there is no legal or civil action one can take against a mmo company for being banned...And here is why....When you instal the game there is this thing called and end user legal aggrement...

The deal is made when you buy the product, usually in a shop, the agreement should be presented, in printed form, before the sale is made. If not, the enitre Eula thing is void, legally meaningless.

But getting your right in reality is another matter, and for a product with a sale-value of  €60 it seems utterly pointless to pursue it.

You're actually wrong here. Courts have allowed EULA to be binding, even if it's after the sale of the good as long as it's before you use the product for online goods.

It used to be how you stated, but the laws and courts have changed with more and more software and online products coming to the market. So the EULA is not void or meaningless.

A friend is doing her Doctoral Thesis on Gamers and needs some people to fill out her survey. Please take 10-15 min to fill it out. It's very short and east and completely anonymous.

I just started again... after trying the trial, I bought the Ultimate Collection and had to start over. Are there any LinkShells for new players on Asura?

I've never been higher than level 10, but I just hit level 10 as a War today, so I'd love to learn where to go and what to see.

I think I remember seeing somewhere that PlayOnline will not be used for FFXIV.

They do not allow it. I tried way back when I first tried the game with an email. Then I came back about 6 months later and when I put in a new email, they banned my account a week later due to having the same information on the new account but a different email. So once you try, you're bound to keep the 1st account or they ban you. As for my account now... I don't know what's going on. Like I said I played for 2 months, left for 3, came back and banned. No reason given, and now I can't get a new account.

Then change some info up, I've done it over a dozen times and it worked just fine.

How would I go about changing information on an account to pay for it? If something isn't right, it won't process payment. So that would leave me in the same boat.... no account. I think I'll probably wait for FFXIV where this payment system isn't used.

Well I decided to give it another try. I log on... and find my account is banned. Why? I don't know. I was a member for 3 months, cancelled my sub cause I got bored soloing, come back 2 mo. later, and it's banned. Ok, whatever, I didn't lose much I was only level 12 in 2 jobs. So I go to try to start a new account...says I can't with my code. Fine, I'll get a trial account and then subscribe. Nope, won't let me do that either, says my email is already associated with an account.

So... I guess FFXI isn't the game for me.

I've tried this game several times, never making it past level 15 on 1 class, and I really like this game, but it's almost a 1 player game. I've seen players running around in the lower level areas, but everytime I try to talk to them they just run by. It's a very hard game to understand and get into, and I really want to, but the community of this game makes it very hard. Not to mention linkshells seem to be the only global chat or new help, but without knowing how to get one or how they work, it defeats the purpose of being a place to go for help.

If I were to try 1 more time.... any servers out there that are newbie friendly and will help a new player learn how to play?

This is rather a humorous thread.  To all those that think they need a bridge crew made of up players please explain how you would implement it.  So far, in all the threads I had read both on the site boards and here, not one of you has even come close to an playable solution.

So all that brainpower comes up empty and yet you still continue to whine about it?

Besides the captain there is little to do on the bridge for the other roles when flying, how many players would be happy doing such, 1 ...2 ...a few more?  Besides what happens when the rest of the party disagrees with the captain?    I could go on and on with all the issues Cryptic would face implementing such an idea.

All I can say is thank heavens they decided against it, or this game would never see the light of day.

Next time before you whine please come up with some workable solutions.

If they couldn't come up with things for five or six people (playing different roles) to do then they are pretty pathetic as game developers.  As someone else pointed out, what's the difference between this and the typical sort of game with tanks, healers, buffers, etc.?

You can't think of anything?  The devs can't think of anything?  Ok, just off the top of my head here are some ideas.

Helmsman---flies the ship.  Controls speed and positioning.  Tries to avoid enemy fire while positioning his ship so that the tactical officer can fire at vulnerable points on the enemy.

Tactical---Aims and fires the weapons.  Decides which areas of the sheilds get how much of the power alloted to the shields.

Science officer---Uses sensors to detect weakness in enemy sheilds and vulnerble points on enemy ship.  Spots stealthed ships.  Jams enemy sensors.  Detects if enemy sheilds have "phased" to a different "frequency" or some such.  The tactical officer will rely on the science officer to inform him where the best targeting points are.  Also detects incoming fire, the helmsman will rely on him to advise evasive action.

Engineer----Directs repair crews to various parts of the ship that are damaged.  Has to decide which repairs are most critical.  Controls overall power allotments....30% to weapons, 20% to sensors, 10% to lifesupport, 20% to sheilds, 20% to engines...that sort of thing.  If he gives 20% to sheilds the tactical officer then decides how to split that 20% between forward, aft, etc. sheilds.

Ok, that's four right there off the top of my head.

So how would it play out in a battle?  You are fired on by an enemy ship.  The science officer sceams, "Incoming from 45 degrees!"  (meaning the front right side).  The helmsman kicks the ship in the ass forward and vears left then tries to bring it around so the weapons can bear on the enemy ship while avoiding further fire.  But you take some hits as he brings it around.  The engineer is deploying repair crews but the power is dropping so he cuts power to the engines and diverts it to weapons so you can hit the enemy hard on the first pass.

The science officers determines that the lower aft center shields of the enemy ship are weakest and informs tactical.  Tactical screams, "I can't hit it from this angle!   Take us below and turn the f-ck around when we get behind him!"

The helmsman screams, "Engine power is too low!  I can't get behind unless I get some speed.  Engineer wake the hell up!!"

The engineer screams, "Ok, damn it!  But you canna have full power for all systems when we've ony got 70% power left!  Cutting power to shields.  Full impulse...NOW!"

ZOOMMM....the helmsman sweeps under and behind the enemy and turns about.  While he's doing this the tactical officer diverts all shield power to the topside shields (because you're going under the enemy ship).   BOOM---KABOOM...everyone leans hard to the left for a few seconds.  But it's not as bad as it could have been because the science officer was jaming their sensors and they couldn't tell that they should have targeted the very rear of the ship instead of the top center.

The engineer screams, "They just took out our main phaser array!"

Tactical--"I'll have to use photons and the secondary array!  Give me all you've got RIGHT NOW!

Engineering--diverts all power to weapons just as the helmsman gets the ship into position and the science officer verifies the exact spot to target.

Tactical targets...fires all weapons.   KABLEWY, the enemy ship explodes in a pretty fireworks display.

Now wouldn't that be a heck of a lot more fun than having mindless NPCs automatically doing everything for you?

And what does the Captain do in your scenario? The problem is... everyone will want to be the captain, or even the Pilot. What if you pilot flies all over the place and refuses to listen to the Captain? Then what?

If you say the Captain has all the power, well then what's the difference between the captain having the power over PC's or just being the Captain of your ship? Many people would rather just be the captain of their own ship there.

If you say there's nothing they can do, well then what fun is it if you're at the mercy of just 1 person? And if that's the case, why would anyone want to be anything other than the pilot?

I'm not one to comment much...but please tell me you're not from the US. If you are, our school system is failing us worse than we realized.

Still waiting on a diskworld MMO.....

you do know it's bioware and EA doing this game...not bioware and SOE.... so .. umm... yeah, you and any other CU Vet who thinks they're owed something on this game are wrong. Wrong company... stop trying to say ANY Star Wars IP owes you something.

Is it just me or does it not seem to ever work? I know my username...and password... and I even changed it to make sure, but it still says I can not log in 1 of 5 before locked out. What the heck? Why have the forums if you can't log into them and use them?

The closer we get to 8GMT the less likely it is that it will be ready on time. The reason is, most companies do, or at least SHOULD, estimate longer than needed. If you need 3 hours, tell them 4-6. If you need 2, tell them 3. Well... it's been almost 2.5 hours now and no update... not looking good to me

In 3 hours they will post a note saying EA has been pushed back until the 20th. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to test our servers and make tweaks.

Once again, POTBS has an end game. The goal is not to be an economic simulator, but to create enough of a challenge for even non-PvP players to enjoy the game and support their nation in reaching the end game. No matter how well you build up your character to be an economic powerhouse, no matter how much gold you acquire, or buy off of Chinese gold farmers, when the end game occurs, and one side wins, everything resets to zero. So, those hundreds of thousands of gold you bought off the Chinese farmers become worth exactly nothing.

Once again, POTBS has an endgame when everything on the server will rest to zero.

Is this really true?  I've never heard this before and can't believe that I've never read a post about someone who didn't like it.  I can't imagine a major game where the players will accept a full reset to zero, where all their previous time and effort invested goes right out the window.

This is wrong.... they reset MOST of the ports back to the original owners... MOST not ALL. Chars stay the same, they keep all their goods, winners get a certificate to buy better ships and stuff like that, the losers get more ports so it's easier for them to win the next time.

Chars stay the same... it's a shame when people make stuff up about a game just because it is not their cup of tea. If you don't like it that's fine, you don't like it... no point in lying about it to make you feel better.

In any game where the gear a persion can buy is a lot better then what he can get solo or in a small group within reasonable time. People are forced to either buy gold or use a unreasonable amount of time in order to catch up with the crowd.

I think that if the MMO companies worked better on implenting quests and encounters that enabled alts and people coming back to the game to gear up to a level where they could participate in whatever they wanted too. There would be no point in buying gold.

If the best gear enables you to do 1500 DPS, the average gamer should be able to get up to 1350-1400 DPS in a mather of days.

I know it is probably hard to get anything out of my rambling but anyhow, anyone have any thoughts on this?

Omg this is so funny, whining about, i can play much so i cant get my uber gear, cry cry cry then shout ingame and on forums HE HAVE UBER IWANT I WANT NOW, and complain that other guy have uber gear becouse he play alot.

So wanne short cut easy way to have also uber gear so you can pawn a guy who realy EARNED his gear by playing, its just a call for legit cheating thats all.

And the dps thing LMAO its realy sad this crying:P

Its never excuse to say when you cant play so much i need to be aloud to buy my gold/gear, you just wanne cheat simple.

Wow.... I can not read what you wrote at all. You would think playing games that require you to read and write that you would know proper grammar and spelling. I guess not, but to help you out some:

He HAS Uber... not He HAVE Uber

because... not becouse

because he plays a lot... not because he play alot.

Wana, or Want to not Wanne...

Have also uber gear? I have nothing on that

it's really sad this crying .... not its realy sad this crying

It's never an excuse... not its never excuse

allowed not aloud
