Its not only EA that tries stuff like this, its all big American publishers, (SOE anyone ?)

Thats probably the sole reason that  TCoS does not have an American publisher yet. They want to decide what when and where themselves. And don't want publishers interfering with their ideas and timeschedules.

Give it time with the US publisher. It will possibly be the biggest closing for a foreign game ever. There are many risks involved. How will the american market respond to the distinct european artstyle? Will the market be interested enough with big US mmos coming like Warhammer and Conan to meet the expectations? Will it turn out more profitable to wait for a cheaper last minute offer? There are enough companies pondering about that while testing the game, one will finally publish the game in the US. The closer it gets to release the cheaper.

I am sorry to disappont you, but there will be no cheap last minute offer, since there is absolutely no pressure for SIL to publish in North-America before a certain date. Certainly not when the game does well in European and Asian markets.

And if the game is very succesfull in Asia and Japan (and it will)... It will only be more expensive to release it in the US.

Personally i think that they still don't have a us publisher because they don't want publishers interfering with the gameplay, and trying to put pressure on the release date.

They will get tired of cleaning out 500,000 emails a day on the subject and cave to the pressure. Either that, or they will go insane. We just have to keep the pressure on them.

sure there will be skillresets, in the near future, but only for paying subscribers <smiles>

Originally posted by Ravel_RP Concerning this video http://www.tcos.com/downloads/xfer/tcos_dev_diary-combat_stress_test.wmv . Will any of the competitors, like AoC or WAR, have a combat system that is as much fun or even comes close to what is possible in Spellborn? Probably not. So why are many so unaware about this fantastic game on this site?
Well in fact, that combat system, no targeting, u hit where u swing approach, was displayed and announced by Funcom for AoC in 2005. One more thing I gotta say, that was some crazy bunny hopping in that video, since its alpha footage hope that will be fixed before release. Reason its not that well known is because its another fantasy based MMO, and what it has to offer, will be available before its released, ala AoC.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't Age of Conan's "swing where you hit" involve just clicking your mouse, and then "aiming" with your keyboard? For example: You click and hit the "Q" key to slash a shoulder or lop an arm off, or you click and hit the "X" key for a low blow, or leg chop?

If I remember reading correctly you do not actually aim at parts of your opponents body, but rather just swing at them and use the keyboard for direction. Again, someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

AoC used to be a FPS style game like TCoS, but it seems that they changed the system of lately to what you describe. But untill a few weeks ago when i was still interested in AoC the system was like TCoS, FPS like mouse aiming and then choosing from 5 attacks Q123E.

But the rumor machine tells me they changed that to the system you describe, because they could not get the neworking code working for this.

I've never heard of this game and I wasn't expecting much of the combat system. I'm a heavy PvPer and that combat was actually somewhat appealing but I quickly saw a few serious drawback that turned me off. The combat system has no way to prevent two opponents from trading hits when both players coming are coming into melee range.

What does that mean? When two players get into striking range than they will both mindlessly begin slamming the keyboard in hopes to land a hit so chances are you'll only effectively trade hits more often than not - kind of like if it were just autoattacking anyway... which defeats the purpose of having the combat twitch based.

They could fix this, if the player struck first was momentairly stunned or was knocked back to somehow prevent trading hits than I think the game would be more very appealing otherwise it would just seem mindlessly swinging when the opponent is in range. That couldn't just be picked at random either, you'd have to test both to see how it works with the mechanics It would be hard to judge though without playing the game though. All I can really do is make assumptions because the arc of the weapons might all be different and the length of the weapons as well.

Overall, I'm impressed with what they've shown.  I really didn't expect it to be as good as it was so I might take a closer look.

There is not only "manuall target attacks" there is also manuall (keybound) dodging.  Keep in mind that there is no auto attck, and that every hit they do they have to choose between 5 options. (So no spamming the mouse button like in a fps game.

Thats your opinion and you are fully entitled to have it.

For me its :

RPG part 5

FPS part 7

Fun part 9

As you can see Games and math don't go together very well.

I am trying to find a european server based roleplay guild. But with ingame communication divided intoo hundreds little chat channels, its hard to find likeminded people.

If you know a guild , or are a member of such a guild, please tell me how to contact the guildleadership in-game.

On time scheduled delivery for 10/30/07

I'll have it by 10am-1pm.

Then my life outside the PC will no longer exist.

BTW guys the game releases the 30th.. not 31st.

It was changed for obvious reasons.. 31st was a dumb idea anyway.. a lot of people won't even be home that much.

The 31st IS the day they are starting the event though. Not the 30th.

I used to work at walmart.. quit monday ROFL.. they had it sitting in the back. Reads "DO NOT DISPLAY BEFORE 10-30-07"

So yes.. it is releaseing TODAY.

mine is due to arrive today, as well. Should I assume I can start playing today?

The officiall website says :

Thank you for your participation in Hellgate: London beta. At this time the servers and forums are closed until our Halloween Launch.

Thats still 31st October in my book.

Either way we all have to sit and wait to see what happens

I waited a long time for this game. easily close to 2 years.. i can wait 1 more day

*twitch twitch* yeah.. no prob..

Servers will open on halloween, and Halloween is 31 Oktober, its allways been stated that this game will release on Halloween. While thursday is the day games normally release in the US, this game will release on a wendsday. Halloween it is. No confusion possible.

well if hardcore means you only get one life i hope they add a healer/rezer type class or this game will be hard as hell and i like it !!! hah

In hardcore there is no way to resurrect , why would they put in a healer class that would allow you to resurrect people? They might put one in game, but if you die in hardcore you are fvkin done and no healer class can save you.

Thats not entirely true, they can implemt it in hardcore that you have  60 secconds to get a rezz, but then if you die solo, you're toast.

2. Sure you are in beta?

This is your first post on the Spellborn part of this website...

Next to that you're playing, or where playing Vanguard a lot. And you are a vivid fan of Warhammer online and almost begging to get in their beta too.  So either you are not in TCoS beta, or you don't like the TCoS beta enough. Which both are not real good things for TCoS.

<smiles> well it was actually your sig that made me ask this question.

And seeing neverwinter knights and baldur's gate comming from Bioware, i tought you just had more info.

FR online would be a dream comming true, as long as they don't base it on the d20 rules... but try to build an MMO around the lore, multi classing and skills (espescially their spells) from D&D 3 and up.

Is it true that Bioware and Pandemic studios are creating this game ?

((On their website is only information that they started developing an MMO in March 2K6))

1) Having no US publisher does not mean there are no US release plans. If they can not find a US publisher, they'll release the game for US themselves but a few months later then the US and asian versions.

2) Actually the only release announcments have been 2k7, Q4-2K7 and Q1-2K8.. in times where publishers have finally understood that even MMO games need to be released in a finished state, this is very well understandable. AoC and warhammer online where initially planned for Q1-2K7 too, do you see the big picture of things.

3) Actually i have never been in a game where developers are more open and give more information during beta then for TCoS. But finding this information requires you to visit the officiall site and use your eyes. These developers are our breath and butter and they truly communicate. Almost every serious question on the TCoS boards gets an answer.

If real time combat can't be done remains to be seen.. we will know in Q1 2k8

I beleive the templar class was allready stated... a duall wielding magic user named "light mage" which uses light magic and has healing abbilities in addition to the heavy armor and mellee skills.

Next to that we can expect these new classes to be a little stronger then the current classes, after all you pay to play them.. <smiles>

someone has trouble reading, Templar is the race(or group rather, it doesnt matter, its more or less a higher up classification),same as cabalist and hunter, none are class's

It should have been.... "The new class in the templar subgroup"

Are you happy now, <wonders why he dislikes, people that can't think out of the box, so much>

because i keep hearing people say templar as if it is a class, no blademaster and guardian are. its not thinking out the box.

No im not happy now, i just wanted this post to be a little thing to see what people wanted for shits and giggles.

Well i want my "light mage", and the good thing is, its going to come.
