In terms of the smoothness of gameplay, WoW beats every other game out there, hands down. It just feels so good and smooth, nothing else comes close. Every other game I've played tends to feel a bit clunky in comparison. It's one of the things that keeps bringing me back, but not really enough to keep me playing long term. I've yet to find any MMO that does that. I usually end up just hopping in between what few favorites I have. I'm hoping I'll find a home in TOR, but am also wary lest I be disappointed in that game.

I would imagine that's why such measures are added to games. It isn't to keep you from moving ahead of someone else, it's to stop you from burning through the content so fast. People who do that tend to quit soon after, which means less money for the developer.

He's not rating Eve, he's rating the expansion.

I've been watching this thread and I really find it sort of funny, in a sad sort of way. I'm no fanboi of WoW, as a matter of fact I tend to jump around from mmo to mmo, never staying in any single mmo more than 2 or 3 months at a time.

What I see here isn't fanbois defending their game versus the average open minded gamer. Rather, what I see is a bunch of average open minded gamers who point out the obvious that WoW isn't falling off in subscription numbers, versus....well, whatever the opposite of a fanboi is who are almost foaming at the mouth at the very idea that WoW is maintaining it's subscription rate. You people hate the game way more than what's good for you.

From what ive heard ingame and from friends and so on is that most of the Wow players are going to move to Diablo 2 and starcraft 2 both bizzard games so i believe blizzard wont care if WoW goes because they have all these games to come across too lol.

Neither of those games are mmo's and won't begin to make Blizzard anywhere near the amount of money that WoW has even if they sold twice as many of those games as they did copies of WoW. So yeah, if subscriptions fell off, they'd care. But I seriously doubt you'll see a major fall off of subscriptons. It may drop a bit over the coming months, but it won't be as much as being predicted here.

This happens to every game, once players smell the red meat of something new that is good, you can start counting down. Especially ones that have things players miss but WoW doesn't have or is too lazy to implement. Like player housing, better crafting, balanced pvp, better graphics etc.

WoW will keep a stable base of players who enjoy dungeon raiding but the core pvp groups gonna go elsewhere and some already have. Again this exodus would be far less a problem if The New Dev team at Wow were not treating the game like a private server, where it is my why or no way with very odd ideas ( no ideas ) on class balance, progressively more EZ mode Raiding, really they tried to turn to game is to Everquest and since WoW was beating EQ it really is confusing. If this were Vanilla WoW vs any new game it would have to be really really good even with a 4 year jump in graphics, but BC made it easier and WOTLK just decided to tell many players where  to get off and what to do when they get there, their  not taking it well.

Are you kidding? Every WoW player I know loves WotLK. About the only complaint I hear about it is the armor all looks the same, but as far as every other aspect of the game goes, players are loving it.

Well everyone you may know are not the same people I know, many players I know left after BC and a few more still left during WOTLK , your friends may find it enjoyable to EZ mode through handicap parking level dungeons and revel in broken pvp with your newly rerolled DKs but many of us are just not digging it.

No, more likely most players actually have a life outside of gaming and have little time to do all you've done. They don't read everthing printed about each and every boss. They don't play 10 or 12 hours a day like some people must. They'd have to play at least that much to finish all content in a week. No, most players may play 10 to 12 hours a WEEK at most, probably less. They don't have the kind of time it takes to play so much, and when it comes right down to it they wouldn't want to. It's a waste of life.

All these players claiming they've finished content and have quit WoW because it's so easy...and yet subcriptions only increase. You think you're in the majority, when in fact you're in the minority and there aren't enough people like you to even phase subscription numbers when you leave.

I don't look for another game to kill WoW, I don't think that's likely anytime soon. What's far more likely...this isn't a prediction, just a possibility...is that the world economy will go into the tank so bad that luxuries like computer gaming are no longer possible.

So if your predictions happen to come true, it won't be for the reasons you've given. Even if the world economy tanks, the fall off of WoW subscriptions won't happen as quickly as you predicted.

For some reason I'm having trouble commenting in blogs. The cursor will not appear in the comment box at all.

It's amazing to me that people hate WoW so much because of it's success. It's no surprise that any game has it's fanboi's like WoW does, but the sheer amount of hate that WoW engenders is amazing and appears completely irrational.

I played WoW for about a year before I got bored with it. The only reason I ever played the game at all is because a friend of mine bought the game for me so I felt obligated to play it. Once I played it I did enjoy it, but the very idea of pay-to-play annoys me, tho I have to admit that in recent times MMO's seem to be the best pc rpg games going now. I played NWN for 3 years and that's the type of game I would prefer to play. That being said it's clear to me that WoW is the most successful MMO on the market, even 2 years after it's release. Those are just the facts and that shouldn't be something that raises such ire. The only reason I can see that people have such reactions is that they are angry that 'thier' pet game isn't as successful. Frankly the reaction I'm seeing here from some people is just silly.

Being a fan of Bioware I'm interested to see what they come up with for an MMO, tho honestly I'm looking forward to Dragon Age more...assuming it ever actually gets published. I had high hopes for DDO, but Turbine failed to produce a decent game for that franchise. It's too bad, DnD is a great franchise and I would have liked to have seen a decent MMO based on it. There are no other MMO's being talked about these days that interests me with the possible exception of LotR.

You have far more faith in players than I ever will. To give that much power to players is to have a game be perpetual anarchy in which nobody except those who are there to cause anarchy will be having fun. Let's face it, there's a large proportion of players out there who's main goal in life is to be a pain in the ass and ruin the experience for anybody and everybody  they come across. A game like this just wouldn't realistically work.
