Because there are ways to ask questions in a mature adult manner and there are ways to ask question in a manner that will get you warned 7 times. Now, I'm not flaming you personally (heck, I don't even know you), but the proof is in the pudding. That said, I have no respect for SOE or Sony as a corporation. With them, or any other product, if I didn't like how they did things I would just cancel my account and leave. That's what I did, what, a few days after buying the Trials of Obi-Wan expansion and then SOE drops the NGE bomb on us a week later. I left, and got a refund. Plenty of other games out including another MMO Pirate game I believe. What should be more infuriating is yeah, you're pissed, but no matter how much angry/derogatory posting you do, they won't change anything and you will never get those minutes of your life wasting ranting to deaf ears back; minutes you could have spent enjoying some other game. Best of luck! |

IMO, it doesn't matter. There are plenty of gamers out there that if noone left WoW both AoC and WAR would be a success. Amazingly enough, WoW does not have all the gamers out there in their pocket. Add to that that financially a company needs around 200k-300K world wide and they are making profit. I think AoC is cathing the attention of gamers who are tired of the same ole same WoW formula that companies imitate now. Believe me, they may not all hang out here, but I have to believe there are 200K plus gamers that fall in to that category. As for WAR, well, having worked for Games Workshop retail for a year, I know Mythic has a very large, very passionate audience who, of those that play WoW they are more loyal to GW. It is up to Mythic to figure out what the majority of those people consider "better" when compared to WoW and then put that "better" in WAR. Again, for many of those GW fans that flock to Games Days worldwide, just the fact that it has a Warhammer skin makes it better than WoW, in their opinion. And all that said, WoW will still be WoW. People seem to forget that with each year, another crop of MMO gamers comes of age, finds out about this type of gaming and dives in. People most always "flock" to the biggest shiny they see, which is WoW, which is why they continue to grow. |

I mean, if they stated that you have to raid, then I'd be right there carrying a burning torch along with you. But if you review all the information out there, it is very clear there intent is not to pidgeon-hole anyone into Raids, PvP, PvE or crafting. They are just offering all styles b/c there is a demand for all styles. And before anyone asks for a link to anything I've said, the answer is no. I've gotten all my information between this site, TTH, the official site and Stage 6. The information isn't that hard to find if you have a little patience and watch, read, listen carefully. :P -cheers! Edit: Caveat, FC could totally 180 on what they have said and make AoC a total raid-fest. At this time, all I/we have to go on is their stated intentions. |

Regarding Battle Keep PvP sieges (the sometimes called PvP cities), it has been explained by Gaute Godagger that guild will have to set 2 different times per week as raid windows. In those times, other guilds can come and attack the keep to try and take it. Once the battle begins the attacking guild will have 90 minutes to take the keep. If noone attacks the keep in the two slotted times set up by the defending guild, then they get to enjoy the benefits for without harrassment. So, there won't be any having to wake up at 2:00 in the morning to repel a raid unless you guild leader sets that as the raid window your Keep is vulnerable. Gaute also mentions there are 9 Keeps in the Border Kingdoms per server to fight over in this manner, and that there will be a list in game which lists the times guild defenders set as their vulnerable time. http://www.stage6.com/user/AcolyteAvery/video/2118412/Age-of-Conan-New-'Keep'-Info |

Torak pretty much nailed it on the head. The suits in these companies, and don't fool yourself as when they yell "jump", the code monkies making the gave start jumping and praying it's high enough, those suits only look at bottom line and could really care less what the game world is about. They want WoW type subscription numbers, which imo, is why the vast majority of the offerings we are seeing are not as complex as say EQ and UO or skill based like AC. Most unfortunate for me and I dare say the many who cut their teeth playing UO along with me as I know we want more than what these companies today are going to offer. Funny, I thought I'd be playing MMOs all the way to my death bed. |

It didn't seem scripted at all to me. I have to very much agree, though, that some really poor questions were chosen to be presented. If good questions aren't asked/presented, it limits the type of answers/information we get back. Maybe a new format should be adopted to where MMORPG.com takes submissions of questions from the gaming public, then posts 30 of the submitted questions of which MMORPG.com subscribers could vote for their top 15 choices. That way we can pre-screen the questions, hopefully vote for the "best" questions, and ensure duplicates are not asked. Not to mention it would probably make the chat moderators job a ton easier. |

Originally posted by charlizdOh don't get me wrong, I was in VG beta and for a good while tried to convince my group of friends to go that route. The idea behind VG was awesome, IMO. I really liked what they had in mind. The implementation, however, was not what I would consider something for my tastes. I mean, when the game froze and dumped me while crossing a chunk line on a PC I just built that would price $5000+ on Alienware or Falcon Northwest over a verizon fios line, well, I guess the gaming gods just didn't want me there. They gaming gods DID know that Sigil would sell out to SOE, so I have to believe they were looking out for me. As I've said many times before on these forums in the past, I never get why people who don't like a game spend so much time on it's forums, especially now when things are pretty much set, bashing the game and trying to ruin the fun of others. I can only attribute it to selfishness in that if they can't have anything nice, they don't want others to. I mean, it's one thing to constructively post why you don't like a game, emphasizing that these are your personal reasons. Most posts, however, equate to "This games sucks and you are stupid if you like it cuz I said so". LOL. Whew, I miss grade school!! |

Good grief Jack. I leave the forums for a month and a half or so to get lost in Middle Earth and you go and leave the back door here open to those few elitist oh-my-god-I-know-you-didn't-just-disagree-with-my-omnipotence folks on the pre-launch official forums to trickle in. Anyway, glad to see you are still enjoying the game. I personally can't wait until player housing. Man, what I'd give to see the look on the faces of those naysayers now. I know it just burns them that LOTRO is doing well and they can't point at it like you can at Vanguard and yell "failure!". |

Take care Krogg. I'll pretty much do the same and spend more time on my server forums and other official forums. I'll still be around here, though, waiting for the Warhammer 40,000 MMO forums to open! |

If you read through the Warcry Dev chat that Jackdog posted in a thread on this forum it'll show that they have not officially announced the official time yet. |

Originally posted by Fensus Well, Fensus, I guess it just goes to show you that many more people than you thought don't put as much emphasis on the kind of PvP you enjoy as a requirement to be a good game. LOTRO is solid, polished, has depth as far as story and is...fun. |

Ok. If you Preorder for the US version, you start March 30, 2007. If you get the US Open beta client from a magazine or other offer that is not a pre-order, you start April 6, 2007. The EU version starts on April 14, 2007 no matter if you pre-order or get a free EU OB key. (if I'm wrong about the EU side someone please correct) |

I have a Geforce 7950 GT KO 512mb and 2 GB of DDR2 RAM and my low res game looked better than those screenshots, defintly. When I upgraded to Hi-res it brought out even more detail, like the screenshots Jack posted in another thread. Of course, in motion it looks tons better. I genuinely wish you had a chance to see it on my machine. |

Personally, I don't see an issue with dropping a whole whopping $5 to get what you want, especially when if you don't like it, you've lost nothing. That $5 can be moved to another game or kept as store credit for when you purchase your next game. Just bring the pre-order DVD and the pamphlet inside it back. I mean, if you're indulging in the luxury that is video gaming, then financially $5 shouldn't hurt you, especially when you have all the aforementioned options. |
