan could help. But if your not receiving errors after running it for awhile, i doubt thats the problem. A good memory checker and i beleive is free is, MemTest. Google it for the link. But as for his memory, 1 gig is fine to run this game on balanced which is what i play at, and especially at low settings. |

If you could, post some system info. You can do this easily though the dxdiag. Also, are you getting any errors when the client crashes. If so post those. If not, then its most likely some networking problem on your end. If your running any anti virus programs, diable or remove them. If you have zone alarm, diable or remove that too. Also try this: Open up your command prompt and do a traceroute to the main eq2 site or if you can find, one of thier servers. Or you could also try anything related to SOE. See if your getting timeout'd on any part of the line. If its within the first few hops, its usually something to do with you or your isp. If it times out from the get go, its most likely you. I would then suggest doing some virus scans and checking for spyware. The one thing i didnt mention was doing a memory check to make sure your memory isnt failing. But if your not reporting any errors or getting any windows bug prompt, then this is probably not the case. Anyways post some more info and maybe i could lend you more of a hand. Im not the best at computers, but i have gone through quite a few and put some together. Let me know how it works for ya. Yeah forgot about that also. When running in Vista you have to make sure your running it in XP compatiable mode, with admin privlages i beleive. You can do this by simply right clicking the .exe and setting the permissions there. Also as the above poster mentioned, using the launcher in the folder does bypass the SOE launcher. Although if you have to update, you might run into a problem. |

Try adding the eq2launcher to your exceptions tab. Go to your control panel. Click on windows firewall. Click the exceptions tab. Click browse, point to the eq2launcher and click ok. Then make sure a checkbox is checked. Let me know if this works. And just for future refrence for anyone, turning off windows firewall still will not turn windows firewall off. Windows will still set it to run in passive mode, even though you have it checked as turned off. |

A few things you could try that may help you situation : 1. Check to make sure your DirectX is up to date. 2. Check to make sure your running the latest build on your video card drivers. 3. Running the game on the lowest settings to start, then move up from there. 4. Updating your bios. 5. Running a defrag. And if all else fails, run a few benchmarks and post your results to see how you compare to others. Also, if possible, make sure you do a full file check when starting the client and checking for updates. Not sure if you can do this with Everquest 2. If your still having problems, you could send in a petition along with your dxdiag report and any error logs to Customer Supoort. Good luck! Edit : Also, in my opinon your system seems it should be able to run it fine. My friend owns a laptop with less specs and can get it to run on the lowest settings. |

Even if the NDA wasnt lifted, they have given so many invites away it wouldnt matter. Check out the guru site for info. It should atleast give you a decent look at it. Game plays like diablo with a semi MMO enviroment. The only downfall for me in this game is its all instanced, except towns. I would of rather seen the fields open, with only the dungeons being instanced. Other then that, this game is a really good dungeon crawler. But one would hope it is, seeing as these guys are the ones that made Diablo 2. Well most of it anyway. |

Not bad at all. But if i ping over 300 from the central US, can i blame the internet as a whole for the problem? :) jk. Thanks for this though. |

UO, AC, and EQ dont have the community based combined as a whole compared to all the blizzard titles. You think im wrong, then go play wow and ask in server chat who has played another blizzard title and liked it. I can gaurentee you almost half, it not more have played anyone of thier titles. A huge fan base does matter with a game, if not then there wouldnt be a game to talk about. Also word of mouth, through that same scenario works even better. Not sure if you noticed, but you showed me games that only come in twos, when i showed you a company that has more than a handful of used to be top games. Im not sure if you ever played Warcraft, but it was huge. I can't even remember ever seeing UO2, AC2 or EQ2 being top games for the genre. Were as Diablo was a top dungeon crawler, and warcraft and startcraft were top RTS games. Its fine if you don't think im right, as it is my opinon. But i can bet, alot of people out there share my same veiw. WoW was succesful because blizzard was already succesful. Thier previous games gave them enough capital to invest in WoW to make it a succesful game. And thier community helped ten fold with that, because of the relationship they share with a company they know does good business. |

WoW is succesful because blizzard had huge community support before WoW was thought of. Most of thier games were in the Top Ten most played games before WoW went live. Think about it. Diablo 1 and 2, Warcraft 1, 2 , 3 and Starcraft. Surely not everyone of them came to WoW. But thats the thing, Blizaard had a 1mil + community before the game even launched. They just made a game that could merge them together into one gaint community. |

Originally posted by Daffid011 http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/ I know this is a littel off topic, but seriously ..... Amazingly even though a patch was named NGE, its still says SWG. Untill they change the name of the game, its still SWG. And yes i said patch, do you need that definition to? Calling the NGE a patch is what it was. Just because you and prolly 90% of the SWG players didnt like it, doesnt mean SWG is dead. Just because they gave the patch a nice little name called NGE, it didnt change the title of the game. It only changed the way you play it. Hence New Game Experiance. I really should drop this, and im done after this i promise. Im just get a little frustrated when people go around claiming things that are not true. As stated SWG is not dead, just the way you veiw it is.

Not to be a troller, but if it is trully cancelled, show me proof. This doesnt mean show me the NGE patch notes or showing me statistics of them having only 10k paying customers. If servers are up, its still there. So therefore your wrong! :) |

Sorry but SWG isn't cancelled, regardless of wether you liked the nge patch or not. Title still remains. The only thing that was cancelled with SWG, is your account. =) I would have to say Gods and Heroes for me. They had a semi solid product which was already in testing phases. It was just to buggy, the company to cheap, and the team lost all its focus. To bad none of it was trully apparent till after the close. Also i knew a few of the devs over the net and had talked with them after the fall out. Nothing more to say but goodbye, and good writtens. On another note, i wonder what they will do with that code now that they are no longer a company. Im sure most of you think it was crap, but it had some solid points that could have been worked on more. Probably ended up at the bottom of the trash can. So to that i say, GG! |

Yes they are. Is something wrong with that? Im not sure if your trying to mock me because of what games i like to play or not. Is it that shocking that i, a parent of 2 kids, not play games centered around such things. I've grown up, and to be honest, and games like that no longer appeal to me. If your shocked, well dont be. There are alot more out there like me. |

If not then please inform me on who you think most MMO gamers are. Is it everyone but you? And to this game, i have not played it nor ever wanted to veiw it. Pirates were rapists, pirates stole money from hard working citizens, and pirates murdered alot of people because they thought they could. This game is trying to make a bright subject out of a gloomy one. I understand it being just a game, but its just the reason i will not play it. To FLS, or any gaming company i ask this. Why would you make a game that only appeals to a very small niche crowd? I take it this was sort of a starter game for a comany to get reputation, other than that it seems like a waste of business sense. Goodluck and have fun with whoever is playing this game. |
