Its not only EA that tries stuff like this, its all big American publishers, (SOE anyone ?)
Thats probably the sole reason that TCoS does not have an American publisher yet. They want to decide what when and where themselves. And don't want publishers interfering with their ideas and timeschedules. |

Personally i think that they still don't have a us publisher because they don't want publishers interfering with the gameplay, and trying to put pressure on the release date. |

But the rumor machine tells me they changed that to the system you describe, because they could not get the neworking code working for this. |

I am trying to find a european server based roleplay guild. But with ingame communication divided intoo hundreds little chat channels, its hard to find likeminded people.
If you know a guild , or are a member of such a guild, please tell me how to contact the guildleadership in-game.

Which both are not real good things for TCoS. |

<smiles> well it was actually your sig that made me ask this question.
And seeing neverwinter knights and baldur's gate comming from Bioware, i tought you just had more info.
FR online would be a dream comming true, as long as they don't base it on the d20 rules... but try to build an MMO around the lore, multi classing and skills (espescially their spells) from D&D 3 and up. |

1) Having no US publisher does not mean there are no US release plans. If they can not find a US publisher, they'll release the game for US themselves but a few months later then the US and asian versions.
2) Actually the only release announcments have been 2k7, Q4-2K7 and Q1-2K8.. in times where publishers have finally understood that even MMO games need to be released in a finished state, this is very well understandable. AoC and warhammer online where initially planned for Q1-2K7 too, do you see the big picture of things.
3) Actually i have never been in a game where developers are more open and give more information during beta then for TCoS. But finding this information requires you to visit the officiall site and use your eyes. These developers are our breath and butter and they truly communicate. Almost every serious question on the TCoS boards gets an answer.
If real time combat can't be done remains to be seen.. we will know in Q1 2k8 |
