Red Sun Syndicate PVE Guild [no voip]
Guild Recruitment « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/18/11 2:07:34 PM
Red Sun is a guild founded on a principle where the entire guild is self governed by it's membership. Everything from small things like changing the motd to recruitment is a privilege held for any member. There are no mandates for joining outright, however whoever may recruit you once the game has gone live may be after more raid members or perhaps people who love PvP.
Another defining concept is that Red Sun does not use voice comms. The reason being that there are already plenty of other guilds out there that do so. In fact most if not all do so this is a place for those of you who with to avoid it's use. If that's something you're not interested in then you will have no problem finding a home else where.
For now recruitment is open so head to the Red Sun forums and check the recruitment section for information on how to join. I'll get around to adding people to the site very soon and if you are in beta please PM me your in-game name so that I can get you an invite. If you have any other questions regarding how things will work please take some time to check out the guild FAQ below.

Would you play a female character as a guy?

I'll make either, it really depends on which looks best, animated better, etc. |

In which case you should go to the library. |

Not really sure if this game will pull me out of Aion. Maybe after a few more beta's I'll get more into it. I too skip the rifts but find the soul system interesting. I get the feeling however that groups will only want certain templates, so it may end up being no different than any other. Time will tell, unfortunately only after I do or do not take the plunge.

LOTRO definitely wins in graphics. Not only for the fact that it looks good, but that it does so while maintaining very stable. It did this even in late beta. Aion did fairly good as well, but suffered when you had too many characters on screen (which happened often). Rift is a fine looking game, though it's a bit drab. I suppose that's intended, given the setting. Character models are excellent, environments are excellent.. Performance is spotty however, as I'm able to run on High but at times I have to set it to Low and even then I get bad FPS. They still have plenty time to improve things, and with the insane amounts of polish they currently have, if they launch with a game that performs as smoothly as LOTRO then they'll have me as a loyal customer. |

Wait, I guess I am doubting. I imagine GW2 will be a good game though, It's just that I've heard the whole "innovative" PR campaign before. |

It would be a sad day.. This is the only MMO i've felt compelled to subscribe to in the last three or so years. Only drawback being that so far 1-17, I haven't had a need or desire to group. I've come across no content that has demanded it, I've not be led to believe that doing so will give me better loot or xp. I hope it does soon though, I didn't roll a cleric to solo all the way to 55. |

DC Universe Online: Diving Deeper Into the Game
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/17/10 11:43:27 AM
Game looks fantastic, and actually runs without a hitch. Something that no other MMO that looks this good has pulled off. Of course that's just my experience, but my computer hasn't been high end since 08', and it runs this game maxxed out without a drop in framerates as of yet. Biggest concern would be a lack of non-combat activities. There's no crafting, no secret identities, no player housing, no mini-games, etc. Not a big deal for those who just want to hop in and beat up on some villians/heroes, but for those looking for depth may find themselves walking away too soon.
However, will have to see at what rate they add things in after release. They need to get the other three power sets in ASAP for example. The groundwork for a very successful launch is there however, and it's SOE, they're very unlikely to have server shakeups on launch day. At least assuming they've learned from their mistakes in the past. |

Probably runs a bit better on the PC at that res. Then again, they're primary target is the PS3 playerbase, so they may get more attention on the update front, in terms of UI improvements, etc. |

Hit ESC, click the mask icon on the bottom left and select "back", and you can pick which back asset you want to display. |

Like someone else has said, flagging is typical of PvE servers, while PvP servers are gankville. You also have to deal with all of the filth that is drawn to ganking. It's a pit of a server type. Can be fun though to do from time to time. |

General: 2010 Awards: Biggest Disappointment
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/13/10 2:50:40 AM
Well, kinda saw Mortal online's failure coming when i saw that it was so heavily focused on PvP. STO of course had a terrible team behind it who's decision to recycle a super-hero game's engine for a Star Trek one was laughable. Though, the space combat was fun.
FFXIV was perhaps the game that caught me off guard by how horrible it was at release. You just expect a bit more polish from Squaresoft I guess. Or maybe I do, and maybe I'm wrong.
I voted for APB because while I found it to be fun, the fact that it was taken offline says it all. |

Originally posted by Hrimnir I wouldn't worry too much about the definitions of an MMO. It's an extremely worthless topic to discuss. Rather you personally label is an MMO or not, changes nothing of what is offered. |

Caught me by surprise as well. it's a nice change of pace, vs hot-bar mashing (not sure I'll ever be able go back). Starts out simple, but ramps up over time to some incredibly fun boss fights. |
