General: Bethesda to Sue Interplay over Fallout
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/14/09 1:45:23 PM
Too bad, now i don't like Bethesda as much as used too. I just love Interplay for what they did for RPG genre, they were really pioneers and inovators, and if it wasn't for Black Isle we wouldn't have the quality RPGs we get today. Just remember that it was Interplay's Black Isle division who CREATED Fallout, also they made such beautiful pieces of RPG gaming art as Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, etc. Shame on Bethesda! |

It just that i expected for Funcom to go a step up instead of down. I played AO for a long time and i was convinced that Funcom will take all their knowledge and expertiese to incorporate it in AoC. Completely opposite happened, i was stunned by how stupid details and things were solved in AoC, like it was made by complete amateurs! Just for example, this is 2008. and they DARE to put a table (grid) display of items (like guild members) that you CAN'T sort by columns (name, class, level etc.) -> that is just plain dumb imo. Game was made like it was programmed for complete IDIOTS, everything is spoon-fed to players which makes it non-challenging and uninteresting. Only thing and i mean only thing, that they got right was gfx including motion capturing and avatar design. I was a big supporter of this game, hell i even preordered collector's edition as soon as it was possible, but in the light of AO which is 7 years old and still crawling with bugs and unfinished-ness im really afraid there is no future for AoC which i would be able to enjoy. Just a final though, immediately after AoC i tried LOTRO, and i just can't express my satisfaction when i saw the HUGE difference between those -> Cancelled aoc, subscribed to LOTRO, still enjoying GW (2nd year now) |

Why everyone should play GW (instead of AoC, WoW and similar cr..uff)

Originally posted by deviliscious Thats what im talking about You need only ONE (1) Campaign to play the game (Prophecies, Factions OR Nightfall), so to all posters that say that price is the same here's a small calculus for current price situation: GW = 18,75 € (any of the 3 campaigns in my local store atm) WoW = 15 € (same store, atm) So as any stoneage mathematican can comprihand, price isn't the same thus GW is cheaper. Lets say you go now and buy all three campaigns + ONLY expansion (Eye of the North), thats 18,75 x 4 = 75 €, 75 / 14,95 = 5,02 months of playing WoW. See i have been playing GW for 2 years now and only payed maybe 130€ coz it was a bit more expensive when i bought it (that's still bout only 8-9 months of WoW)
My statement wasn't that GW is PERFECT game, it was that GW is THE BEST MMO PRODUCT ATM because it's a COMPLETE product, that gives buyer/user sense of content and u dont feel like ur getting ripped off, unlike all others that lack either proper support, either distribution channels, either non-balls-breaking price ... To the guy saying that u can't jump, try /jump What im saying, i guess is that i would love that mmo developers took ArenaNET for an example how mmos should be developed and run, considering player's needs and wishes, trying to make a profit but not to ripp off customers, organizing real life social events where players can meet etc. We can just play GW, prepare our armors, weapons, heros and titles and eagerly await the arrival of GW2, coz it will be PERPETUAL and UNINSTANCED world |

When will you people realise that Guild Wars is the one and only COMPLETE MMO product in the world. It has everything that buyer / user makes content and happy: 1. more then reasonable price, it's almost free; To moderators: i hope this is on topic, or off topic or whatever it needs to be to stay on forums |

I just downloaded 3.5 GB big file for D&D online and then unpacked adn install it into 7.5 GB total folder size and like that wasn't enough, of course i had to download extra 250ish MB of updates. All that just to try out 10 days trial... sheesh, that's usability at work, nice job devs. But that's just an example, coz there are loads of mmos just like it out there. It's especially annoying when installer doesn't even say how much material is gonna take to finish. I'm really tired of developers always inventing hot water in every single mmo. I wish all mmo's would look up at Guild Wars system of updating and installing. It's so user friendly and unintrusiv. You just install the main core game and then while already playing the game it downloads ONLY FILES NEEDED TO LOAD AREAS, GFX and SOUNDS YOU ARE ABOUT TO USE, for crying out loud. Isn't that smart and full of care for users on behlaf developers, as well useful for taking a load off own servers for unessecary downloads. Not all of us players in the world have broadband nor time to dl ginormous files. etc. 'scuse my grammer and typing. |
