Gamespot handing out keys! Hurry

Matter of taste

The animation is done by the guy that made crittically aclaimed "Aeon Flux"

So, Blizz went and payed for the best.

Now...how you feel about 2d classic animation...well that is the mater of taste.

I find the system retarded.  I think most people would only pay about 3 bucks for the highest tier items.  I'm not saying some people wouldn't pay a lot more, I know they would, but I think those people are a tiny minority.

Outside of those really good items, everything else is probably worth less than 1 dollar to most people.  But I don't even think you can list items for under 1.25 or something, which pretty much removes the real money market for 99% of in game items.

It seems like blizzard is just completely unrealistic when it comes to pricing.

Yes, exactly my thought

Yes. Thats exactly that.

I think (now) that RMAH will really have only expensive items. For that strange people that want to spend lot of money for virtual goods.

BNET Balance can be used on everything Blizzard besides game time for now, but it could be added in the future.  Game time for WoW I mean.  This is all games (digital versions), all plush toys, minis, RMAH, anything but game time.

Yes you have to have sales transfered directly to paypal or BNet balance, but the end product is the same?  Whether you transfer multiple small listings or you let them accumulate the same deductions are made regardless.

BNet balance has a limit of $250, PayPal is endless.

My only question on this system is how they will limit you selling to BNet balance when you have $240 and want to sell a $20 item.  I think you will be forced to send it to PayPal.

Also, yes BNet balance is not transferable back to cash, and this is how every system like this as far as I can remember has always worked.  Either send it to PayPal or send it to BNet balance.  Balance can be used on future games, expansions, etc.  I fail to see any issue with this.

RMAH minimum you can list an item for is $1.25 USD

Paypal takes 15%

Blizzard takes 15%

70% left is = 87 cent

So what I am saying is that RMAH items will have to be quite expensive for seller to have any benefit from selling them.

I was looking at RMAH FAQ today. And I found one concerning fact :

"Also, any proceeds from the sale of items in the real-money auction house that have been sent to your Battle.net Balance will not be transferrable to the third-party payment service account."

Meaning that you can not sell lot of small things for let say 1 cent. And slowly fill your balance to cash out when it grows.

You will have to either sell for bnet balance or have the money transfered to paypal.

This means that only substential sales will be worth the hassle.

Also bnet balance can not be used for nothing else than buying on RMAH.

This make me suspect RMAH will hold only real expensive items and gold in bulk.

All other will be sold in Gold AH. Especially since hardcore characters will not be able to use RMAH anyway.

Its expensive. But hey...they are not charging subscription !

Honestly though, these days there is only one game for each genre.   It seems like the CoD sliced the head off of the last game that challenged it as did WoW.

In my opinion both games need to be thrown in the fiery lava pit of Mount Doom. They need to be destroyed because of the mutant offspring they spawn.  High rewards for little effort may be addicting but leaves me without the feeling of accomplishment.

And forget about monthly fees.  WoW went pay to win with their cash shop and CoD just sold an elite status that was once free.

I put these two games together because of their popularity. Does popularity tell how good a game is? IMO no.

A game's population tells you how easy the game is. The Witcher 2, by far the best RPG in years , and best looking game to date but not that much praise from the world.  Why? because it is hard.

Friends don't say "Hey I just killed the champion from so and so dungeon! It was hard to do!" anymore. No they cant say this because everyone and their grandma has done it with a quick roll of a keyboard.

Which leads me to the casual gamer.  It seems players that were once hardcore are now forced to be casual because of people who want to play a game for 5 mins and feel godly. I know I say that skill> time played but it is not skill if one button is pressed to win.  Its like throwing a rock into a huge lake and calling that skill.

Am I becoming the Louis Black of gaming?

How do you explain Demon Souls than ?

Super HC, and very very popular RPG (on consoles)

Or all the MOBA games? Also very HC.

Points to the title

We dont know nothing yet, except one article that might be totally misinformed and subjective.

What we know though. And always did know.

It will not be like TES nor it can be.

It will be a MMO with all its limitations.

And since its developed by western company , it would probably not be that advanced either ;)

I wanted to play Mesmer on live.

But for BWE i decided to start simplest = warrior

But i found it to boring.

So i went with Elementalist , that I consider one of strongest classes alltogether.

But found it tedious to play.

So i finally rolled Mesmer.

And Its perfect !

Even better than I imagined :)

Also Thief is lot of fun !

Basically if like me you like classes : that have great single target dameage and can escape any situation ,

Mesmer and thief are perfect

Yea. I was also annoyed by only short range local chat.

Bethesda : Elder Scrolls Online will not be Sandbox MMO

Kidding :P

It was about damn time !

As I always said

SWTOR must die so the MMOS might live !

In playing the closed beta for months,  I found out that for individual gear and weapons it is better to put them in the GOLD Auction House. They bring in more profit when looking at the conversion rates between gold/real currency.

All I am seeing here is proof that Gold AH will be terribly overpriced , in order to bring more money in RMAH gold trade.

And I suspect Blizzard carefully crafted the game so you will need to use AH in order to be competitive in any form of higher difficulty.

There are two flaws with this argument though.

Even if you don't wantto spend money in game, you will still be able to use the RMAH. How is that possible you ask? I'll be totally screwed and gimped! Zomg! You yourself can actually sell items on the RMAH! You can then use the proceeds to buy stuff in game. Madness!   No. You need active credit card to do that. And I mean full promission to draw and add money to the credit account. So no debt card or something like that. And if you want to use paypal , blizzard will want acces to your mobile phone account. So provided that you bought the phisical copy of the game. And dont want to use CC. You are pretty much screwed out of AH.

This effectively makes the "real money" just another in game currency. Boom. Problem solved.

Wait there's more! There is another, even crazier way to get items that are on the RMAH. Now I hope you are sitting down for this because it might blow your mind. Ok here goes, you can playthe game! "whaaaaaaaat?" I hear you say. But it's all true. Everything you will find on the RMAH or the gold ah was found/made IN GAME by real players!        Yes. But drop tables are like winning lottery. That is what Blizzard have been doing. And what if you got super awesome drop for barbarian, but you want item for Wizard ? Just one craazy example...

I think this is better than your standard cash shop. First off, you absolutely know for sure that all items are available in the game. Second, you can actually take part in the "cash shop" to make profit or even just to make "currency" to buy other items with. Apsolutely no. This is just way to force you into using cash shop all the time.

Blizzard is cutting you in on their cash shop.

As a bonus tip, I would be willing to bet that some people will want to make gold in game. They will put their items up on the gold AH or even buy items for money and sell them for gold as a way of buying gold. So many ways this could play out. I am sure that RMT traders will buy such items constantly in order to make money from it

All said and done

Gold AH will be joke for trash items.

And if you want to trade items in any real way you will be forced to use RMT

Way to go Blizz!

I'm just going to copy your quotes into this post so we don't get a rainbow thing going on in the quote.

"No. You need active credit card to do that. And I mean full promission to draw and add money to the credit account. So no debt card or something like that. This is not correct. You can only cash out through paypal. They will not put money on yoru CC.  Second, nowhere have they stated that you are required to add a CC to the account to buy/sell on the RMAH. In fact they are setting up a battle.net balance account for you that can be used to spend money on the RMAH or even other Blizzard products. You don't have to cash out, that is my point. You can sell things on the RMAH to use that money to buy things on the RMAH.

http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/diablo-iii-auction-house-functionality#q5

How do I pay for items?

For the gold-based auction house, purchases will be made using in-game gold. For the real-money auction house, players can make purchases using a supported payment method attached to their Battle.net account, such as a major credit card or an attached PayPal account. Players will also have the option to use their Battle.net Balance to pay for purchases in the real-money auction house.

NOWHERE in the FAQ or the RMAH how-to do they state that you need a CC to use the RMAH.

" Yes. But drop tables are like winning lottery. That is what Blizzard have been doing. And what if you got super awesome drop for barbarian, but you want item for Wizard ? Just one craazy example..."

Welcome to video games. This is how it's going to work. You can either grind for it (just like in Diablo 2) or you can buy it if you want. This is how Diablo has always been.

"Apsolutely no. This is just way to force you into using cash shop all the time. "

Again, not true. Everything in the AH will be available in the game. You may have to spend more time to get it (duh) but you are not forced into using the cash shop at all. You can (like I said) play the freaking game to get the items you want.

"I am sure that RMT traders will buy such items constantly in order to make money from it"

Actually, you are able to sell gold on the RMAH. So my idea about people buying RMAH items and then selling them for gold is false. What will happen instead is people will be able to buy gold directly.  Guess what? If there's a market for that, then you will be able to sell your own gold as well.

Ok...

Buying and trading trough Battlenet Ballance.

Ok. Its option i didnt consider. And in that case its definite improvement.

However  You will need to sucessfully sell something first - to fill your balance

No, you can not just play.

Blizzard made AH integral part of experience.

If you dont want to use real money in game you will be limited to Gold AH, which will hold only trash items.

So AH is needed for full experience.

But you are denied (real) AH if you dont want to use RMT

Do you have no idea how bad the "black market"  that went on in Diablo 2 was? I never took part in that and just played the game, just fine. I really think most are blind to how bad it was in Diablo 2.

Even if you end up only using the real money one. Its not like you must cash out the money. You can just use it like gold and keep it in the system, to buy and trade. Thats what money/gold is, a way to trade. Diablo is not the first game to use this system. Again - NO. You will need to use full acess credit card to do that.

So many people seem to have no idea how the item exchange is not changing for the worse. That or the skill system being lacking in customization. I don't even know why I'm even trying to say anything. You will just keep on thinking the way you do for no good reason like most of the people on here. Thats why I almost never post.

Those of you who think those other third rate games are even close to the same quality are just silly. There is a big dif and if you can't see that. Luck you I guess. And no I'm not a fanboy. I just think most of those other games kinda suck. Torchlight is the only other diablo clone even worth talking about.

This is what concerns me about Diablo 3 AH system.

If same character can freely choose to use RMAH or GoldAH , whenever he chooses.

Than any above average item will be placed on RMAH - because , let say person had a very good drop and he have a chance to earn some money , why wouldn't he?

This will make Gold AH pretty pointless - cause no good items will be there.

I agree that D3 is much more geared towards casuals - and POE much more geared towards HC players

But I myself have not time i had once, so D3 casual pace suits me ...

My only problem is creaping suspicion about RMAH and its effects on game

They are both single player games..  I only have a few hours a night to play and neither game is hard to get into.  The issue isn't the casualness of it.  It's the 'braindead' factor that the third title in Diablo employs compared to a more complex progression system in POE.  It really doesn't matter whether you are a casual gamer or not.  I certainly am and I actually enjoy POE better.

RMAH will not affect any gameplay.  There was plenty of third party programs to acquire gear, levels, gold from in D2.  Just because it wasn't a button you could click in the game doesn't mean that it wasn't there.  I have no interest in using the RMAH system, nor am I forced to.  This doesn't affect my wanting to play D3.

Difference is in the skill system.

While in POE you have to think hard and plan your character ahead. In D3 you can switch setup on the fly.

This means that in D3 you only level one Barbarian , and not 3 - 4 with different setups.

Less time = more casual

As for RMAH

I am afraid that any good item will be placed on RMAH and not gold AH

Basically making gold AH pointless
