Why not a creature mmorpg? Like dragons and other creatures no humanoids.

First of all, if you plan to use so many flashy words, you should take the time to use proper spelling and grammar. Your post is far too verbose and you call attention to yourself by trying to sound educated. You have the following typos: Don't, I, I'm, visuals, attract, successful, bottom line, anthropocentric, and attraction. You have a few other grammatical errors, but I feel I am being enough of an asshole at this point so I shall desist. As for the OP's idea I agree with the consensus that, as humans, most find it hard to relate to entities who are too much unlike ourselves. We want to play as an extension of our ego, an avatar if you will, in these virtual worlds. So, while a game where you play as a dragon, an alien with five arms and three eyes, and/or bacteria may sound fun in concept the reality is that the players will have too little common ground to associate with their character. Also the amount of effort if would take for the developers to "think" like this totally alien being when designing their architecture and equipment is not motivating. People know what a car is, they know what houses look like, and they know how to grab and hold things. You start telling people that instead of cars you use globs of viscous goo that dissolves your character, transports them via a series of flying eels to their destination, then reassembles them through a process of reverse digestion and you can count of having a low subscription base. Yes, I am a smart ass and it's 2:00 a.m. |

Looking for Free 2 play mmorpg without much of a level grind.

Don't forget kids, MMOs are a business, not a charity. You are not going to find a retail MMO that isn't designed to make money. I know everyone would love a AAA quality game that you don;t have to pay for, but that's not going to happen. You must choose your poison: Monthly fee gear grinds, Item shop level grinds, or the most toxic of all, the monthly fee with an item shop life get as much money as we can before you realize our game is hollow types.
Enjoy! |

I saw on the main site that latest event ends today. Any other events coming out? I was tempted to try the game out, just been busy. Is there still time? I know the game is grindy and simplistic, but all MMO's are. Some are just better at tricking you into thinking they aren't. Just need something to do while I wait for SW:TOR. |

TL;DR: This game is fun and I am buying it. The character creation is a blast, I spent 8 hours today playing around with it and I was excited with all the combinations I came up with. The choices for powers are great, the use of stats adds another layer to character advancement, and all the other layers of character development are great. First you choose your power set ( or do custom and take whatever you want), then you pick you primary stats (some people got confused with this but it is simple to understand if you take 10seconds to read), after that you design your character, finally once you are in game you can change the color and point of origin on almost all your powers. So have fun with green fireballs that shoot out of your face if you like. Next is the bonuses per level. You do not just get powers every level you get a variety of things. One level you get a new power, the next you get to pick a travel power, then you get a huge bonus to a stat, then you get another stat package to buff multiple stats, then you get to increase the effect of a power, etc. You also get items to increase you stats and resistances to damage. This is just a quick run through, im dead tired but wanted to post before I went to sleep. There are so many travel powers to choose from its mind blowing. They all look great and have slight advantages in different areas. I went with acrobatics and it is tons of fun. Not as fast as speed or as vertical as jumping, but its a balance of the two and looks awesome when you are doing flips and such in the air. My friend took rocket boots and was flying around like a mad man. The fighting is intense and fast paced. You always have something to do and you can get into large battles of 1v5+ immediately. You come near death alot if you take on tougher opponents, but with the way regen works in this game you can keep going nonstop as long as you manage your powers properly. The highlight of the night was me vs about 10 radiation mutants who had nukes strapped on their backs and giant mutants in cages that would come after you as well. You can pick up objects and throw them or lift them to find items or rescue civilians. The stronger you are the more you can lift and it appears that you also lift them faster too. This game is very much an action game with tons of room for RP or just having a good time beating the crap out of stuff. I recomend it. Also note I was enjoying myself on a variety of settings. I played on the lowest video settings and the highest. Both are enjoyable, but obviously the higher settings make things look nicer. I also played on my crappy mobile broadband card (which if you have one you know they are not ideal for gaming) and was sitting around 50-75kbs and I was still able to play they game and had fun. Had about 500ms of lag, but they game was still playable. My friend played on his cable line and had no lag at all. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I CAN SAY IS THIS: The UI reaction times are spot on. It puts every other MMO to shame. You do not have 3sec or 2sec swing timers. In Champions you have .33sec and .5sec timers, as well as some slower ones for big powers. You can also charge some attacks or spam others into combo chains for increased damage I made a character with psi blades and I felt like a ninja on crack I was attacking so fast. So if you get the chance, try this game out. It took me 3 days to download it (combination of launch issues and my crappy 75kbs download speed atm) but it was well worth the wait. As I said in the begining, this game is fun. |

Toss me a Beta Key if you have one. I would love to test this game out. |

This is going to be my first month without an MMO to play. I have played every P2P MMO released in the USA and I have come to realize I don't like MMORPGS. I want an online world to have fun in. I miss socializing with people and doing random things because they seem fun, not because I need to level or farm for money. Putting this genre on hold until we get out of the MMORP"Game" mindset and developers start making MMORP"Worlds". |

So tired of hearing that everytime someone reviews a new MMO. What the hell do you expect from a game that would not make it a WoW clone? You have a character, you use abilities, you kill monsters, there are zones, instances, and pvp areas. How does having those make a game a WoW clone? WoW's UI is a near replication of the AC UI which came out years before. Experience gaining, levels, quests, and even talent trees were all around before WoW existed. Instances were around before WoW existed. It is seriously retarded. "I just played X and you have to kill creatures for exp, OMG it is such a WoW clone!" Do characters have to be giant mushrooms who fly upside down and participate in soil cultivation and moisture trapping in order for a game not to be labled a WoW clone? WoW didn't even invent anything. EQ, DAoC, AC, AO, CoH, SWG, etc. were all out before WoW arrived and they have the exact same mechanics that WoW does. |

What registered users means is that they are including people with subs and people who just bought the game and are on their free trial. So of 1.2mil they have 800k, 2/3 retention rate. Not bad for their first 6 weeks. As long as the number steadily goes up they are in good shape. |

How'd I do? Multi-piece Character
Concept Artwork / Screens « Developers Corner 10/27/08 7:45:37 PM
I like it. Could use some work on the hands. At least at this resolution they look a bit skeletal. |

I think your concept is fine. It doesn't have to be perfect for me to understand your idea. Guess thats what actually going to an art school has done for me, I can appreciate the concept. |

Get rid of paragraph 5 and you have a topic. Right now its a bit off subject. |

So basically that entire interview can be summed up as "We don't want people progressing without paying us".
They want more money, which is what businesses do. Question is will they lose more money from doing this than they would have lost if they left it alone? Time will tell. |

Everyone else went to T4. The more time that passes the fewer people will be in the lower tiers until most players are rank 40 and start rolling alts. I play on Ulthuan and T4 is busy all day. Our T4 zones are busy with sieges all hours of the day. |
|
|
We are looking for more recruits. Pretty straight foward, go to our site and put in an application. We are in T3-T4 and run PQs, Instances, and RvR together daily. Guild Rank 13 currently with over 40 members. You acceptance is guaranteed as long as you can fill out the application and are not a complete asshat.

As it was this before: Ironbreaker's Offensive/Threat abilities + Swordmaster's Defensive abilities = Black Guard |
