Look at AOC's forum, look at WOW's forum and tell me you would want that crap on your hands. I personally am happy with in game help for MMOs, and email address, and the fan sites. Ican tell you this much, once I am playing the game the fan sites will no longer hold any interest for me. I will only visit them if I need a question answered. |

Pre-orderds must be going well in UK.

And that may well have V.A.T. on TOP of that price, I think they are pushing the boundaries and possibly losing about 2-5% of potential customers. Don't get me wrong I really don't mind the price, I always thought that we would see the price of MMOS start to go up as they have pretty much been frozen for a few years now it's only natural they would go up. Expect other MMOS to follow suit in the near future.
-With VAT that comes to over £12 a month.-
Those prices I quoted are including VAT (I think) |

How long till WAR wins the title?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 8/09/08 9:53:13 AM
A year is completely unrealistic. Give it four years and WAR will have millions of players, but WOW will still have millions too. My WOW days are long in the past, but it is a game that will continue for many years yet. |

I would call myself an MMO veteran having played most of them at one time or another, and I DO NOT agree at all. I feel the exact opposite in true. The fact that WAR has so many fansites dedicated to the game is a huge positive making an official forum totally obsolete and unecessary. If players ask you where to go to ask questions about the game say this: http://www.warhammeralliance.com/ http://vnboards.ign.com/Warhammer_Online_Age_of_Reckoning_General_Board/b22997/

was unaware of this info but made it easy for me to pick my class
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 8/09/08 3:52:56 AM
I doubt the cut classes will ever come back. Now then, the items for those classes will still be in the database, and so will the animations and models...so, I think we might see new classes in a couple of years called something totally different but using those animations and items like armour and weapons etc. I just hope to god they get the cities back in before a year is out. |

No forums is a good choice from their point of view. They already have a presence in all the big fan sites and Dev status in them all. THey can read them without having to get spammed by all the usual nerf threads and whining kiddies. The moderation is not their responsiblity so they don't pay some people to sit on their arses all day deleting posts like in AOC forums :) As for important announcements. That what the Warhammer Herald on their website is for. |

I assume you are trying this on the Euro beta centre, as its run by GOA and they have never fixed the problem. I tried both browsers and had the same problem with them over and over and over again. All you can do is clea your cache of cookies and files and keep trying. Its the rubbish flash site that GOA use and not at your end at all. Keep trying, and you will get it to work around attempt 150. |

Big Guilds Controlling the server.
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 8/08/08 3:33:01 AM
Like all MMOs, when WAR settles down after a few months only 50% of your guild will be online at the same time. That's why a lot of guilds are going for high numbers. They want to protect the keep they claim etc. My guild is for destruction. We are capped pre-launch at 85, and plan on 100 after launch. |

EU Pre-ordered then cancelled but still have my codes here?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 8/06/08 4:33:35 AM
Just put your codes in and play. When your account freezes after a few weeks, just put the CD codes in and it will be unlocked to the approprate level (determined by the cd codes) Don't worry, you'll get OB and HS from what all the fan sites are saying. |

Yet another online company that will not deal with Europe <sigh> Don't they know that the Internet is global? |

Really nice article, thanks for posting. |

Its another way of seperating NA from Europe, and piss off Euro players at the same time. Don't think GOA is involved with this, so Euro beta accounts don't work on it. |

No, no forcing. What they have said ithat 50% of a server is allocated for each sid, so that you will never see a server population of 80% order 20% destruction. As people roll on a server, a kind of tally keeps track and when it reaches some special number the server only allows the weaker faction to roll new toons. Also, it has been said that bonuses will be offered to the weaker side to attract people to that side. A the weaker side strengthens, the bonus is reduced until parity is acheived. |

I think the real difference between a WOW raid and a WAR city siege is the effort involved to get to that point. Half of the entire server (half a server = 1 realm) is attacking, the other half is defending and the realm that captures the enemy territory moves closer and closer to the city. The feeling behind this effort is different from a guild or two raiding a wow city (which I used to enjoy by the way) In WAR there will be a real sense of us against them, or realm pride as the devs call it. War is a team based game, which is very different from WOW. The closest feeling in WOW would be how great it feels when your arena team does well. Now multiply that feeling by 1000% and you will come close to knowing what it should be like. You ask what there is to do. There is PVE like in WOW. 30+ dungeons at launch with more in the cities that open up as the city levels up. There are dozens of scenarios (like WOW BGs), and hundreds of PQs (open world group quests), and thousands of personal quests (like wow solo quests). There is some crafting, but not too much or too complicated, and there is keep capturing. There is guild leveling, and renown ranks o 80 levels to complete, which unlock more abilities and armour/weapons. Then there is the Tome of Knowledge for people who like to collect things and explore. There is so much to do, that there will not be enough time to do it all. Expansions will be (not official) things like more items, mounts, renown ranks, guild ranks, new lands, new races, more tome unlocks, and god knows what else. There is a lot they can do, but already we know (or think we do) that the devs will not increase level cap. Doing so makes all your items obsolete and all progress more or less worthless.

AoC learned from Vanguard.. now you learn from AoC
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 8/03/08 4:53:57 AM
In my opinion, AOC learned nothing from Vanguard. They are in exactly the same place (in a hole). However, WAR could be said to have learned something from AOC I suppose, but I don't think it was AOC that made them cut the unfinished/less good stuff. The devs have always been about quality, and they often talk about pushing the game back if it isn't ready (which they did a couple of times) This time around they decided no further delay, so the only way to keep to their core principles of making a good quality game was to remove the unfinished parts. They "learned" from AOC, if you want to call it that, that releasing an unfinished game will no longer be tolerated by today's savvy MMO players. |

If I remember right, there are no corpse runs in WAR. When you die, which you will A LOT, you auto res at a distance in a safe place. That means in open world a town or other guarded area. In scenarios, it seems (only seen a couple of vids) to be still within the scenario, but at a distance from your enemy. I assume these will be called graveyards for conveniance sake like wow even though they don't look the same. The run back seemed short, maybe 30 seconds. I didn't see a res sickness debuff, but I may have missed it. |

Warhammer and WoW, whats the real difference?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 8/03/08 4:25:10 AM
There are loads of differances between WAR and WOW, but they can all be boiled down to one BIG one in the end: WAR = Team centric game. Its all about working together as a group in PQs and Scenarios, as a guild in keep captures, as a realm in city sieges. Your aim is to level up the city and guild, while trying to keep the other side down WOW = Solo centric game. Its all about earning loot for YOUR character. Even when you raid with your guild, its about loot for YOUR character. There is no benefit for your guild or realm. |

And he is DEAD right. As soon as an MMO offers lifetime subs, you can pretty much guarantee the game will close down after 2-3 years when the money runs out. Its a stupid idea for any MMO company to think of doing. The game will last as long as the money keeps flowing in each month. I see no reason that WAR can't last as long as WOW has, which is four years and counting. DAOC has lasted 7years so far. If Mythic offered a lifetime sub for WAR = 10 years of subs, then that would make sense to them. Nothing less. No one would pay that much in one go mind you :) |
