In all seriousness, the reason is probably because, due to the loss of subs, the bottom line isn't healthy enough to fund a party - which is dissapointing. I've always loved watching the Blizzcon Coverage. If anything, a Blizzcon this year could have done plenty to boost the playerbases' morale. They could have treated it as a celebration rather than a platform to showcase product.

Pretty sure Blizzard could fund a party even if they loss half there subs. Pretty sure the reasoning is because they simply have full plates with 2 releases before the party and nothing coming up after that for sometime (e.g. Titan). They do have the starcraft xpac but that just doesnt relate to hosting a large event for and these events are usually planned for huge releases.

Seeing as I work in a field were you have to sign non-competition agreements or not get hired, I will say this. They are frivalous and usually end up getting thrown out of court in the US. In other countries they don't, but in the US many have tried to use them against employess and failed. NCSoft hopefully isnt going to go into this battle with just that against them or they will lose. BTW, in the US non-competition agreements go against ammendment rights that is why they get thrown out. Read through one and you will see. 

Think people need to read a little closer before posting. This is what is removed here. They basically spawned random critters that would pick up gold and stuff for you. They were basically pointless in-game because you can already do this yourself. People may be getting these mixed up with Followers which are still in-game and fight by your side. Followers are found in-game and not by a scroll. Can read more about them here.

Not sure about "every made", but then again I'm not sure why it matters. I've come to the conclusion people just care to much about games nowadays. It used to be about just enjoying a game. Nintendo, Sega and all that seemed new. It was more of a luxury to play games and when you did, you didn't have social tools to express your feelings. Now, with smartphones and the like becoming the norm, and Facebook becoming an everday use tool, people can express themselves without a face. To me, it just seems to much. Maybe I'm not donating much to this post by saying this, but then again this post just seems irrelevant and uninformational. One to his own I guess!

The game is that, just a game. As to the issue with Gamepro there is none. Look anyone can give a review. You dont need to spend hundreds of hours playing a game or be established in the game. I can log into any game right now and get a feel of the game within 15-20 minutes. People sitting here saying 15 hrs isnt long enough are crazy. Do you see food critics in restraunts ordering the whole menu? Do you see car magaziines test driving every chevy cobalt made? 15 hours is plenty of playtime in the game to give a review. Plus the starter area is suppose to be the hook of the game. If the game doesnt hook you by then, whats the point of playing the rest. Put it this way, if I can test drive a car in 15 mins and know if I like it or not, If I can eat a bite of a steak and know if its good, then I can test a game in 15 hrs time or even 1 hour and know its a game for me. 

Rift is a great game, people just have different tastes.

@kantseeme, I think everyone knows you don't like RIFT by now. But if you keep injecting yourself in posts about RIFT, then your making yourself look bad. Its called being adult, making an adult decision, and removing yourself from being flamed. Sure you can post however you want to whatever you want. But remember, it will show your maturity.

Russians will like this game as have us EU and Americans. The game is fine, it's not bleeding subscriptions like some would make you believe. Pretty sure Trion is out of the black and are now making a profit. If not, EON would not have happened. I play RIFT to this day and enjoy it. Is it the best game ever, NO! Is it just a game that takes me away from real life, YES. Can I find enjoyment in it, YES! As for the rest that don't enjoy, do me a favor and go find something to enjoy, your wasting your life away worrying about what others do.

Not sure were you got FPS from, but this is a dungeon crawler at its finest. FPS with 3rd person view? That would be a new one.

Once you get to the theives guild questline, you will run into a huge bug that stops a certain NPC from opening the door. There are workarounds if you search Google or you can find the questID and skip the quest all together using in-game commands. Just a heads up and you will now when this bug hits as it will stop you from progressing. Game is amazing btw!

Honestly money is the reason this type of MMO isn't being developed. All the server calls to them from every action in the game would blow them up instantly. It could happen, but it wouldn't be on a MMO scale of 1000+ players, shoot probably not even 100+. You could probably do it like Blizzard does with Diablo, small rooms of upto 8. Im kind of wondering if Skyrim might be able to be modded to have multiplayer capabilities. Hmm

I have been a longtime member to this site for quite sometime now, don't you agree? Anyways, here's my deal. Since about early last year, this site has seriously started ruining thier site credibility. Look at the title of this thread post. Are you guys really trying to start flame wars or what? You sit here and instill these rules for us to follow, yet you make threads that counteract the very same thing your against. Can someone, anyone from mmorpg.com tell me why this is so? Back on topic I guess, RIFT is fine, WoW is fine. RIFT probably is the biggest contender right now to WoW, but look at what games its going up against. To be honest, who cares. Play games to play them. It's suppose to be for fun right? Enjoy the weekend!

Actually that's incorrect. Windows 8 is re-designed from the ground up including a new MetroUI style UI. Its library system allows it to be almost instant on bootup like iOS but be a full OS for not only mobile platforms, but also desktop. If you have seen some of the developer videos of the demo, its being highly rated. And it really does look and run pretty amazingly. The good thing though, is backwards compatibility is supposively there.

Eladi, Paypal is one of the most used and recognizable forms of online payment systems. Also, as it's been said already. This will be more of a way to convert your cash over to Paypal or adding currency from a Paypal account to Blizzards system. I can really only name about 3 different online payment systems that are widley used, with Paypal being the top. And I shop pretty much everywhere.

I would love to see a developer change the monthly subscribtion cost. I remember hearing sometime ago that the $15 model was based on what it would effectively take to keep servers running given a certain population and still see some profit. But that was then. I could see maybe $10/month in this day of age being more reasonable considering the market if the developer can sustain a certain amount of accounts, such as SWTOR. Would be a nice lil surprise.

No, you are wrong. See, I too can claim stuff without any facts behind them. Feel free to link (or tell about) couple of incidents where a tripple A games server been down for couple of days and company didn't say a word about it, with launches being exception.

Rift.

During it's first few weeks of release the game was taken down several times with little to no notice, sometimes during prime gameplay hours, ranging from hours to a couple days, to address severe issues ranging from duping to exploitation of the authentication system to allow account breaches.

It was frustrating yes, but it was warrented because of the severity of the issues, and honestly reflected better on the company that they were committed to fixing issues ASAP rather than wait around and let the damage get worse.

Sadly your mistaken, Trion has always posted a server wide messege when servers go down. Did they jump onto the forums and announce it immedietly, probably not. But people knew the server was coming down and why. You even stated reasons why the servers were brought down. You wouldn't know that if they didn't tell you, right? Well unless your just making things up. Cheers! :P

Funny thing is, there was a secret Phorcid in the game before Perpetual lost it. Seems they just pulled the minion out of game when Heatwave took over and decided to give it to Steam players only.

Appearence tabs usually only allow you to customize clothing. Weapons and accesories usually aren't put there.

Quests haven't been engaging enough for people to read them. Most people get to a quest marker, click on him, open the dialogue and scroll to the bottom to see the reward. Screw what it says right, I want my GREEN item! Seriously though, if cinema style quests don't work, maybe another step would be removing items from quests and letting people just be suprised. Sadly we live in a A.D.D society so that won't happen.

Any news on when a forum will go up? Maybe one for just testers for now. Would be nice. :P

Just state your reasons and move on. Man oh man what I would give to go back to the days when forums were actually useful and debates were actually meaningful and something came out of it.  Uhmm... read above the quote you highlighted? I listed several reasons why I did not enjoy my time in Rift. It was hardly a blanket statement.

It's cool if people are enjoying the game. I still have friends who play and have fun. It just wasn't for me. I'm not hating.

It's the red highlight that had nothing to do about your time in RIFT. It had to do with you telling people NOT to play a game because you didn't like it. No offense, but you may want to read a post before you comment on it.
