I really like the humor in the trailers of wildstar.
need to say that i was shocked when i read a hands on preview on www.tweakers.net (dutch) which said that they did not find any evidence of this humor in the part of the game they got to test. Which made me ralise that without that humor and a lots of cutscenes the game will not even come close to the atmosphere in the videos.
If so, it will be a pitty and a sad lost for this prommissing game. |

So what ever happened to the promised expansions at release, they said they would be continously adding open world maps and new stories and dungeons... Not much has been added over the last year, if you want people to return to the game you really need to add more of whats great to he game.
and what about houses and mounts/cars/bikes/harleys.. Will they ver ad those?

but back to the orriginal question.. i dont think there are any mmos out there that you can compare this game with... There are just to many great stories out her that you dont want to miss. |

Originally posted by AlBQuirky Nope, probably not, but i bet he watchess more movies then that he reads books...
i think you are really missing the point, in a good book it takes pages to set an atmosphere and make people see that in their immagination, but when using movie fragments or whatver visuall annimations the atmosphere can be experienced in the blink of an eye. |

Still, no MMORPG surpasses WoW in fluid combat (in my opinion): Why not?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/22/13 4:19:59 AM
Actually this is the single most important reason that WoW is still topping the lists..
however in my opinion, GW2 comes close. But most other mmos have really failed.
Not many developers seem to realise the importance of this. Tough i must admit that SWtor has greatly improved since release, but still lags miles beyound WoW, while other developers like SOE and Funcom seem clueless how to improve their current games in this department. |

I am at the office, got a few minutes for myself. Thinking about playing TSW tonight, and only one thing comes to mind. Whats the story behind that maintaer Ellias at the airport? It happened in TSW and in SWToR that i actually got immersed in the story and the world and it feels like my character is really part of the world.
I think its a good thing that story lore and atmosphere add a lot of depth to a game world. It makes me forget about stats and game mechanics and if done right ( which means it should be far and beyound the bedtime stories level of GW2) its an awesome addition to mmorpgs. Tough i find voice acting a requirement, for my imersion. Quests that are textbased fail to entertain me in general. Clicking quickly to see my questgoals. Somehow both TSW and SWTOR both shine in this department where GW2 uterly fails.
Dont get me wrong, i dont say that great stories and immersive quests make a good mmo, because both these games surely have teir flaws. As for a good mmo thee are many more requirements. But i personally can say that having them is a possitive tihing. |

Describe your dream-MMO with one picture
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/22/13 3:45:40 AM
I am not going to post the luis Royo picture here that i had in mind, dont know if that would be appreciated.
but i am wayting for that MMOthat proves that luscious Erotics can be classy and should be part of both real life and the virtuall mmo worlds we visit. |

Originally posted by ozmono I dont think games are heading towards more sandboxy setups, because the broad majorrity of people want to be entertained instead of actively entertaining themselves. |

Originally posted by nerovipus32 Then we differ very much..... Story is an important part for me in MMORPGs and becoming more important as time passes. without lore and stories an MMO just turns intoo a bunch of game mechanics for me
So we differ... I do really like stories as part of MMORPGs, please dont tell me what is good or bad for MMORPGs... we dont share the same vision and probably never will. Both opinions are personal, but you are saying that all mmorpgs need to change in the direction you want... thats just plain stupid. |

But in the end what ever direction an MMO takes, there will allways be more people dissapointed then there be happy... because there are more directions in MMO land, then there are factions in EQ. |

Is MMO Game Making Fundamentally Broken?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/21/13 1:02:10 PM
Even the best quests and stories turn intoo a grind, if you have no interest in them...
Its not MMO´s that are broken, its the people playing them like its an E-sport where Epeen is everything that counts. |

Originally posted by Xiaoki Since ftp the story driven content of TSW and SWTOR has gained many many followers and fans, its a thing loved by the casual masses. And exactl the casua masses is the people where the money is.
I agree with you that dynamic events are not a replacement of quests, but they are the perfect addition to eep story and lore bsed quests, they are what makes a world feel vibrant and alive. My best bt is that Blizzards next MMO will do it right in just the perfectcombination for both the masses and the silly few but loud hardcore. |

There are a lot of trends i see in several of the big AAA mmos
world design with Gw2 adding dynamic events this will certainly get a lot of following, if you combine that with the fully voicd stories of TSW and SWTOR youll have the best of 2 worlds. But then there is stil the old mmo trap of players devouring content faster then developers will ever be able to create it. The answr however has been found by letting players create their own content (neverwinter eq2) tough this will allways be an addon with a dubgeoncrawler feeling. people are also expecting that the world feels alive and that NPCs react to the actions of he PCs. GW2 is a good example of what to expect. anther trend in world design is sepperating PvE and PvP. There will e instanced PvP and world PvP in seperate zones. They really should add more PvE goals and rewards to challenge people to go and PvE in these openworld PvP zones... Double XP in these zone for PvE rewards should help mixing PvE and PvPactions.
Combat is rappidly becomming more active and more tactical, with less skills on the bar. Finnally everyone realises that WoW combat belongs to the past, tough GW2 showed us that the trinnity isnt such a bad mechanic, and actually works well when you want to give the payers mechancs to think out new stategies... I think fps mechanics are there to stay and it might be that in competitive PvP games tab targetting is becomming a thing of the past. I think we will see less cuttered intefaces that allow youto use many more skis then just the nuber of buttons, because so far TSW and Nevewinter have proven that to few skills dumbs down combat to much, and to many bars clutter the screen to much.
Econnomy this is something that seems lost i time. A good mmo needs a healthy Economy. Its been long ago that the Economy has been the core of a game. This will never happen wit the current mindset. A good econnomy ony works if crafting becomes a rare thing, because to many crafters kills the econnomy. Anyway, make top crftrs rare but allow them to create the best ingame items. With ingame items requiring the top drops o the endgame content. But so far there is no indication of any AAA mmo with a decent economy. But then maybe it is only possible to have a good Economy in a sandbox game.
For me these are the 3 main parts of an MMO, and the more i look at the current trends the more i am convinced that we will stay on the current path with no main developers taking steps in a different direction.

In MMOs, leveling is a mindless time sink prove me wrong
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/21/13 4:45:11 AM
For some it is.... I personally prefer the leveling with all its quests and exploration above mindlesly repeating the same endgame content over and over.
whrn i am done leveling i mostly move to the next game... |

Originally posted by Gorwe Sadly the potential of TSW requires much and frequent free content updates, and that isn´t the strongest point from the company, if i remember correct from the other 2 games i played before this one.
TSW is different from all other MMO´s that warrants most of its potential. Its a good game with some flaws, espescially in the combat department, so far no attention has been given to these flaws...
I guess most players stick around for the great stories and atmosphere as long as they can stand the combat. |

the whole money back refund for people that played hundreds of hours is ridiculous... Its meant for broken products THAT YOU CAN NOT USE AT ALL and its killing the gaming industry as a whole now.
I think its something of a major concern for the gaming industry. |

If there is one game out there that does not need to be totally openworld, its this game. Its build with and around the stories. Really immersive this way.
there is but one thing this game needs and thats a huge improvemnet to the combat... |
