In fact I doubt games like WAR help out on his cause: "to enhance the development of the MMORPG industry".
I once said that - in its current state - every copy sold of War is free publicity for WotLK. I really think that isn't far from the truth for a lot of people. Because WotLK offers more for the user in every aspect of its gameplay except RvR. And open world RvR is not exactly a success in War these days.
The chief editor of mmorpg.com wants MORE than one game to have millions of paid subs. Like 98% of all sane persons would like to have.
But look at the results: this site is all about hate against the strongest player on the market and we see every other new launch fail to achieve anything of what was achieved already 6 years ago. (subs wise).
So instead of having multple massive successes, we drive people even more into playing the one game.
I can't imagine really that an editor on MMORPG.COM couldn't see the shortcomings of War. Before me lies a Dutch PC magazine: they say in about a 100 words what every person could see in playing War for a few days. Why can't the editor of mmorpg.com see it?
Perhaps he's just too involved...
I for one have never understood why EA bought the product. Or they have grown too big and the decision makers can't judge gameplay value anymore. Or they wanted to have a quick stop gap before Christmas this year. The fact is, EA bought too many servers, the multi millions subs went nowhere and the only ultimate EA succes is "Spore" and not War. While War was the "biggest" pre launch sale succes of EA???
Spore beats War with multi million sales.
So where does mmorpg.com stand? A list of MMO's on the left of this post where you'd have to ask: why pay for a game that is less than free to play games (COD4, 5 etc).
I think after TR, AoC and War the staff of MMORPG.COM should really question its politics in the following months. People being bored of playing too much one game is NOT a good ground to hype new games.
No offense, but when did a Dutch PC game magazine become the voice of thousands of players. Last I checked, I enjoyed the game. Guess they forgot to ask me eh? Wonder who else they forgot. This is just sillyness to be honest. One magazine does not voice the community at whole and niether would this website. If your that hot and bothered by why this ratings system is rating games so high that you dislike, then make your own site with your own ratings sytem and see what kind of people you get doubting your system. If not, then move on. There is really nothing you can do, except make more useless threads of course. Because we all love those.
