I've been SO looking forward to this game, bummed to hear it may not be coming to USA for a while. It looks like it's a great game. Just going to keep my fingers crossed... |

SWG was rushed to the market. It wasn't ready to go and it shows. The developers of Stargate Worlds seem like 1) they are fans of the show already, and 2) are taking the time necessary to do this right. All the articles I've read point to them putting all the effort in the game and not rushing it. They're working with the producers of the show to make sure they've got their buy-in. I also like that they'll take things a little further than the TV show could. Should be very interesting! The battle style sounds great too, something different. Looking forward to it! |

Originally posted by StinkyPits That's a great point. I'd sure hate to see the game get buried because the 400lb gorilla comes in with new clothes on. It's still the same old gorilla, but put a new shirt on it and everyone wants it. Either way, as much as I don't want to see any delays of SGW past Fall 08, I'd rather see a top notch game. But, miss that Christmas cutoff, and you cost yourself sales of thousands of units. IMHO. |

Possibly the Single Best MMO in Development
General Discussion « The Chronicles of Spellborn 9/15/07 3:32:50 PM
I CANNOT WAIT for this game!! I'm so excited for it. I like that they're taking the genre in a fresh direction. After reading most of the updcoming games, only TCOS and Stargate Worlds strike me as something new and inventive. I'll buy both of them for sure, and see how the others look after they've been out for a while before gettng into any others. ... just counting down the days before Chronicles is released... |

Send more screenshots, the game looks unbelievable!!! Between the detail and excellent shading, I can't wait to play! Does anybody know how many "worlds" there will be? |

I couldn't agree more with this thread! I'm really excited about the exploration aspect of this game and would love to hear how it comes into play with rewards/leveling up. I've heard there will be something like 40 worlds to explore when the game comes out and can't wait to see what they come up with. Hopefully we can see some more screenshots soon... PLEASE!! The graphics look fantastic, and I'd love to see what other parts of the game look like and to learn how much exploration will come into play! |

I am still playing WOW, because there's nothing much out that excites me. While I'm looking forward to AOC (I'll play it for sure)... I"m very excited about Stargate Worlds! I've never really paid much attention to the show, but I'm really excited about how this game looks. Not just from a graphics standpoint, but gameplay looks like it will be great - a lot of repeatability. And, it's about time we have a Sci-Fi MMORPG that has something going for it!! But, since it's still 6-12 months away, I guess I'll have to wait for AOC to keep me occupied! |

I don't mind the delay, as long as the game is great. Hopefully the delay is to make it better, not simply to make it functional. Looks fun, but I don't know that it would hold my interest for very long. Sure, it looks like Windwaker, but is it as fun?!? |

In my opinion, I hope the devs make the best game possible. Even if it means I have to update my hardware to run it. I mean, why dumb the graphics down to fit the masses (why, to sell the most games of course). I think it's very gutsy and shows respect for the genre if you make a game that looks and plays so great that you have to get a better system. It shows that it's more about the game and less about selling as many as you can. However, I'm not naive enough to think that any dev would go for the former over the latter. Either way, the game looks like it'll be fun and I'm looking forward to playing it!! |

To make the game great, the above ideas are EXTREMELY sound. Couldn't have said it better myself. However, to make the game a SUCCESS, the developer is going to have to appeal to people who have never watched the series before. They need to make it clear that you will understand the storyline, like the characters, and enjoy the game when you have never seen the show. It has to peak the interest of a wide audience, not just current fans. It looks to me like it's shaping up to be a great game, I really like what I see. But I know the show. |

I've been watching this one closely, because I'm dying to play a great Sci-fi MMO. But I just don't think this one is going to cut it. It looks like a confusing mess and more like a poor man's Halo. I don't mean to be negative, but I just am a little dissapointed. The graphics look pretty good, but I worry for the gameplay. In fact, the more that comes out on this game, the less excited I get. It looks like the only Sci-fi with any potential is Stargate Worlds, but that won't come out until 2008. Looks like it's going to be woth the wait though. I've never seen the show, but it looks like the kind of game I'm looking for. Only time will tell. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye on this one to see if it gets any better. |

As much as I'd hate to see this game get pushed back, yet again - I've always felt that it's better to push it back a year or more but get it right, as opposed to sending it out early and having a subpar product. I'm willing to wait, but I'm not sure the general public would be as patient as I am. Especially cosidering there are so many good options coming soon. Either way, I'm excited for this game - Go Conan!!! |

Looking forward to this one!! The graphics look great, that's true. But, the gameplay looks good also. I just hope that there is enough content to keep it interesting. Nothing worse than spending 2 solid days playing a game only to realize you've seen it all and don't really have much else to do. As far as X360 version, I'm glad it will be available on a console, as it gets more people involved, but the computer's the only way to go for an MMO. I have them both, but will buy this for PC even if they both come out at the same time (which I realize they will not). |

I just don't see the appeal of the graphics. They looks somewhat 2 dimensional and the shading is very poor. Where are the reflections? I agree that there is some good detail in some parts, but it doesn't look very realistic or exciting. I hope the gameplay is better than the graphics, or this one will be short lived. |

Puzzles in Stargate Worlds -- NO THANKS
General Discussion « Stargate Worlds 5/26/07 12:59:39 AM
I think having puzzles to solve is GREAT!! Just one more thing that excites me about this game. Sure, you can focus on combat and building your character if you want, but having puzzles to solve if you choose is a great feature. I hope they are Zelda-like puzzles.

Have I over looked something?
General Discussion « Pirates of the Burning Sea 5/26/07 12:39:37 AM
There is definitel a niche for this type of game, it's about time that something like this get's brought to market.
However, for a game with so many delays, I would have expected a lot more. Granted, I haven't played it yet - but it just doesn't seem to have enough pizazz. Pirates are VERY HOT right now, so the hype will be great and the game will probably sell far more units because of a certain trilogy. I'll give this game a chance, but I'm not very excited about it right now - and I really want to be. |

I hope this one turns out great, but I'm worried. Looks like more of the same compared to other games. I've always been a Conan fan, so I have high hopes. The combat seems cool, as do the graphics, so let's hope it's good!

For those waitng on STO, an alternate may be available soon...
Perpetual Studios Version Discussion « Star Trek Online 5/26/07 12:16:31 AM
I'm sooo glad that there are science fiction games coming to the MMORPG space!! It has been sorely lacking. I love WOW and have started to play LOTR, but I'm itching for some science fiction. I've been studying what's out there, and think either STO or Stargate Worlds looks to be the best. Guess we have to wait a little longer for either one!
